I was shopping yesterday at Walmart and found the CUTEST stuff and almost didn’t post it here.

I kept thinking that we haven’t even finished with pumpkins yet.

And then?

I remembered last year.

Last year I remember standing in the middle of the aisles of a store LADENEND with Christmas stuff at the end of October. I literally rolled my eyes and pushed my cart on by with all the satisfaction of someone who tries to celebrate a holiday when it is supposed to be celebrated.

Who would ever shop for Christmas in October, I thought?

Ridiculous, I thought.

I have plenty of time to shop because it’s October 25 and Christmas is TWO MONTHS AWAY.

But truly?

The laugh was on me.

I went back three weeks later and the store aisles were BARE. Just a few random star ornaments and the saddest garland you have ever seen. Everyone else had already shopped it all up and left me behind.

So this year I’m shopping early. No more bare aisles for me.

In the middle of all that shopping, I got so excited at all the cute stuff that I knew I had to share.

Here are my favorite Walmart Christmas finds for under $20.

Where do I even begin?

Are you shopping for Christmas yet?

Did I mention that it is TWO months from TODAY?

I had been in Texas for six weeks. I retuned to Tn on the 6th of October. The next week I went into Michaels looking for some cute pumpkins and maybe some super cute floral picks. And what to my wondering eyes should appear....nothing, zip, zilch, nada! Fall had passed me by. If you snooze.... you loose! To make matters worse, my daughter decorated the church for me in my absence. Unfortunately, she took all my personal pumpkins as well. She only left me 2 orange pumpkins and 3 twig pumpkins. It's a sad state of affairs! It's a good thing I felt like doing minimal this year! ;)

What timing you have! I've been trying to figure out what to get a dear friend who happens to love Christmas, buffalo plaid and lives in a small place. The 3 piece tree set is ordered. She's going to love them. xoxoxo

Was just cruising through our local Walmart and was delighted to see this year their buyers hit the mark. Some years the merchandise seems to be HoHum, but they outdid themselves this time. So this year, budget minded shoppers have great choices! You picked some goodies, as always. Now I just have to figure out how to add another large tote to the Christmas stash without hubby rolling his eyes and giving me that look. You know that look, don’t you??😳🤪

Isn't it crazy how fast all of the Christmas stuff goes! My favorite Walmart Christmas item is some antler circle ornaments I use for napkin rings!!

I really like their Christmas things this year especially! I have to admit, yes, I do shop now. It is all gone everywhere if you don’t get out there and fill up your cart! Plus it is less hectic, No driving all over in snow (Ohio) and fewer frantic people running every which way, etc. Thanks for your post today.! Time to shop!

Since it is raining in TN today, I will be going to Wal-Mart instead of taking my "nice outside" fall walk during my daughter's bball practice. Your post has inspired me!!! I am loving the black and white buffalo-checked trees with those signs!! Would that not look adorable for decorations on my screened-in porch we are enclosing this winter?!?! I like to swing surrounded by pretty....what can a Southern girl say?! Lol!!

I am the one who is 78 and never want anyone to enter my house and say "You sure can tell old people live it because nothing changed since the 70's". I try to keep up with trends but for Christmas, I always change out the ribbon on my outdoor wreaths. I just love the black and white buffalo check. And you are so right about getting everything early!. I got my new bows and the cutest little deer in that black and white buffalo check! Hmmm, maybe I better go back and look things over after I go to the Estate Sale today. Blessings and a great day!

Sharon, you made me smile. In 20 years, I want to be like you: still enjoying life and the fluffing of home. :) Have an awesome day!

Acquiring the newest Holiday theme is the advertising push as we all know. Yes each year it feels earlier. I'm crushing 70...and I love mixing the "old" with the new. I have a slim tree added to my two others. I actually have my grandparents Christmas village and my parents Bethlehem set. I love the blending. I also love shopping antique/thrift stores for Christmas decorating...heck I just love shopping. Happy saving...

Oh, Sharon, you inspire me! I am 69 and keep thinking I am too old to be changing up my home décor, or decorating for holidays. But I do love it and have become an expert on doing it all on a strict budget. Thanks so much for making me smile..

KariAnne!! I need the buttoned ribbon. Well, I really don’t “need” it, but, oh my gosh - I’ve got to have it. I just searched for it on the Wal-Mart website and can’t locate it. Any suggestions?

