I’m smart.

At least that’s what I tell my kids and my mom and my husband and random people who stop by for sweet tea.

I know the difference between “theirs” and “there’s.”

I know when to use bad and badly.

I know sentences shouldn’t end with prepositions.

I have almost every episode of Schoolhouse Rock memorized and I know conjunctions have their functions and bills sit on capitol hill and the preamble to the Constitution and that interplanetary Janet is a galaxy girl.

See what I mean?

Smart with extra brilliance sprinkled on top.

But then?

Something came along who is smarter and more brilliant and more intelligent.

Today I’m partnering with Somfy to show off my motorized window shades.

I recently had these motorized window shades installed in my home.

Just in time for the holidays.

They are perfect.

We live on a busy street and they let in light while protecting privacy.

They are beautiful and stylish and match the room perfectly.

You can see a close-up of the design here.

And?

At the risk of stating the obvious….

…they are brilliant.

Here’s how I use it.

There are three windows in the room and four channels on this remote.

Each window is assigned a channel.

For example, if too much sunlight is coming through the windows and I want to lower just one window?

I press the down button and then press the home button to stop the shade where I want it to stop.

And Channel 4?

It’s the channel that lowers and raises all the windows simultaneously.

Want all the shades lowered at one time?  Press the down button.

Want all the shades raised at one time?  Press the up button.

The home button stops them all where ever you want them to stop.

And that’s not even the end of the smartness.

There’s an app that installs on your phone that allows you to program the shades and control them all from another location remotely.

It’s super easy to use.

You just add each room with your shades on it and let the app do the rest.

Want to see them in action?

Oh, good.

Me, too.

Here’s a little video I put together of how the shades work in my home.

The install process was so easy, too.

I just ordered samples of the shade patterns I was interested in.  They were mailed to my house and I chose the one that fit the room the best.  I selected light filtering with this pretty geometric pattern that matches the drop cloth curtains perfectly.

You can find a local installer here and order your shades.  It’s truly such an easy process. An installer comes to your house and installs them in less than an afternoon.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love them.

Seriously.

The other day I was sitting in the office working and the sunlight was shining on the computer and I couldn’t see the screen.

Easy fix.

I just lowered the shade slightly and the problem was solved.

I wish you could have seen Buddy’s face when they were first installed.

He sat there and tilted his head to one side and watched them go up and down.

And up and down.

And up and down.

After several minutes he nodded his head as if to pronounce them acceptable for the house…

…and laid down and went to sleep.

Smart dog.

The shades aren’t the only thing that’s brilliant around here.

Those are wonderful. Love that you have design choices on them. I need to look into them for my "widow" condo (as I call it because Hubs went to Heaven 3 months ago). I want him to be proud of me! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas as we honor the birth of Jesus!

Great idea for windows. I think you are smart, too. You know the rules of grammar well, but are genious enough to use poetic license in your writing, making your posts fun to read and relatable (is that a word?) Brilliant literary style and content in your posts! Your readers are smart enough to see that! to to to

The shades look so pretty! I'm looking for something for the front windows in our new home. It is a huge wall of windows in the dining room and when we sit in there it feels a bit like we are in a fishbowl. They are on the front of the house. My problem is it has a huge arched window above...like another 6 foot window. I'm going to have to explore shades like this for that. Nancy

I am a candidate for these. Thank you for highlighting them. I have a big Bay with Windows and have always struggled with window treatment for that bay. We have no privacy for that side of the house.

I love motorized shades...I had a 3,000 sq ft apartment provided for me at the Opryland Hotel a few years ago that had them. Sooooo amazing! I took a lot of design ideas away from that stay. Love the pattern that you chose. Buddy approval seals the deal.❤️

I laughed out loud when I read you needed those blinds because you live on a busy street. Girl, it's not because of that. It's because people see your beautiful dressed home and want to gawk at the inside. It's like the old Kohl's commercial. The people are standing at the glass muttering Open, Open, Open. :0

What a great idea. Almost all of my windows have furniture in front of them, couch, table, etc. These shades were work perfectly, and I wouldn't have to lean over the furniture to get to the window. The plus side, is they are beautiful shades, and they look like they were made for a beautiful home like yours.

KariAnne, your new shades are lovely! Love the fabric you picked for them! So happy that your Buddy approved, too! Have a blessed week-end!

It’s all brilliant! I love the new shades and the remote control function makes them so nice, especially the phone app availability. xo Pat

I'm a little skeptical of powered blinds. We had "another brand" in our living room and the motors all went out very quickly. Once the motor was gone, you couldn't even move them up and down manually. I like this one's 5 year warranty, though... might have to try motorized again. And, HEY BUDDY!!

I just had these installed in my house over the summer! I have two windows way, way up high that face south. It's great to be able to close and open the shades as needed. I only wish I had picked a heavier fabric, because they don't block as much light as I would like. But they're very convenient and look nice otherwise! And it took a while for my cat to get used to them; any time I would raise or lower them, she would literally stop in her tracks and look at them as if we were being invaded by aliens!

So glad you have an App for your phone! Hope you have a spare remote. Our remotes grow legs & walk off! They are beautiful blinds and really solved your sunlight issue
