Random thoughts on a cold December afternoon:

1. You did not imagine it. Yes. Thistlekeeping is running late today. It can’t help it. This morning was all about the twins and their driver’s test.

Yes.

Two twins taking two driver’s test for the second time. The first time didn’t go so well, but this time we went two hours early and drove the course to practice and set up cones and parallel parked a thousand times.

And after a sleepless night of worry and teenage angst and tons of prayer and multiple questions?

This happened.

THEY PASSED.

2. It was an amazing Christmas. I can’t wait to show you the family Christmas presents for this year. I’m posting what I made on Monday. It’s such a fun way to personalize a gift for someone.

3. I know I mentioned it already, but Little Women is amazing. Truly. It’s my favorite movie I’ve seen in a long time.

4. This was a fun week on the blog. We talked about what wise men know and got a jump on the new year with my favorite paint colors for 2020 and I shared some creative ways to get organized after Christmas.

4. I’m trying something a little different in 2020. I’m posting upcoming projects and more of the process behind the projects over on Facebook and Instagram. For example, this week we talked about boxing day and getting organized and I shared the plans I have to decorate the staircase walls in January and a fun idea I’m using to transform simple closet doors. It’s just a way to share more details than I have room for on the blog and give more dimension to the projects.

I’d love it if you followed along with me on Instagram here.

And Facebook here.

And now?

Let’s see what I found this week to inspire all of us.

Happy New Year’s.

Here are five simple tips for your New Year’s table.

You can see them here.

Love this post on thoughts on the new year.

And giving ourselves grace.

With extra grace on top.

So worth the read here.

I love the end of the year posts with all the projects.

I’m posting mine on Tuesday.

This post was one of my favorites so far.

And in amazing craft news, you will never, never, NEVER believe what she turned these ties into.

It’s seriously the cutest.

You can see the craft project here.

And in random news this week:

I meant to make these this year and forgot

The best products for under-eye circles

So many cute ideas for cheeseballs

I’m going to start this again

I love this simple centerpiece

What designers say about 2020

I wish I would have thought of this

This beauty Q & A

My mother-in-law told me this was her favorite project I’ve made.

I’ll call that a New Year’s win.

One more for the road

And in my Christmas archive, I found this post.

Back when we used to cut down Christmas trees at our neighbor’s farm.

Look how little the twinlebins were.

And now?

They are driving.

Excuse me while I go have a really good cry. ๐Ÿ™‚

happy random Saturday to you

Umh, Karianne? Most people may not know or care, but I don't trust FaceBook or Instagram. They sell our info and send us false info, trying to get us to not trust real news resources. Trying to undermine our democracy by sending us lies, disguised as "news". So I will stick with good old emails, and when you stop providing those, I will sadly wish you a good bye.

Twins both wanting to use the car....I can see a story coming about this dilemma in the future. Have a great weekend and congratulations to your sweet girls.

I love LOVE your blog and sweet precious thoughts and stories. Congratulations for the twins passing their driving tests. It brought back memories of teaching my precious stepdaughter.....a very scarey time in our lives. I took her several times to practice everything in a town about 30 miles out of the city where there was less traffic and distractions. The female state trooper passed her but pulled me aside and suggested that she practice some more before she is off on her own. We celebrated over pancakes at IHOP. Looking forward to the New Year and continuing to follow you! Happy New Year fellow Texan!

My son passed his driver's test this summer--not on the first try. Let me just tell you, it was probably the most stressful summer of my life. I cannot imagine having TWO taking the driver's exam. Good luck mama!

Congratulations to the twins, in some ways it's a good thing but, sometimes you will miss that time. I always love these posts and enjoy them. Have a great Sunday with your family and a Happy New Year.

Congrats to the girls! My son is still getting a few more hours of driving in until he is eligible for the test. We're a little concerned about parallel parking around here. Ha. In other news, tomorrow is our girl's day trip to see Little Women and I'm super excited!! I'm seeing more movies this Christmas break than I typically do. We saw Frozen 2 (meh) and Midway (very good, especially if you like history). Need to schedule a time to see Star Wars. Oh, and something I know you'll appreciate .... my hubby gave me the Downton Abbey DVD for Christmas. As usual, I enjoy your weekly updates. I'm not concerned that you will quit your blog but as I don't have Facebook or Instagram, I won't be following along with you on that portion of your journey.

Congrats to the twins! Do I see matching beetle bugs in the future? Looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve in 2020.

The craft I best remember for ties a quilt. I've seen some beauties! Unfortunately, my husband only has a handful of ties, and he's threatened me if I touch them! Congratulations on the twins getting their drivers license. You should be so incredibly proud! Have a great weekend, rockstar!

Congrats to the twins on getting their drivers License. Hurray! I remember so well my girls getting theirs, and how nervous I was every time they drove without me, but many years later, theyโ€™re good drivers and I now just bless myself when they leave and put it all into Godโ€™s loving hands. Enjoy your new freedom girls. Itโ€™s quite a privilege. ๐Ÿšฆ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš™

Oh my, I still remember my daughter learning to drive. Nearly landed in a field of cows once. Now she is nearing her 30th birthday. How time flies.

Last week I was coming back from a walk and as I went to open the door a car drove in. It was my grandson........driving! He just turned 17. in a split second the memories of him holding my hand while learning to walk came flooding back and I started to cry. He put his arms around me and reassured me that it was ok. Congrats to the twins! I'm not on facebook or Instagram because I just felt like I was being overwhelmed with information. I've unsubscribed to many blogs. Yours is one of the few I still receive because you always make me laugh, cry, keep me informed, keep me crafting, keep me up to date design wise because I love my house and I want it to a happy place, etc. etc. etc.

Congratulations to the twins!!! Super exciting for them to be on the road and for you too!! Kinda scary, but good ๐Ÿ˜Š I am excited to see whatโ€™s ahead in the New Year ๐Ÿพ Wow.....2020!!!

Awww!! Yay for the twins!! Good job, girls!! Guess what?!? My sister-in-law told us on Christmas that she is expecting her first babies!!! Yes, twins!!! I am over the moon!!

  18. Image for Lynn Mosher Lynn Mosher

    Yay! Congrats to the girls! Way to go! I had to take mine test three times! Ugh! KariAnne, don't dry too many tears. You need to save a few for the next big steps in their lives. {wink}

Whoo hooo! Grats, twins!!!! My sister loved when her girls were able to drive to the bajillion practices for cheer and clubs they had. What will you do with all your extra time not being a Mom Taxi Driver???

  20. Image for MARY-ANN (FROM CANADA!) MARY-ANN (FROM CANADA!)

Congrats to those beautiful gals in getting their driving licenses! I know they will be so happy! KariAnne, I am no longer on Facebook because I had a bad experience. I have often thought of giving it another chance but when I think of what I went through, it reassures the fact that I really don't need to be on it! Have a great week!

Double-congrats to the twins! And, to you, too, as you'll have SO much more time for EVERYTHING, since you won't have to do the chauffeur-ing. Don't tell anyone, but I've not read Little Women, nor seen any of the previous movies. I've heard you'll get lost in the new movie if you don't have some idea of who is where and why. What do you think??

Congratulations girls!! This is a very exciting time in their life. Praying for safety. Enjoy every minute. I love your post and you make us feel as if we are part of your family. God bless you and your family in 2020.
