Random thoughts on a brilliantly sunny summer Saturday with extra alliteration:
1. I figured out the BEST tip for a home manicure. It’s so much cheaper than getting them done at the salon.
This is my favorite nail color–it’s called Mover and Shaker and you can see it here.
Here’s the tip. I use this top coat that dries almost instantly and I wrap it around over the tip of the nail. Then I add another top coat every day. Each day it gets a little harder and glossier. After a couple of days it looks almost exactly like I got my nails done at the salon.
It’s under $5 and you can see the top coat I’m using here.
2. I’m so excited because we are going to see “Point of Grace” next weekend. They have been my favorite group for years.
3. It was an amazing week on the blog. We discussed:
- 11 simple backyard summer entertaining ideas
- 51 10-minute summer decorating ideas
- 10 books to add to your summer reading list
- the cutest flag bunting for the Fourth
4. We had the best family game day. It was amazing. Hands down everyone’s favorite board game is a game called Carcassonne. It’s kind of like Catan but easier with way less commitment. You can see it here.
And now?
It’s time to share.
Here are some of my favorite finds from around the web.
(spoiler alert: they are amazing). 🙂
Look at these DIY placemats.
Aren’t they the CUTEST?
See how you can make them here.
This lemon sorbet looks amazing.
Especially the little lemon cups.

Here’s the thing about decorating.
It’s a process and sometimes you make mistakes.
Those mistakes are a gift.
Here’s a beautiful perspective on making a decorating mistake.
I love everything about this home tour.

And one more for the road
One of my favorite affordable projects is to paint plywood floors. I’ve done it in all my houses and it never disappoints.
It’s SUCH an affordable and easy DIY.
You can see how to paint plywood subfloors here.
Did you see the Strawberry Moon last night where you live?
It’s a pink moon that shows up right around the summer solstice. It’s super rare and it was so beautiful.
happy random Saturday to you

love these finds! Sending my family the board game link. Cattan was too much thinking !
If Catan is too much you will love Carcassonne. It's a lot easier to play and there's a little strategy. We just bought the expansion pack that has bridges that go over the river.
Great post! Isn't it difficult to remove polish with that much top coat? Nail polish remover?
I just use regular nail polish remover and it all comes off. It's a little more challenging to get off---but not much!
I did see the moon in Ohio. It was so pretty. And this is so many good reads. Have a great Saturday.
It was BEAUTIFUL!
We did see the moon last night during an outdoor concert it was spectacular! I am going to try your nail polish suggestions as I just stopped getting the fake ones and they are in need of help. Thank you so much for mentioning Karin’s Kottage as a finalist in the American Farmhouse Style magazines contest for perfect porches! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 You are the best!! Hugs, Karin
You put a lot of variety and happiness in your blogs. Love them.
Awesome thistles, KA. Our Strawberry Moon was behind clouds but my hubs got a great pic of it peeking underneath. Happy summer! (Though it's been summer weather for over a month already.)
My family loves games too! I haven’t heard of Carcassonne. Sounds like we’ll have to give it a try! Thanks for all the amazing shares! 💚
Those arbor and trellis were so pretty, and the tours of those houses. Enjoy your summer and thanks for another good read.
I loved the post on the Little White Barn house. The entire house seemed cozy and perfect.Even with all the white it was very welcoming and that isn't always true.
So much inspiration this week. I'm so excited to hear about Karin. Thanks for the reminder to vote. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
I enjoy your random thoughts posts so much - never know what treasurers I'll find there. It takes me a few days to check out everything. I loved the Mason jar dessert post. And yes, I did vote for Karin's porch - it was the one I liked best, too. I also kied the 100 ways to improve your life, and I was happy to see how many of them are part of my daily life. Have a great week
I love these weekly post , so much to see, and grab ideas from, thanks so much for putting it all together. I did pop over and vote for your friend, I'm not sure if it will count me bing in the UK, but I hope she does well, loved her porch. xx
Catan is wayyyy too much commitment for me, but Carcassonne looks like fun. The reviewers said it only takes about half an hour to play, which is right up my alley. The honey cakes are adorable .... but then I looked at the calorie count. Sigh. Too many grad parties with lots of desserts lately, so I'll have to forego that idea for now. I was intrigued by the DIY outdoor chairs--so attractive! And .... I didn't realize that Point of Grace still existed. Have fun at your concert!
Love the Swedish summer cottage and the NC home tour!! xoxo
