Random thoughts on a long weekend full of sunshine:

1. This Memorial Day I want to honor and remember those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us so that we could live in a country where freedom reigns.

My family and I can never thank you enough.

2. Have you seen the Top Gun movie yet? It looks even better than the first one (which shall ever have my heart) and Tom Cruise (somehow) manages to look even cuter.

3. A new episode of “What I Bought Wednesday” is live on my YouTube Channel this week. Sharing the BEST new foundation I discovered (for under $3) and the prettiest blue and white dress.

You can see it here.

4. Yesterday was National Sunscreen Day. Please make sure to add sunscreen to your Memorial Day weekend if you are spending any amount of time in the sunshine.

5. It was an incredible week on the blog. This week featured:

And now?

Wait until you see all the inspiration and ideas I found this week.

LET’S GO.

This beautiful garden tour.

It’s cultivated by my friend Stacy who is a finalist for the Cottages and Bungalows feature contest and she’s SO CLOSE to winning.

It would be amazing if there’s any way you could stop by and vote and encourage her here.

This beautiful summer wreath.

I sighed when I saw it.

You can DIY it here.

Raise your hand if you love ironstone.

Oh, good.

Me, too.

Here’s all about it and how to collect it.

Looking for a fun idea for this weekend?

What about a shrimp boil?

Here are all the details and how to set this pretty table here.

And in random news:

And this

And one more for the road

This is the wreath on the door from the post earlier this week.

It’s so easy to make and you can see the DIY here.

And my best finds from this week

Lots of fun eye candy. The cyanotype pictures look fun, don't they? I appreciated the orange wood article. And I also sighed over the beautiful renovation in myscandinavianhome.com. I want to live there.

We kicked off the weekend by seeing Maverick at the movies yesterday. We have my husband's sister in town for a visit. Memorial Day is tough for me so I surround myself with love ones. I lost one of my closest friend in the TWA high jacking back in 1985. My favorite navy sailor that I dearly loved with my whole heart. Memorial Day, I remember Rob and try to remember all the great memories. Like him sitting on my VW convertible waiting for me to finish practicing for Pom-Pom Tryouts. The piggyback rides through the high school hallways laughing and wearing his letterman's jacket. And, him twirling my long hair sitting behind me in English class. The beautiful memories of a friendship that ended way too soon. A heartbreak that never heals but becomes manageable in time. Enjoy your weekend, wish I could hug you but will when I see you in Haven. Everyone, hug your friends and loved ones.

Thanks, again, KariAnne. for a great Saturday post. Have a wonderful weekend with your family. How thankful we are to those who gave their all so that we could have a good life. My heart goes out to everyone who served and those who lived through it all and came home with such horrible injuries. We are Canadians but we love the USA and spend half the year on SPI, Texas! So, we definitely have a part of our hearts in the USA! My precious Dad served in WW2 and came home with the loss of a leg. However, he was never bitter and never ever complained about all the pain he had. Dad did more with his one good leg and artificial leg than most people did with 2 good legs! How I loved my Dad! He was so precious!

Hi KariAnn, I enjoy your posts but want to ask you a favor?? In the future, can you please be more aware of the origin of the items you describe on your post? I'm a huge advocate of made in the USA .. anything except China. We are in the cross hairs of the CCP and by purchasing things made there only add to their defense funds. This is NOT a joke, my friend. While the prices are great, Wal Mart and Amazon are the worst defenders of selling items made in China. I absolutely love the blue dress you were wearing. My fear is that if you look at the label, it will say made in China. This country enslaves it's people to make goods they can sell to us at lower prices, but those on the assembly lines have had every one of their personal freedoms stripped from them. (Read: Made in China by Amelia Pang for the truth about this issue). I BEG you to please make the utmost effort to showcase things NOT made in China. It's extremely important for the safety of our Country. Your husband served in the Navy. It has been reported that the 7th Fleet is not currently ready to defend against what experts are calling an emenit attack on our soil by the CCP. My message to the USA - on this Memorial Day weekend - PLEASE STOP BUYING THINGS THAT ARE MADE IN CHINA. Thanks so much for allowing me to use this site to warn the public about what the CCP has planned for US. It's URGENT!!
