Happy morning.
I’m sorry it took me so long to get here.
I was talking to my mother.
Sometimes I get on the phone with her and it’s hours before I even come up for air. We talk about family and teaching and funny stories and opinions and things that make us laugh and things that make us cry and why pumpkins are amazing.
And when I got off the phone this morning, one thing kept dancing around in my head over and over and over again.
When did she get so smart?
I think it happened when I wasn’t looking. 🙂
Aren’t these flowers beautiful?
They are made from leaves from the yard.
I know…right?
You can see the entire DIY here.
This blogger is literally one of my favorite people on the planet.

Love, love, love the naner puddin' story!! Memories of my Grandmama:) Bless her heart.
Karianne, love everything today. My Mom and Dad came over this morning for breakfast of fruit, cheese and homemade banana nut chocolate chip muffins. Don't know what I would do without them. My Dad has been teaching me about how to use power tools (insert Tim Allen from Tooltime... Grunt..lol) and I used the radial arm saw to cut mounding .. Love!! Keep in mind it is a right handed tool and I'm lefthanded, a challenge but one I accomplished. (Insert another Grunt..lol). Happy Saturday Girlfriend, Patricia (NC Coast)
My daughter and I get chatting and sometimes just keep going, one more thing, etc. so we say, "I don't want to talk to you anymore," as the signal that we have spend WAY, WAY too much time and need to stop, at least for the day. We both understand the joke, though some people thinks it sounds rude...which just goes to show that we all need to find those people who really GET us.
Ha! I remember thinking the same thing about my mom years ago. And how patient she was with me and how much she loved me through all my changes. Years past, and then I had my own daughter. And I remembered all my sweet mother's patience and understanding and advice. So, I exercised patience with her, and I loved her with all my heart and through all her changes. I still do, of course. But then, so does she with me. :-) She's coming to see me in September and I couldn't be more excited!
It must take such a lot of work to round up all of these "shares" KariAnne, but I look forward to them each week. Smile! Such good ones today! Also, I saw your name had made Country Living Magazine's list of bloggers who deserve their own HGTV show, and I'm rooting for you!!! You are the first blogger that I followed, and you're still my favorite! I just LOVE your writing personality!
I miss those phone calls with my mom. She's been gone 15 years and I can still hear her voice. Don't come up for air, KariAnne, even for a fire. Well, okay, for a fire, cuz you have such a cute family and beautiful home!!! ;-D Jane
Seriously. We need to be neighbors. Save me room next door in Heaven, OK? I love these posts because they make me feel like we're chatting about the debris of this week, like we lived on the same block and saw each other at the bus station. So many adventures lately. I have been from Coast to Coast in the last month. And to Philly to boot. Maybe life will let me breathe long enough to post soon. Sigh. Such beautiful places I've seen. Have a wonderful day, friend! The Other Marian
Not only is your mother smart, she is also wise which is even more wonderful.
Mother/daughter bonds are truly one of a kind! Cherish every bit!!!
Don't take one minute of those phone calls for granted. I miss my best friend, my mom, so much I can hardly stand it. She's still alive, but ... Alzheimer's. I won't bore you with the details. I miss the talks about things that matter. Important things. I want her back, but now I have to let go. It's so hard. We're here for such a little while. It's essential that we make it count.
Never give up time with your mom for your bloggers. Mine has been gone for 8 years now and I would love to have her for just a few minutes to chat away on the phone and tell her all about what my boys are up to. Love today's post and the fun links!
I am a new subscriber to your blog and love your writing style. Your stories are so relatable and your home is absolutely beautiful!!! I clicked over to your fall link and fell in love with your blue and white drapes and pillows. Could you please provide me with the information where I could purchase them? I am looking forward to this year's fall tour!!!
I read Jane's post and it brought tears to my eyes...the big kind. I still have my mom and we skype every day. What a great reminder to always have the time. Always love these posts...full of inspiration!
I love the story you shared about multitasking. You make me laugh out loud. I loved the pictures of all the homes and I always enjoy seeing pictures of your home. In one of your pictures, the blue and white curtains go SO well with the blue and white pillows on the two chairs and the design that you drew yourself on the white table. As you can see, I happen to love blue and white. I also love all the tans and off whites that you use. You are truly gifted.