So I anticipate that this year I will see lots of red, white, and black in your decorating ....... soon I'll find out if I am right! :)

Karianne, I learned the same lesson several years when I waited until mid-November to shop for ribbon, Christmas décor, etc. Now, I shop for all that in October as I have learned a hard lesson about waiting until things get picked over. This year I draw inspiration for some Moscow mule mugs I got as a gift last season. I thought how pretty and elegant but non-traditional a copper metallic theme would be paired with peacock blue. So when I was in Hobby Lobby two weeks ago I saw the most beautiful copper metallic ribbon with snowflakes on it and I knew I had found the look I was after. I also found some beautiful wreath and garland décor in the same color scheme. I was so glad I bought all this early and didn't wait until it was gone. Those vintage stockings you featured from Walmart reminded me of the ones my Mom and her brother had when they were young.

Last week i purchased the black and white Christmas tree pillow, buffalo ck ribbon, and a small wooden tag sign of the Holy Family to add to my wreath!

  12. Image for Eleanor Eleanor

I have picked up a few things every trip to Walmart the last few weeks. My stores have the buffalo check tress but they are red and black. Have probably bought too much but figure I would rather return than be sorry!

I’ve come to sigh when I start hearing about Christmas. The stores are shoving it down your throat in the months of August and September! It’s become nothing but commercialism. Spend, spend, spend. I’m remembering it for the most important reason; peace on Earth, goodwill towards men, and the savior who came to save us all. We don’t go crazy with presents, keep it very low key. It’s about being with your family, your loved ones, and sharing a meal together. Not rushing out before Thanksgiving dinner is even over to spend, spend. May you all have a joyous, blessed and peaceful Christmas.

    1. Image for Sharon Sharon

We should all remember why we have Christmas....it is always in my heart. But, I must admit, I enjoy doing new decorations every year. Blessings to you and your family!!

    2. Image for Betsy Betsy

Dianne, I get your point. I'm on a limited budget and we as a family either purchase a budget friendly item, bake something special (handmade stollen) or make a yearly ornament. The better I am at budgeting the more I can do for the Boy Scouts food drive and my church. I get so much joy out of what I can do.

It is already gone at our closest Walmart-they had it out the first of October and it went within the first 2 weeks!!!!!!! I have learned if you wait-it is too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cute finds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Image for Jeanine Jeanine

Oh so cute finds! Yes, when you see it, ya gotta get it. Things do fly off the shelves! Just got a call, last night, from our daughter and son in love....they are coming home for Christmas!!!!!!!!! OH, my mind is swirling with excitement and ideas...a few days home to celebrate, then headed to our cabin in the snowy woods! Im going to decorate each place and these things would be so super cute!! Thanks for sharing KariAnne!! I'm over the moon excited...as if you couldn't tell with all these exclamation points!!! Is it too early to hang Christmas lights😉? Seriously. I think we will hang them in a couple weeks so they will be ready to turn on mid to later in November!

  16. Image for jillian jillian

Oh,Ha Ha...I put up fall the end of august...Took it down this week except for the outside stuff up for little treaters. Have begun bringing in and planning Christmas. Told hubby to start bringing in the trees. (five) on tuesday. It takes weeks, because, hello... older girl here. And it's my favorite. Christmas clothes on the dog!! So, no you are not too early. All the things you posted so cute.

  17. Image for jillian jillian

P.S. Jeanine, start those lights :) Hubby has ours half up, it takes him a week, on about Nov. 18. I may or may not have hung notes in the past at all the mailbox areas begging people to hang winter lights.

  18. Image for Jeanne Jeanne

A fabulous Christmas post..and .just in time! But wait...I remember those stockings...I hung up those stockings...Vintage Stockings...oh no,,you just confirmed that I really am vintage! :)

  19. Image for LynnW LynnW

That IS cute stuff and super reasonable!! Working in retail I always start shopping early....can’t help it when it’s in front of me 🌲. This year it started rolling in early August. Got set up as soon as Sept started 😳 Now I’ll have to get to Walmart 😊

  20. Image for Jo Jo

As usual, you've nailed it in the best way! Thank you. Get ready, my husband, we're heading to Wal-Mart first thing tomorrow morning!!

  21. Image for Holly Holly

Karianne, thank you so much for this post! My family had Christmas stockings just like the ones in your post many years ago. I've been looking for them for years! And your reminder to buy early was so helpful--there were only six left when I placed my order! You made a Christmas dream come true-- thank you again!

  22. Image for Elaine Cunningham Elaine Cunningham

I noticed their cute ribbon when I was there earlier this week. Even sent a picture to my friend. Did I buy some? Nope. Hopefully another day!
