This simple and easy Christmas tree decor idea is all about the sparkles. Here’s how I transformed my tree in minutes.

Bright living room decorated for Christmas with a red and blue theme, featuring a red Christmas tree, stockings on a white fireplace, plaid ribbon wreath, and festive accents on a glass coffee table and furniture.

I am so all about myself right now.

That’s a good thing.

Sigh.

I really needed a win today because my phone somehow updated itself in the middle of the night, and now I don’t know where anything is on my homescreen, and my buttons are see-through.

But I digress.

Today’s post isn’t about phones and how hard they are to figure out.

Today is about decorating.

And how I figured out a way to make the living room cuter using something that I already have.

It all started with this tree. I got the tree in November at Target. It’s part of the John Derian collection, and it was definitely a splurge. I was going to return it because I thought it was too expensive, and then when it showed up, I realized I was never going to return it because I was OFFICIALLY IN LOVE WITH IT. It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but the branches are like iron. They are so sturdy and stay in place, and you can hang the heaviest ornaments off of them, and the branches stay straight and strong.

There are still a few trees left, and you can see them here.

I put the tree in the corner of the living room and added these red ornaments to the branches, and I love it.

But then?

I thought of a way to make it EVEN CUTER.

(Wait for it).

A small Christmas tree decorated with red ornaments, faux candles, and topped with a large plaid bow stands on a glass table. The background features festive holiday decorations in a cozy living room.

I ADDED CANDLES TO THE BRANCHES.

Can you even believe it?

I got this candle set last year, and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use it.

I found almost an identical set of candles (that are on sale with a coupon right now).

You can see them here.

I think, on a larger tree, candles like these can sometimes get lost.

But on a smaller tree like this?

THEY SHINE.

Here’s the same tree in the same place when the lights go down.

The candles take a plain ornament tree from ordinary to extraordinary.

The entire side of the room across from the tree is lit up at night, and the candles add so much sparkle to the space.

A close-up of a gold pole secured to an artificial pine branch with a dark green clamp, with red Christmas ornaments hanging in the blurred background.

They were so easy to clip onto the branches.

And the candles twist and turn, so you can adjust them to the branch.

The clips hold them in place, and because the branches are so sturdy? They stay put.

A black and white remote control with "ON" and "OFF" buttons sits on a reflective surface, surrounded by decorative beads, rope, and a patterned dish in the background.

Mine operate off a remote, but I don’t have a timer with mine (so I have to turn them off every night).

This set has a remote and a timer, which I wish I had with mine.

You can see them here.

They run off AAA batteries (one per candle).

Now that I’ve started using candles like these?

I think the possibilities are endless.

You could add them to a mantel or a staircase, or the top of a hutch, or even a wreath.

Why have I never thought of this before? It’s opened up an entire world of Christmas decorating possibilities. I guess I just got hung up on that they could only be used on trees, and my trees are so full of ornaments I thought they might get lost.

Here’s my before-and-after lit Christmas tree one more time.

And now?

Watch out, world.

My Christmas decorating just got a whole lot brighter.

Now, if I could just figure out my phone. 🙂

PS Have you ever used these before? And if so, how have you used the candles?

I’m still trying to figure out the functional purpose of this most recent update. Other than aggravating the living crap out of me, I see no reason for it.

Rizae, if you are referring to Cinco - she was saying something about the auto cell phone update - not abou5t Karianne's new tree. I think you misunderstood.
