Have you ever heard of Skillshare before?

I just discovered it.

And just between us  it’s a little life-changing.  It’s kind of like the first time you used your DVR.  You were about to watch the Real Housewives of Somewhere and your friend calls to see if you want to go out to dinner and you really want to, but you also want to see if one of the housewives figures out that the other housewife has been talking about her before their trip to another country and then you remember out of the blue that you can PAUSE LIVE TELEVISION.

It’s that kind of life-changing.

Skillshare is full of class after class of the most amazing things.  Like cake decorating or crafting or felting or drawing or painting or sculpting or taking pictures with your iPhone.

And the best part?

Are you ready?

Are you sitting down?

Want to try it out? You can click here to sign up today and get your first 3 months for just $0.99.

See what I mean?  Totally, utterly and completely life-changing.

Here’s how it works.

Skillshare instructions

When you log-in, you can search for a specific class or browse by popular categories.

You can search for classes at the top of the screen or you can see what’s trending or you can have suggestions sent to your inbox.  Next, you’ll select a class you are interested in and this screen will pop up.

Here are several features you’ll notice right away.

Just click the play button on the screen to start watching.  There’s also a class overview of what the class covers on the left of the screen.  You can take notes on the class in the box below and there’s a community button at the bottom that lets you comment or ask questions or interact with other class participants.

And if you start the class and you think it might not be for you?  No worries.  There are thousands of other classes to try out instead.

Need a few suggestions to get started?

Here some of my favorite online classes.

pic monkey

1.  How To Edit With PicMonkey

I use PicMonkey all the time.

It’s one of the best editing tools out there and comes with a free and a paid version.

This class shows you all the in’s and out’s of how to use it.

She says it so much better than I ever could.

2.  How to Paint Watercolor Florals

This class was super specific and the demos were amazing.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to paint watercolor borders and this is a great springboard for that.

The best part is you can pause mid-demo if you are following along with your brush.

Darby Smart

3. How To Create Viral Videos With Your Cell Phone

I couldn’t believe it when I found a class from Darby Smart founder, Nicole Farb.

She’s so creative and funny and inspiring.

And it’s amazing the content you can create with just a cell phone.

4. iPhone photography:  how to make your pictures stand out

There are so many times I’m somewhere or in the middle of a project or in the middle of a moment and all I have is my phone.

This class was super helpful with basic editing tips to help those phone pictures become even better.

I’m thinking about adding lenses to my i-phone now to take it to the next level.

5.  Hand-lettering basics

I never knew the proper way to hold my pen when writing calligraphy.

It’s such an easy tutorial to follow and I love all the ideas.

Especially the wall art.

6. Hand-lettering On Various Surfaces

I’ve always wondered how they added lettering to random items.

This class answers that question and so much more.

She shows you how to letter on different surfaces (even food)!

I’m not sure which I like better, lettering food or eating it.

7.  How to Become a Better Blogger

There are tons of classes on blogging.

Ideas on how to get started and content planning.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a blog, there are classes for that, too.

8.  How to Draw Your Own Wallpaper

I never thought about this.

But once I started thinking, I couldn’t stop.

What a fun project for a small space in a home.

9.  25 Banners Everyone Can Draw

I’m a little in awe of the instructor.

She’s creative and amazing and incredibly talented.

And she’s right.

Anyone can draw these banners….

….even me. 🙂

This is just a sampling of some of the classes.  It’s just what I’m interested in right now.  There are over 7,000 classes in every possible area you can think of.  But don’t just take my word for it, check it out for yourself.

You can click here to use a special code “thistlewood99”

if you want to sign up for three months for only .99/month

There are thousands

of classes waiting with a seat with your name on it….

….just in case you needed a little life-changer today. 🙂

I've been a member for a while -- it seems like I always need help with something. I think I mentioned making a video on cooking -- bingo - they are the ones who asked. I'm really a chicken at heart. I am going to try to grow a backbone and do it. What did you do the first time you were in front of a camera? At least I could retake 10000 times until I do it right. But I did find two or three classes I need to take from your list. A big thank you hug and have a great weekend.
