I never met a Christmas carol I didn’t like.

Ever.

I was raised on O Holy Night and Little Town of Bethlehem and Sleigh Ride with Amy Grant’s yooo hooo.”

This year’s Christmas playlist has over 75 songs that are on rotation in my car.  I sing them every day.  Everywhere.  At the top of my lungs.  Sometimes I even roll down the window to add a little chill in the air to the mix.

Last week I was right in the middle of the chorus of one of my favorite new songs “I hear the angels singing” by the Sidewalk Prophets, complete with choreography and a drum solo on my steering wheel—-when my oldest twin, Westleigh, turned to me and rolled her eyes.

“Mom, you are so extra,” she said.

Extra?

What?

I paused the playlist with a question in my eyes.  “Extra?” I said.  “What does that mean?”

“You know,” she giggled.  “A lot.  Over the top.  All the things.”

She’s right.

I can’t help it.  I’m extra.

You, too?  Oh good.  Come sit by me. 🙂

PS  I might be extra, but my projects aren’t.  Want some simple fall with a side of easy?  Here are some simple fall projects you can finish in an afternoon (just click on the links to take you to the projects).

Not a DIY person but always click on your post to See/read what you have been up to plus your take on it. I love that you are an "Extra" person in your children's eyes. They "know" mom is going to take an extra step for them no matter the issue. Singing to the top of your lungs blessed them, those that hear you, your own self and praises our lord. You go girl!!!!

"Extra" is the only way!!! I believe it's good to go through life experiencing "plus one"... way to go, Extra Rock Star!!

When my daughter was a teenager she thought the same about me. Now that she's older she would be considered "Extra". She has a saying now...Go big or go home!. I love it that I'm not as uncool as I was in her teenage years. That finally all that "Extra" training has paid off! Just think someday you will look at your daughter and call her "Extra"! What a great feeling!

Oh another reason why I just love you...and Westleigh. One of my sayings: put the extra in ordinary!!!! Extra- Ordinary. Without the "extra", well... yeah , it's just ordinary...and ain't nobody got any time for ordinary!! I say that a lot on my blog! So have an extra----ordinary day! And tell Westleigh....it's all on me! xx

Hahaha, I'm 'extra' too and I do not apologize. Its my theory that extra people have extra fun! Speaking of extra fun, thanks for the easy projects reminders!!

I love it! My adult children don't say it but I see it on their faces sometimes because they didn't inherit the Extra or maybe, if it's inside them, they are suppressing it. When they were little it was so normal, for me to be "extra" , then, I think they found out not all moms possess or even knows how to use their "extra-ness". I need to come sit next to you because I love being "Extra"! Also loving rediscovering your blog.

Anything felted - I adore it. I spent one winter making felted acorns and birds. I was so pleased with the result. I'm really thinking I want a felted acorn garland now.
