When I was younger I thought that organizing was super-overrated.
“Why would anyone want to be organized….when they could live like this,” I’d say to my piles of clothes draped over chairs in my room.
“I know right where everything is anyway,” I’d whisper to the closet floor.
“I’m organized in my mind,” I’d tell the stacks of papers on my desk.
But now?
I love organization.
Especially when it starts with 2017.
You, too? Oh good. 🙂
Here are some of my favorite bathroom organizing ideas.
1. Organize and decorate with your towels
You have towels. Why not let them do a little of the decorating work?
I added a stack of new white fluffy towels in a metal basket next to the bathtub and the softest rug ever created for bathroom floors to the space.
You can also organize towels in a vintage containers. I used an old locker basket on top of the cabinet to stack them for display.
2. Monogrammed totes
I had labels for the containers in the linen closet, but they’d always fall off because of the humidity in the space.
So I decided to use monogram totes like these (and they are so affordable) instead.
I chose a monogrammed letter for everything I wanted to organize in the space.
W for washcloths. A for accessories. S for soap.
And so on.
3. Create vertical organization
I made this display ladder last year to store items in the bathroom.
When you use the vertical space in your bathroom it takes up less room.
The ladder is perfect for storing extra hand soap and tiny felted succulents and a box to store extra hair ties.
Add a sprig of greenery in these measuring bottles (on sale right now) to freshen up the room.
(total aside: I decorated with the toilet paper, too. Doesn’t it look like art stacked in that basket?)
4. Organize the sink area
Hooks are your friend.
They make your towels look cute and keep the sink area a little cleaner.
I have one on either side of the sink.
(total aside: These towels are trying really hard to decorate, too.)
5. Get rid of extra things your bathroom picked up along the way
I found seven containers of almost empty this and near-to-being finished that in the closet.
I cleaned every bit of all those empty containers out, then I stocked up on pretty new hand wash to go with my new towels.
This is what the bathroom looks like now.
It’s happy.
I’m happy.
My towels are happy.
And I have a few words for that younger self.
You know….the one who was so dismissive of organizing?

Bless your heart.
PS I think my bathroom is southern. 🙂

I LOVE that Towel basket. Is that an antique you found, or is it something I can buy somewhere?
Same. I want one. Been scouring the Internet all morning. Do tell, Karianne.
I got the basket at Kirkland's! They are sold out online now, but I think you can still find it in stores!
Love the bathroom look, Miz karianne, but I had to chuckle when I saw the little quote art block! I have that very same one that my granddaughter gave me. It hangs on a wall in my great room as part of a grouping......just to the right of a flat basket full of flowers, which is just to the right of my "country blessings" sign, hanging directly underneath "Mabel the red and white heifer". I tend to use that phrase ALOT, but it has many different meanings, depending on the occasion! Many country blessings to you, little one.
With BLESS YOUR HEART your beautiful house is surely Southern (and proud of it I hope!):) I have always loved that font on the totes and hand wash- to Kirkland's I will go!!
It looks so fresh and pretty!
I really need this advice! Our bathrooms are minuscule and I need every bit of organizing container to make everything work. I love the idea of the baskets. Genius at work again. Happy Monday!
My sis loves a man from Georgia...she always says Bless Your Heart. Love the bathroom...great ideas. Nothing beats everything in its place.
Love the bathroom! I wanted to order the measuring bottles, but, darn, they are sold out already. I do hope they get them in again, they look great in your bathroom. Also like the porcelain coated tray you have with the word Towel on it, with adorable gold legs. Everything just goes together so nicely, you did a great job...(as always)
Your bathroom is so fresh and lovely, KariAnne...and organized! Lots of pretty inspiration!
What color paint is on the bathroom walls? Great room!
Love your organization tips for the bathroom.....I also swoon every time I see that beautiful tub!! :) Happy Monday!
