Random thoughts on a sunny, COLD Saturday morning:
1. Oh, cold fall mornings how I love thee. You are my heart.
2. I realized we never discussed the Downton Abbey movie. What in the world was I thinking? Have you seen it? Thoughts?
Spoiler alert. I LOVED IT.
Seriously.
I went with my mother and mother-in-law and sat between them and giggled and clapped and sighed the entire way through.
It was worth every minute of the wait.
3. It’s been a busy week here at thistlewood. We talked about decorating the dining room for fall and had a giveaway and I shared my favorite faux greenery stems for winter and told a story and had a brilliant idea we toured the house.
Whew.
That was so much fun.
4. We pulled up the carpet in the bedroom and found…wait for it…
…plywood.
And we are in the middle of starting to paint it. It’s going to be fun.
5. Today at 11:00 is Texas vs. OU. The Red River Showdown. Go Horns.
And now?
Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week.
This amazing tablescape.
And it’s literally the easiest to put together.

My mother used to make us homemade granola when I was growing up.
And I just found this recipe I’m going to try for Pumpkin Spice Granola.

This pretty fall table.
It’s perfect for Thanksgiving.
Or for that pumpkin spice granola I’m going to make.
You can see the rest of the table here.
And this picture.
I can’t stop from staring at it.

It’s SO EASY.

Painting plywood, huh??? Well, I can imagine it's going to look fabulous with another fabulous rug on top. Can't wait to see it.
Happy Saturday, KariAnne! Wasn't the Downton Abbey movie wonderful?! I think I may see it again with a girlfriend this weekend! Pumpkin spice granola sounds like the perfect fall recipe to try this weekend! Thanks for sharing! xo
I'm anxiously awaiting to hear who won the football game?!!
LOVED the Downton movie! That barn shoot is stunning. Pumpkin quotes, put those in my sketch book! And new Christmas CD’s. WOW!!!! Your Saturday posts make me dizzy but I love the ideas. Painting plywood? Can’t wait to se what you do with it. My husband wants to do that in his tv room but after they had such a hard time getting his new sofa in there its gonna stay like it is right now🤣
Enjoy the cool weather....we can finally open the sliding doors and let the fresh cool air in!! BTW..... I’m always ready for Christmas ideas ⛄️ Happy Weekend😊
I wondered why you didn't mention Downton Abby??? And wouldn't you know... ( drumroll please....)... I got a migraine the day Mom and I were to see it on opening day here and we couldn't go. BUMMER!!!!! Oh well... I'm glad to know it was all I thought it was going to be!! I did watch the rerun of Poldark on Masterpiece... 😝. Re.,, JoAnna's home is lovely!! I don't follow her, but I could live in her home... with a few changes of my own. Any eligible bachelors out there in blog land? I'm a kind soul and EXCELLENT housekeeper, love to work outdoors.... but admittedly ' so-so ' in the kitchen... 😉😝???!!! Also, thanks for the list of Christmas albums!!! My dvds are one of the first things I pull out for the holidays and baby do I belt out those notes!!! I used to sing in the Church choir as a youth in Baltimore. There's NOTHING like Christmas music... NOTHING... 🎶🎄🎁🤶🎅😊 See ya later, friend... 😚 Happy weekend... 🤗
Love you...love your blog....loved Downton Movie....but have to say..... BOOOOOMMMER. SOOOOOONNNER ! OU #1
I was wondering why you didn't mention Downton! I've seen it twice now--I went first with a friend, and then this past week I took my mom. It's one of what I think of as a "good old fashioned feel-good movie" where you feel like you are visiting old friends and enjoying magnificent cinematography. BTW, thanks to you, I've planned an outing during Christmas to see the latest Little Women with my daughter and my friend and HER daughter. On a different note--I enjoy Joanna Gaines but if I had to choose a decorator for my home, it would be you!
Thanks for the weekly wrap-up! You are the best!!!! Love the French Country barn and all the other ideas in the wrap-up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You and Joanna should do something together...both talented ladies and in Texas!!!!!!!
Re: joanna's farmhouse...you need that "pharmacie" sign in your life.
Love you; love your blog; can't root for the Longhorns; and finally, the illegal snap was a fumble. :-) Have a great week!
