It’s nice to meet you.
But before we hang out and paint a few rooms and redo the floor in the master bedroom and replace the gutters on part of the house and repaint the exterior of the house?
Before all that happens can we press pause and take a look back.
There are lots of good projects in 2021.
Just in case you missed them?
Just in case you forgot?
Just in case you have a project folder that needs a few ideas?
Here are my top ten DIY projects from 2021.
Spoiler alert: it was a really, really, REALLY good year.
10. How to make a faux roman shade
I have an entire tutorial on how to make a drop cloth roman shade from scratch.
It’s so much easier than you think.
But if you aren’t into sewing and you never really moved your roman shade up and down, you can make a shade that looks really real with this faux roman shade project.
You can see the entire step-by-step here.
9. This art idea for a big blank wall
I always have a blank wall somewhere around the house that needs help.
And ideas for filling them always come in handy.
This idea is (almost) free and will take you about an hour.
You can see the entire project here.
8. How to make a duvet cover out of a sheet
I’ve made tons of these duvet covers.
I came up with this idea because duvet covers can be expensive and I never have the exact pattern that I’m looking for.
All you need are sheets and these instructions.
You can see the instructions here.
7. How to make a wood twig vase
I added this project in case you need something simple.
This is the simplest of all the ideas on this (maybe that’s why it’s been pinned on Pinterest so many times).
The vase is made with free stuff from the yard.
You can see it here.
6. How to make an office out of a bookcase
This is the perfect project if you are short on office space.
We created a functioning office space in the craft room with just this built-in.
You can see the entire project and how we created it here.
5. How to build an oversized planter
This project was for my amazing mother.
She loves hydrangeas and we built this entire planter from the ground up and filled it with hydrangeas.
4. How to transform a closet into a craft space
This is the before of the closet in the craft room.
I had so many craft supplies that needed a little organization.
We completely transformed this space in a weekend.
3. DIY headboard with built-in bookshelves
This was my favorite DIY of the year.
It’s such a great idea if you have are short on space and you need a headboard.
We made this headboard with built-in bookcase.
2. How to create the look of wallpaper with a stencil
This was part of the makeover with the before and after bedroom retreat.
I wanted wallpaper—but I didn’t want to put wallpaper up (or take it down).
So I came up with this solution instead.
1. How to cover metal columns with wood
You can tell how I feel about this project.
I’m hugging the columns.
This is the DIY project that made the biggest difference with our home.
It was such a cost-effective solution to cover our existing metal columns.
See what I mean? 2021 was a really good year for DIYs.
But I heard something through the grapevine just this week.
2022 is going to BE EVEN BETTER.
Stay tuned. 🙂

Not 100% sure, I believe it's from Ikea. If you like the hanging lamp, it too is from Ikea. Love the color of the room. Good choice for yours. Cheers & Happy New Year.
So many great ideas and projects. Remember all of them and they are all in my idea folder:) Happy almost New Years!
All brilliant of course! I'm so glad you added that planter project, I need to make some of those this coming year and it will be very handy to have a tutorial!
They are all brilliant but there's something about the stencil/wallpaper idea that makes me sigh.
