We just took a trip across the country.

Yep.

From almost sea to shining sea.

We drove from right outside of Dallas to Cape Cod.

Three glorious days of just us and the open road.

Just between us?

There’s nothing I love more than a road trip. Long talks with the cutest guy on the planet, sipping on hot coffee as the sun rises over the horizon, and watching Arkansas, Tennesee, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island unfold just outside the window.

And the best part?

Road trips like this got even easier.

All thanks to my Walmart+ membership.

We drove across the country to spend some time up at Cape Cod and attend a wedding in Newport.

The wedding was glorious.

The time at the Cape was glorious.

And the drive was glorious.

The best part of any drive? What makes it so much fun? The thing that makes the trip so much easier?

The PLAYLIST.

Did you know that Walmart+ members can get six months of Spotify Premium for free (nearly $60 value).

I LOVE Spotify Premium.

It’s totally GOLD. We listen to ad-free music and podcasts and we even download music and listen to it offline (perfect when you are driving in the mountains and you lose signal. This limited-time offer is available to both new and existing paid Walmart+ members who haven’t previously tried Spotify Premium.

Want to know what’s on our playlist?

Here’s what kept us company across the Mississippi river and Blueridge mountains.

Our favorite songs we listened to on repeat:

  • The Tide is High
  • Eye of the Tiger
  • American Pie
  • Sweet Caroline
  • Run For The Roses
  • Our Song
  • Can I Have This Dance
  • Song of the Myra
  • There’s No Place I’d Rather Be
  • Leaving On a Jet Plane
  • Rhinestone Cowboy
  • The Longest Time
  • Take a Chance on Me
  • Don’t Go Breaking My Heart

Our favorite podcasts we listened to on repeat:

  • The Gilded Gentleman (all about the Gilded Age)
  • This American Life (such an amazing slice of life podcast)
  • American History Tellers (loved the series on Lewis and Clark)
  • Start-up (all about start-up businesses)

I know I’ve mentioned this 1,000 times—but I LOVE my Walmart+ membership. It’s so easy to use and it’s helped me stay on track with my eating because I’m not walking the aisles of the store tossing impulse purchases into my cart.

Instead? I plan out meals and recipes, order them online and everything I need for a week’s worth of menus shows up at my front door. It also helped planning for the trip. We also ordered snacks for our road trip and got free same-day delivery from our local store as a Walmart+ member ($35 order minimum. Restrictions apply.).

Here are some of our favorite snacks to take on a trip:

Sandi, It’s my FAVORITE!!!!! It’s only 60 calories for two TBSP (regular peanut butter is 190)! I just add water and make peanut butter and it tastes almost the same!!!! I put it on celery for a healthy snack! happy day, karianne

We have made the coast to coast trip many times. I love road trips. We take the entire family (dogs too) so we have adapted a sprinter. Still have the same snacks for the trip -pretty much the same as yours. :) Glad you were able to make the trip during good weather. We have taken all the routes-northern, southern, and middle to go between Massachusetts and California. Such a beautiful country with so much beauty and diversity.

Great ideas. I love road trips, too. I love the blue and white dress you are wearing. Where can we get it? Blessings

Aww. We like the same music. I think I'm older than you are so you must be an old soul. I also enjoy road trips and I learned long ago to pack healthy snacks that can double as meals if necessary. Sometimes it's a long distance to locate a place to eat when you are on the road! I need to check out PB2. But no celery for me. Maybe with apples ....

If you do lots of road trips, check out an app called HearHere, it’s a location based app that tells you stories and history about the area you’re driving through. It does cost (35./year) but it’s very entertaining for the whole family!

Hello sweet friend! I FOUND IT!!!! I'm so sorry it's taken me so long, but I couldn't find the dress. I actually bought it in a little boutique up at the Cape. The brand is Jude Connally and the style of the dress is the Maria dress! It comes in tons of colors, but I have it in the Triumph pattern. It's fully lined and cotton and looks so cute on. Seriously one of my favorite dresses ever. I actually cut off the strings because I thought they detracted from the dress. Here's an online boutique I found: https://islandpursuit.com/maria-triumph-floral-dress/ It's definitely a splurge---but you might be able to search for it elsewhere online and it might be on sale! Let me know if you have any other questions! Happy to help! happy day! KariAnne