Love it. I can't get away from white towels! They speak my love language! Happy Monday! P.S...I am sure Victoria only used white towels. ;-)
Beautiful bathroom. I love all the great ideas. Can you tell me the name of the blue paint you used on walls? It's so calming! Thank you.
Only you can create art out of toilet paper! Lol! I sure love the shelf with the buckets! And the ladder storage shelf. Unfortunately my bathroom is too small for those ideas, but I can keep them in mind for others parts of my house. Have a lovely day!
Thanks, I was just at Kirkland's the other day, now I have to go back! ;o) wink! Everything looks so fresh and clean. I just did a huge makeover on our guest room and bathroom. I'd love for you to take a peek. Have a great day!
Such a beautiful bathroom!! This came just in time! We have been working on remodeling our bathroom and I am beginning to think that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I really like the idea fo the monogrammed bins. I will definitely get some hooks!!
You make it look so easy. :) Your transom window was featured on Layla's blog today--I knew it was a "KariAnne moment" even before I saw your name!
Love it! Clean, fresh and organized. I redid my linen closets between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I felt so good with them organized. And everything has a place, Imagine that. Teehee This gives me motivation to do the powder room!
I love to organize. I also use large glass jars to keep extra shampoo, conditioner and bodywash. That way you can easily see when you are running low. Love all your ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want this bathroom - but I am willing to settle for the claw foot tub!!!
I LOVE your bathroom... And I especially love the white shelf above the tub with the galvanized 'vases'. I'm going to borrow that idea for above my shower... it always looks so drab there. I have a rental, and the tile is beige with a very pale wall strip above it. I think your shelf might just work!
One of the first sentences I said as a toddler was"Bress a Heart" so that's what my friends say to me now. I think I'll embroider that for my bathroom.
It's funny that you posted about this today. I spent a lot of time yesterday cleaning and organizing the master bathroom. All the while I was also redecorating it in my mind...new paint color, new accessories, you know how it goes, right?
Yes, do tell the bathroom color, please!
So very soothing and calming! I want to retreat to the tub!!! : )
I love it! But I'm not sure I could have a white bathroom with this many children. I would have to buy bleach in bulk. I love the ladder display too, but I'd be worried my younger boys would always be trying to climb it. You have inspired me to go out and buy some new fluffy bath towels though. Thanks for sharing all the organizing tips. I'm in the process of doing that in our farmhouse kitchen.
I love it all! It looks organized, stylish and relaxing! White towels are my favorite, they just look so fresh!
Hi Friend, your bathroom so nice and clean and organized. Love it. And Kirkland`s! Love to shop there, beautiful things and the prices are great. Also, I wanted to suggest a program I started watching last night on Netflix." Call the Midwife", 1957, a poverty-stricken neighborhood in England, sooooo good. It`s not royalty, or Poldark, but very good.
Beautiful! I love everything about it. Thanks for sharing!
I'm obsessed with your sink . .. seriously amazing
All of these ideas are smart and lovely, but my favorite is your monogrammed baskets - I never would've thought of that! Thank you for linking up with Merry Monday this week!
Very very nice bathroom. It's so fresh and clean. Love the white accessories.
I desperately need to get my bathroom re-organized...thanks for the tips! I really love the plants and the vertical storage:)
Your bathroom is just gorgeous! I like simple and clean rather than fussy and frou-frou!
Love it! What color is in the walls? Sue
I love it! What color did you use on the walls?
Yes! I want to know what color your walls are as well!!! Looks beautiful!
Lisa, The wall color is SW Gris by Sherwin Williams! Happy day friend! karianne
That is the problem with Kirkland's they are always sold out on line and when you don't live near one you cant get any of the good stuff. They need to do better with their online stuff. Nearest one to me is 2 hrs. away. Love the whole bathroom. Great.
I giggled a little when I was trying to guess what was in each monogrammed tote. Love the tips and can't wait to love the next new bathroom reveal!!
