Random thoughts on a sunny March Madness Saturday morning:
1. Are you watching? Who are you cheering for? Baylor plays at 11:10 am today. I’m a little worried. We are playing UNC and they are so good.
2. I just posted another edition of “What I Bought Wednesday” on my YouTube this week. I added extra finds because I didn’t post last week including the best self-tanner.
You can see it here.
3. I just saw the best salad tip. You know how it’s hard to get the dressing on all the lettuce? Put it all in a ziplock bag and shake it up.
4. It was an amazing week on the blog. I shared:
- the easiest spring wreath DIY
- the best outdoor rugs for spring
- this before and after porch
- this yummy raisin banana bread
5. The new season of Sanditon starts tonight. I’m setting my timer.
6. If you want to create a business and a brand and a money-making opportunity you can work on from your laptop on your couch. If you have big dreams you want to fill? If you want to start a part (or full-time business) from home.
Yard sale season is almost here.
I can’t WAIT.
This house tour decorated with yard sale and thrift store finds is so pretty.
If you have open shelves and need help styling?
Here are some easy and simple ideas.
(total aside: isn’t that pegboard such a clever idea for kitchen shelving?
This table was FREE.
But wait until you see the before.
See the table’s journey to this beautiful after here.
This before and after kitchen.
That STOVE.
See the before and after and the journey here.

And this
Y’all. I know I have shared these before but they are SUCH A GAMECHANGER and will save you so much money on produce. They keep my food so fresh. The other day my mother came over and I gave her grapes from one of these food storage containers and I told her they’d been in there for THREE WEEKS. She couldn’t believe it.
And one more for the road
Here’s how to turn a bookcase into a built-in and 16 other home projects you can finish this weekend.
my favorite finds from this week:
- these food storage containers
- these faux tulips
- this set of gold over-the-door mirrors
- this faux tanner
- these beaded flower earrings
- this diamond cleaner pen
- this set of velvet hangers
- this scalloped rug
- this drum chandelier
- this blue and white dress
happy random Saturday to you

I hate to say this but your page has more advertising than any one I go to. It’s just so annoying. Makes me not want to look. You must get paid by the advertisers. Think of your readers too please. It’s awful
I'll root for your team KariAnne just for support! The spring season gets very busy with all the new things to do outside. I wonder about the before and after above, looking at that kitchen how does a builder/renovator/home owner decide on which way the ceiling wood beams should go? Are they suppose to go in the direction of the wood floor? The wall tile? Is there a rule for that? Just curious:0) Love the tanning stuff, I'll have to try as I never do my face as it gets into my pores and then I just look splotchy after awhile but I'm seeing this one is for face..excited to try soon. Go Baylor!:0)
Hi KariAnne!! Love your posts!! I am a KU girl!! Rock Chalk!! Good luck to your Baylor Bears, but not too much!! 🤣🤣 Cathy
KariAnne, I liked your idea of distributing the salad dressing on the salad, but instead of plastic bags, I will use a lidded Rubbermaid glass bowl. I am trying to reduce the amount of plastic in our lives, especially single use plastic. Thank you these Thistlewood posts. I look forward to them every weekend.
That's a brilliant idea amping one up to KA's idea, too PJ. We all must do more to reduce whenever possible. I love the idea of mixing salad ahead of time like that. Now if I can just remember to do it!
Thanks for including us in all your post. I just enjoy them. You are so kind. Thank you. Happy Saturday.
Always a comfort to curl up and read Thistlekeeping…a great Saturday tradition…at least that’s what it is here! Happy weekend!
KariAnne! I absolutely love your Thistlekeeping posts!!! So much inspiration!! Thanks for the share friend!!
Another great weekly wrap up. You are lucky Sanditon doesn't start here until Sunday night. The Jane Austen film adaptations link sent me to the Swedish house tour (which is fabulous by the way). Thanks for a list of great projects.
Always love your Saturday posts! And yes! I am all about March Madness! Michigan plays Tennessee today. You know, I am a Michigan girl but I bleed orange and white!! #govols! Happy Saturday!
It was a sad day for the Vols. :( I'm in Tennessee and saw the end of the game. We had just gotten home from watching(in person) the Lady Vols beat Buffalo. That game was something else.
Thanks so much for another fabulous Thistlekeeping post, KariAnne! So many great ideas here -- I love that beautiful table transformation! Not quite as much March Madness joy in our home now after our Wildcats lost Thursday night, but at least one person in our home still loves following along with the madness! Good luck to your Baylor team! Have a wonderful weekend!
KariAnne So many great shares! And I loved your porch makeover.
Thanks for sharing the link about having fun. (I've said many times these last 2 years, especially, "I need to do something fun/have fun.") I realized that it looks a lot like JOY-happiness in spite of circumstances-and I can choose it!
I’m watching the overtime right now. I also live in NC.
What about those Tarheels! I am a true southern girl and Carolina Blue all the way, but still feel your pain when your favorite team loses.
Another great Thistlekeeping! Now I want a bacon, tomato, avocado grilled cheese with that carrot cake for dessert!!! We are Auburn fans here- made it through the first round. War Eagle!
Hey KariAnne…always look forward to your Thistlekeeping on Saturday mornings. Your first photo of your entry is so inviting. The bench looks comfy and everything so white and clean! Thanks for all the tidbits on offer today!
I KNEW you would feature that house from myscandinavianhome.com today. It's perfection. I want to move there right now!
You always give such good advice and I love it!!! Thank you so much!!!
The house tour was glorious!! Do you happen have the correct link to you Jane Austen favs? It sent me to My Scandinavian Home. Thanks!!! xoxo
Beautiful house tour! That carrot cake looks so good! Too bad I can't have it Lol! Thanks for all of the inspirations!
