This Cape Cod beach house tour is full of views of the ocean and pops of color. If you need a little summer today, this is the tour for you.
I just redecorated this back deck with a brightly colored rug, a conversation set and flowers. Take the tour and see this mini back deck refresh.
I’m back home now.
It was a whirlwind trip to the Cape and the beach and Newport, RI.
But all good things must come to an end.
Two days ago we headed home and traded in the Atlantic Ocean for the Lone Star state. My mother had surgery yesterday, so we needed to be here to take care of her (everything went smoothly and she’s coming home from the hospital today).
But I couldn’t leave the Cape without one last tour.
Wait until you see this.
This Cape Cod beach house TOUR.
I helped my cousin decorate her back deck to get it ready for summer.
So here’s a tour of the porch and her beautiful home.
Cape Cod Beach House Tour
Her home is just down the street from our family’s.
It’s full of family heirlooms and pieces she’s picked up over the years and little bits of whimsy
And the amazing thing?
She is even more incredible than this beautiful home.
The house overlooks the sea and you can hear the ocean rolling just outside the back door.
The gardens are full of flower beds and ocean breezes.
Here’s a look inside.
It’s almost as pretty as the ocean view.
I still remember the first time I saw this house.
I knocked on the door and walked inside and smelled the sea breezes that were filling the rooms and smelled the ocean through the open window and….
….I literally started dancing with joy.
Not that it was a fancy dance or anything.
It was a cross between the hula and macarena….
…..sprinkled with extra excitement.
And in the middle of all that dancing…..
….I told my cousin.
1. This was my favorite house in the universe.
2. I was so thankful she was letting me share it with all of you.
and
3. I was moving in.
There are so many amazing details.
Did you see the ladder?
Did you sigh?
Me, too. 🙂
I LOVE this game piece artwork that she found.
It brings a pop of color into the room.
This is such a great way to introduce color. The space is relatively neutral—the walls, the couch, the wood floors.
Then you can bring in the color with artwork, pillows and a striped rug.
The rooms upstairs overlook the ocean.
They are decorated in blue and white with vintage accents.
See what I mean about moving in.
And now?
Want to see what I did on the back porch?
I gave it a mini makeover.
It all started when I found this rug.
If you look at the rest of my cousin’s house, she decorates her beautiful classic interiors with pops of color. For example, she doesn’t have curtains at most of her windows, instead letting the outside view frame and decorate the space.
And this back deck is no exception.
It has two-story windows that reflect the ocean as a backdrop.
When I found the rug I knew it would be the perfect foundation of color. It’s an indoor outdoor rug with layers of blue and black and coral. The colors are pretty true to the picture and it comes in tons of different sizes.
Next, I found this bistro set with two chairs and a table.
It’s perfect for coffee in the morning.
Then, I added in these yellow pillows with tassels.
One for each chair.
The pillows come in green and blue, too (it was a hard choice which ones to pick).
Lastly, I found a few baskets of colorful flowers, a little snack for a sunny afternoon and these lanterns.
They are the perfect addition to any porch or patio.
There’s a battery-operated candle in the center of the lantern that you can switch on for extra ambiance.
It was an amazing trip Cape Cod.
You are a rock star.
I’ll be back to see you later.
And please save me a seat right here.

Your house is amazing and relaxing. Now you have given us the pleasure of another good feeling home. Thank you 😊
Wow, what a beautiful home, you did a great job on the deck, as always. What it must b like to wake up to that view EVERYDAY !! Yay, right
Your decorating is as generous as you are. Thank you for sharing your life with us. We can live vicariously through you. We bought a small 2 bedroom cottage last year was built in 1932 for our retirement. I love to decor but have not been able to do much retirement budget. We are moving slowly. The house was in prestine condition from an 89 year old lady that had lived there since 1962. Your decor inspiration give my wonderful ideas that I hope to implement in the future. Blessing, Eva
Charming! She must be a morning person because summer sunrise coming in the bedroom windows might be an issue for late sleepers. I could visit because I'm a morning person. She can invite me anytime.
Your cousins house is amazing! Living in a house like that in the beach would be paradise. It was so nice of her to let us all inside. Great job on the patio. It’s gorgeous. Hugs to you, my friend.
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing! So glad you were able to enjoy your time in the Northeast. Hope your mom is doing well.
What a beautiful home. The view is spectacular. Your cousin must be so happy with this home. Thank you for sharing.
Firstly, hope your mom recovers well! Next .... those pillows! From Walmart! You picked the right color although I can see your dilemma. The house is lovely, inside and out. Thank your cousin for us for allowing us to do a virtual visit.
Is everyone in your family a fabulous decorator? You guys got all the good decor genes!! The house is fabulous and your addition to the backyard is perfect. I hope your mom is feeling well. Thanks for sharing the pretty and all the sources. Off to buy some pillows! ;)
I want to live on that chaise lounge, with a cup of tea and a plate of nibbles and a good book.
It's an absolute dream!!! xoxo
Oh! Be still my heart with the weathered shingles and that view, holy cow it's awesome. I'd do a happy dance too, KA, stepping into that wonderful home. Love your special touches, too. Thx cuz for letting Karianne share this with us.
OMGosh, I love the pillow with tassels and want it in blue, but it's not available anywhere!! Please help!!! xoxo p.s. I live in Massachusetts and even checked McKinney, Texas - not available. : (
Looking for a house for 5 families on the ocean/and or pool include?
Keeping your dear Mom in our prayers. Thanks for sharing not only your beautiful family's cottage with us but also your cousin's place as well. KariAnne, it's so nice that you can get away and spend some time there.
Beautiful home I could live here!! That cozy setting area is amazing, you did a great loving job.
So beautiful. I would feel very at peace here. I'm always curious about these patio rugs? Although pretty, how practical are they? How do you keep them clean? I love the colours you chose. Nice instead of the "neutral norm" these days. Do they not get mildewy underneath them?
Her home is so pretty and I really love what you did to the patio! I've always wanted to visit the Cape. On my bucket list for sure! Thanks for sharing!
WOW, what a beautiful home!! Very Cape Cod!! Your decor looks great, so fresh and cozy. Glad your mom's surgery went well!! I'm sure you're a little glad to be home!
What a great house! So glad you all had a great time and you shared your cousin's home with us. Love Cape Cod style. Praying your mom recovers quickly. ❤
What a lovely home made even prettier by your outdoor touches. Hope your Mom is recovering well. I know you will spoil. Surgery of any kind is never easy. It's even hard on the caregivers to watch their loved one hurt. Take good care. 💝
This home is gorgeous! Love the colors!
Indeed, lovely and the view to the ocean - sublime!
Oh my, move over I'm coming too! I want to take a nap on that fluffy cozy couch! Where did she find that!! Thanks for making me drool. :)
Wow! Wow! Wow!! This is a dream house! How blessed you and your family are to have these gorgeous homes! This makes me think of an HGTV Dream House! Thank you for sharing it? Is your cousin a sister-cousin? I have a sister-cousin (closer than just a cousin) who shares her beach house with me. I am glad you had such a wonderful time. Your added decor looks amazing too. I hope your mom is doing well!
Do you know where the dining table is from? It’s exactly what I’m looking for! Thank you!
