happy mother's day

This is what Pinterest inspired the twins to make for my Mother’s Day present.

Bless you Pinterest.

I love it.

I think the original project might have been titled “52 reasons why we love you.”

52 cards.

52 reasons.

But here at Thistlewood we always seem to be a few cards shy of a full deck. 🙂

mother's day cards

It’s such a cute idea.

You punch holes in the cards and wire them together with pipe cleaners to make a book of Mother’s Day cards.

Literally.

And then you write something wonderful on each card about your mother.

mother's day

Some of the reasons were funny.

And so true.

There’s more drama in sixth grade than in a month of soap operas.

mother's day happy

Some were sweet.

Some were a reminder that sometimes rules were meant to be bent a little.

Just a little.

Especially when a really good Hallmark happy ending is just around the corner.

creativity

As I read all 49 reasons, I couldn’t believe what they noticed and  it was such an insight into what they thought was important.

What made them happy.

What they treasured enough to write it down.

What a gift.

And so I giggled and laughed and exclaimed over each card as two sets of sparkling blues eyes watched me read my gift with eager anticipation.

funny mother's day cards

But when I got to this card….I couldn’t help it.  I literally laughed out loud.

And read it and laughed again and again.

And again.

You might have even called it a chortle.

Oh sweet twins.

Thank you for your gift of love and laughter.

Even if I’m only a legend….

…..in my own mind. 🙂

PS  Happy belated Mother’s Day.

I hope yours was full of love, laughter and beautiful cards, too.

This was so precious. How wonderful that they have these memories, now, and you can remind them of how much they love you later. LOL. Age 15-17 is coming. Brace yourself. Pat yourself on the back honey............you ARE a wonderful Mom. Xoxoxoxox

Such insightful girls! They seem to have inherited the twinkle-in-their-eyes from you! Thanks for the sweet post, Ms. Legend!

Miz karianne.....I already knew that you're an awesome Mom. And I already knew that you are indeed a legend. It's so cute and sweet and definitely shows their creative side. But more than that, I think this gift is a simple outpouring of the love, admiration and respect they have for you, and a truly amazing testimony to the positive influence you have on your children. Not every child is blessed with the kind of love and guidance your children are privy to! And you know they had to spend plenty of time thinking and then applying their efforts in order to get it done in time. So, now you know you're not an "after thought" for Mother's Day, either! LOL Keep making those memories, super Mom, and always give them a reason to honor you. I'm glad you had a great Mother's Day.

What a treasure! Wait until they revisit that in about 30 years. They will get such a kick out of it - and you will cry again about that too. I know I would! Kudos to the LEGEND!!!

Oh my love this idea and the fact that your house is like ours missing a pickle out of the pickle jar!! Why I love you so much. Please tell them they are legends too. So funny never will forget seeing those beautiful blue eyes look at me over that concession stand. I was like I know them! Hope I did not scare them by writing on your drink top! Bless you for checking in with me. Encouraged me to blog felt good and glad memory preserved. You are such an inspiration!!! Keep writing and sharing!

I loved your gift from the twins. As special as it is now, when you are old and grey and happen to look through some of the gifts you have saved, that the girls have made for you, you will look at them again, probably with tears in your eyes. I've been there, and know this to be true. But being the Legend.... this will be fresh in your heart every day of your life..for sure. A special gift from two special children, to a VERY SPECIAL MOM!!!!

That's such a cute gift! You're blessed to have such great kids! I don't have kids but I do have two boxer fur-kids. My hubby got me a card (supposedly signed by them) and a box of dog treats. He said that he really wanted to buy me chocolate but that our boxers insisted that the dog treat would be a great gift, lol. That's the last time I let our fur kids pick out my gifts! :) Have a great day!

Ahhh haaa....we have something in common!!!!!! My daughter did this same thing for my birthday in March!!!! She used a mirror and post it notes!!!! It's something I will treasure forever!!!! The one I had to laugh about was the post it that said I love you because.... You don't do drugs!!!! I then, knew she was really searching for reasons. Have a great day!!

Oh I love this sweet and funny post, Kari Anne!! It made me laugh, too, because it's just so you! :-D This is a wonderful Pinterest-inspired gift, and I know you will treasure it always. Isn't it wonderful when we glimpse that insight into our precious children's minds and hearts? Happy Belated Mother's Day to you and have a wonderful week! Hugs, Denise

What a wonderful blessing! It was a blessing for me as well just reading about it! Our children are the gift that keep on giving. That was a perfect gift like gifts are suppose to be " from the heart". Thanks for sharing the love, Ms. Legend and company! XO

Just gotta love the princesses saluting the Queen of Hearts - what a special from the heart gift to a true legend - the way all children should see their parents made my heart happy.

Such sweet girls! I love this kind of thoughtful gift from the heart! For Easter, my granddaughter painted and decorated a plastic terracotta planter in lieu of a basket. She wrote her sentiments on the outside, and filled it with chocolate eggs, and Gladiola bulbs. It was her own project! Like your girls, she is very sweet! She is also in sixth grade, and full of drama. May I quote you on Facebook to my daughter? I laughed when I read your statement about sixth grade. I've tried to assure her (my daughter) that drama is normal at this age. (And every age!)
