Look what just showed up in my mailbox or at a local store near you.
The kitchen.
As featured in the pages of Country Woman magazine.
It is such a fun article. There’s DIY’s and tips and kitchen decorating ideas and a few random opinions about loving what you have and decorating with yard sale finds and how we transformed our kitchen on a budget.
I read it while watching Downton Abbey last night (which just as an aside we totally need to talk about). I so want to discuss the episode, but I don’t want to give anything away in case you haven’t watched it yet.
But can I say yikes?
And oh no.
And that I hope everything is okay.
And that I love Violet, Dowager Duchess of Grantham with my whole heart.
I’ll leave the discussion for another day and simply share some of my favorite DIY projects from our kitchen.
Welcome to my very own kitchen Academy Awards. 🙂

Miz karianne....you are like that little engine that could! You go girl.... Very happy for you, little one.
Love the tile (and that was the best episode of this season! Gotta love Andy and Tom (not Thomas)). I also love the reverse pleat window treatment!
Wow! Congrats and so exciting! Everything looks beautiful! And, yes, that was an amazing episode of DA last night! Don't you think something pivotal is going to happen with Thomas?
YAY!! You're a rockstar!! So, so proud of you and everything looks gorgeous!! Love the plate racks. Happy February, my friend!
Congratulations on being featured in Country Woman magazine...wow! Love your kitchen, too. Happy Monday, Friend!
Congrats, KariAnne on the mag segment. Very cool. Love all the great kitchen ideas too (especially that plate rack). That makes the whole pantry. Have a great day.
Congrats on the magazine feature! I love all of your great projects and the warmth they bring to your home. I too watched Downton last night and when it happened I quickly looked at my clock to see what time it was. I was afraid it was 10:00 and the episode would be over before we knew what happened. Thank goodness it was only 9:47. Whew!
Well, you made me smile and I needed it -- Bluehost is down AGAIN and I am at my wits end. I picked today to work and catch up and well, now I have to twiddle my thumbs. But!! In the meantime I can savor your post and enjoy your beautiful home. The bright shiny pages brightened up my mood. Thank you friend!! Have a wonderful day.
You are amazing! You should sell tickets for a house tour and Girls Night Out Downton Abbey Marathon! :)
Congrats KariAnne! Your kitchen photographed beautifully! and Downton! oh my. I always have a hard time getting to sleep on Sunday evenings when the show concludes. My head is so full of Mary and Edith and Anna and the Carson's. It's just not going to be the same when the season is over. We will all have to find some other escape! Maybe there is hope for a Downton Abbey movie. A friend just mentioned to me this morning she heard of someone with plans to attend Downton cocktail party. Wouldn't that be a fun event for you to plan!! and then share all your lovely photos with us!
What a great article in "Country Woman" magazine. I subscribe to this magazine and it was exciting to find it. Great ideas and I plan to use some of them in my kitchen and order several of the items. I look forward to each of your blogs. . They are always interesting whether it's a new project, a new endeavor you are beginning or a family story. Keep up the good work.
Love all your decorating inspirations and stories that go with them! And a great big congrats on the Country Woman magazine feature!! I'll be picking up my copy today :-) What a great idea the above reader had for a Downton Abbey cocktail party--sounds like your cup of tea, KariAnne *wink wink*
Yay for Country Woman and I look forward to discussing Downton! Happy Monday! Lisa
So happy for you, Karianne!!! Congratulations!!!
Beautiful! gonna have to see if I find the magazine at the grocery store. There are no more books stores these days - which makes me sad. Anyway..... Great job - AGAIN!
Congratulations bestest Country Woman EVER!!! Love, love!!! : )
The article looks WONDERFUL! So happy for you, KariAnne! And Downton Abbey...we said YIKES, too.
Love it! Saw the article a few weeks ago, and I was super excited for you! I haven't watched the other half of Downton, so no spoilers! I have to finish it tonight...
I got mine a few weeks ago.. Showed all my friends Your the best.. Have a great week.
One of my friends and I have been looking up dresses from the '20's on Ebay and Etsy, picking out our favorite styles, and sending links to each other. It's fun! Of course, my favorites are always over $1000 ... a girl can dream, right? I think I need to find one of those headband things that fits over the forehead next. I'm pretty sure I would be gorgeous with one of those. Ha. I started reading your blog because I was amazed at your projects like the transom windows, and the look you could achieve with a little money and a lot of elbow grease. And then I discovered how much fun you are! :) I would like for Edith to find happy love before Mary for once! I don't like the underlying theme that Mary's good looks make her more worthy of love than Edith (who is attractive but not stunningly beautiful). I think Mr. Carson needs to learn to roll up his sleeves and help out around the home. I'm sensing happiness for Daisy and Mrs. Padmore--please, Mr. Fellowes? There ... I discussed DA with you without any spoilers.
Congratulations on the feature!
Congratulations!!!! These are all such fabulous projects. I love them.
Congratulations on the magazine spread. It couldn't happen to a nicer blogger. And yes, I echo the yikes sentiments about Downton as well. I wish the series would last forever.
YAY!!! Congrats on your feature in the magazine, Ms. Thistle:D So happy for you!
Love seeing your work in print KariAnne! Congrats and everything looks incredible!
Congratulations on being featured in the magazine. You deserve every blessing that comes your way. You add so much light into each of our days. Thanks! Nancy
This is the third week that I've started reading your post before watching Downton Abbey. Please say spoiler alert! ;-)
CONGRATS!!! Can't wait to pick the magazine up. Great projects.
I am going to watch Downton tonight!!! You all have me worried:)
You are the new magazine maven. If I can find the magazine, will you autograph it. Congratulations!
Congratulations! The hits just keep coming. Can't wait to hear your take on Downtown. Maybe the next big series could be Thistlewood!
MANY HAPPY CONGRATULATIONS on having your gorgeous kitchen featured in Country Woman magazine! No one and no other kitchen deserve this spread more! Gosh, and I'm STILL crushing over that floor in your butler's pantry! :)
HI sweetie, I started looking at your blog because of your enormous decorating talent but now I have turned my attention to your hilarious way of describing things! At times I laugh out loud. What a joy it is to know someone (almost) that has that such a wonderful personality!! My first thought on Downton Abbey when it happened was "Well this thing is moving way too fast". I do wish the gay butler would learn to be nice and mean it. I think in the end they will all live "Happily Ever After". Oh and by the way Congratulations!!
Congratulations on getting published - what a feather in your cap! You deserve it! Please don't let me know what happened on Downton - I was so tired I fell asleep before 9pm and haven't had the time to watch it yet. I can't wait though!
