Looking for home decor projects made from paper? I have a few ideas. Here are 21 projects that free (or almost free).
I have a new word for us, courtesy of my nieces and nephews.
Have you ever heard the term “mogging?’
M-O-G-G-I-N-G.
My niece was telling me an exceptionally scintillating story about life at high school (which of course I’m all ears about), and mid-conversation, she said, “And you know, Aunt Kari, of course, you know we were mogging.”
Excuse me?
Come again?
What in the world?
And then I went all spelling bee champion and asked for a definition, use in a sentence, and part of speech.
To mog: intransitive verb (mogged, mogging, mogs)
To be successful, to be more successful, to attempt to be the most successful at what you do
And you know what’s mogging?
These home decor projects made from paper.
And in amazing news that is TOTALLY mogging?
You can make most of these projects for FREE (or almost free).
And I have 21 of them.
21 Creative Home Decor Projects Made From Paper
// paper sculpture how-to book //
1. Paper book art
Let’s start with paper book art.
I love these books so much. My sister makes them and she creates paper flowers or paper sculptures and glues them to the front of a book.
You are proablbly thinking—umm–KariAnne—I can’t really create paper sculptures.
Wait until you see what I found!
An entire book that shows you how to make the prettiest paper sculptures. You could make them and add them to a book you have at home. Can you imagine what a perfect present for someone?

2. Faux wood wallpaper bookcase
If you want to make your bookcases look like wood? Here’s an easy hack.
All you need is peel-and-stick wallpaper that looks like wood that goes on the back of the bookcases.
I created these faux wood bookcase backs in my house in Kentucky back when they didn’t have peel-and-stick wallpaper that looked like this. I just used wood wrapping paper and stuck it to the wall with double-stick tape, but this is such a better version!
You can see a lighter faux wood paper here.
And you can see a darker faux wood paper here.

I filled them with Scrabble tiles like this.
You can see the step-by-step instructions here.
6. Coffee filter flowers
These coffee filter flowers are an oldie but a goodie.
I shared them years ago, but they are making a comeback for party decor in 2026.
They are so easy to make and you can dye them to match your graduation party, wedding, or celebration.
You can see the step-by-step instructions here.
7. Hand-stitched map
This is a map hand-stitched with a heart around someplace special.
It could be anything.
Any location that has special meaning.
Like:

14. Branches with paper leaves
This is kind of free decor.

Simply print out 25 scriptures on tags and fold the book into the shape of a tree.
Then each day, you can pull out a scripture and read it.

18. Folding paper stars
I got these stars off Amazon and decorated the staircase with them last year.

I have just had my mind blowed! You are full of amazing ideas! Just LOVE YOU SITE and congrats on the journey of becoming a GRAMMY. What a lucky child (girl) just think about all the crafts you two will be doing. And she will carry these on to the future children I am sure!
I love paper projects. How clever is the wrapped vase idea? Thank you for a fun post to enjoy while I stay indoors, avoiding the wildfire smoke outside (it's BAD!).
Awww such GREAT projects, KariAnne! I watch my nieces once a week (ages 7 and 10) and I am always looking for cute projects to do with them. Thank you!!!
All of these ideas are so cute. I love the printable! I think tonight when my granddaughters come over, I’m going to use the term mogging in conversation and get their reaction.😂
Lots of great ideas! Several I’d like to try. The book for advent is especially interesting. I’d like to do it for a grandchild using things to do. He’s an avid reader.
My daughter had a lead in the Musical "White christmas." Per tradition I wanted to bring her a bouquet of flowers for preview night. Instead of fresh cut roses I made white roses out of sheet music and embellished the bouquet with berries and ribbon. It was stunning, fit the theme of the show, and could be displayed in her dressing room without wilting. Fun to make and a big hit!
You are truly a mogster. :- )
Thank you for the printables. I am working on a gallery wall, and these will be a wonderful addition.
This is awesome ideas. Thank you. Im always mogging. Lol
You totally " merched it" [ proven ], my newest teen term, haha. Kim
