Random thoughts on a brilliantly sunny summer morning:
1. The twins sent me pictures of their first sorority formal last night. Somewhere along the way they grew up. It’s amazing for them and a little overwhelming for me.
2. I posted another episode of “What I Bought Wednesday” over on my YouTube channel. I’m sharing the prettiest dress and earrings for Easter and a way to waterproof your outdoor cushions.
3. I’m so sad that “The Gilded Age” is over, but we are heading to Newport for a wedding and I’m going to go and see some of the mansions there in real life. I can’t wait.
4. It was an amazing week on the blog. I shared:
- this amazing find from the side of the road
- this DIY shoe organizer
- how to frame a canvas for only $8
- this cute way to store baskets (and decorate with them)
5. We went and played tennis this week. It’s the first time I’ve been able to play since my hip surgery and I literally almost did cartwheels across the court.
6. In exciting news, the Thistlewood Mastermind just opened up for the first time this year. Registration will be open until Tuesday. If you want to be part of an encouraging, creative, supportive group of over 300 bloggers and influencers, this is the group for you.

I so adore your blog and emails. I use so many of your ideas in my home. So excited for your daughters! I’m going to my chapter’s 50th reunion of being on campus at our university in April and cannot wait to catch us with all my sisters. A group of us are having a mini-reunion in July too. Truly lifelong friendships.

I bet you look adorable playing tennis in your little white skirt and periwinkle top! xoxo
O my goodness. Where was I ? Where had I been ? How did I miss you saying you had hip surgery ? I never miss a day of your blog. Just love it and love you and I think you know by now I love Buddy. So do my two Goldens too. Ok by to the surgery. I had both of my hips replaced last year. Yes two surgeries. I got along fine. The second one didn't do as well as the first one but all is well knowing the Lord heals. How did you get along ?
I'm so excited you decided to tour some of the Newport Mansions when you go to RI for the wedding! If you accidently walk into the wrong one, tell Jay Leno I say hello. I can't remember the week you'll be in New England, but if it's the 10th through the 15th, drive just a bit more to Brimfield for the Spring Antique Fair! I know how you love to go antiquing! It's the biggest and the best in New England. I hope your recovery is going well. Big hugs, Shelley
Brimfield is HUGE. Our Massachusetts home is very close to it. We have never made it all the way through Brimfield. Can not believe how grown up the twins are...happened in front of us over the years. Enjoy your visit to the northeast.
GREAT Thistles, KA. I am so excited for your Newport trip. One of my very fav places in the world! We've taken a cruise out of NYC with that as a stop three times now. We get a tour of one of the mansions each time. Our first one was on our anniversary and we were able to dance on the beautiful ballroom floor of The Breaker's Vanderbilt mansion. What a treat. You will love that trip. Hope you can stay a while and visit a few of them, since it is so far away from Texas. Your girls are so beautiful, just like their momma. ♥♥
