Random thoughts on a rainy Saturday morning:

1. I cannot believe I am about to type these words….we are heading to Waco to try stand up paddleboarding. You know. The kind of paddleboarding where you stand up on a board and paddle. Don’t tell my family, but I’m a little nervous about the standing up part.

I may just lay on the board and paddle with my hands.

And call it a paddleboard day.

2. It was an exciting week on the blog. We solved the problem of an off-center overhead light and took one step forward and two steps back and discussed the best tips on how to pick paint colors for an entire house and I showed you all my amazing Walmart finds.

3. We are about to pull up the carpet in our bedroom next week.

Fingers crossed for what we’ll find.

4. And in SUPER exciting news—-I have a new book coming out. I can’t WAIT for you all to see it because YOU were part of it. Remember about 2 years ago when I asked you all for all the decorating questions? Well, my friend Melissa and I put 100 of the questions into a book and answered them.

It’s called But Where Do I Put the Couch:?: And Answers to 100 Other Decorating Questions.

You can pre-order it here and here.

But that’s not the best part. I want to invite YOU to be part of the launch team for the book. Yes. YOU. It’s going to be so much fun. If you’ve been in one of my other launch groups you know how much we laughed and talked decorating and we gave out tons of prizes.

All you have to do is scroll down for your invite at the end of the post.

And now?

Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week.

Love this idea of painting the fence black.

The contrast is so pretty.

You can see the rest of the porch here.

I love to watch people’s styles evolve.

This breakfast nook is so fresh.

You can see the before and after here.

Love this simple idea for drying flowers.

It’s perfect for this season.

See the entire DIY here.

If you have ever wondered how to hide your television?

This is the post for you.

So many fun television-hiding tips found here.

And in random news this week:

This adorable sandcastle cake

This beautiful summer centerpiece

This library tour

Things only southerners say

These ideas for accent walls

Budgeting a kitchen remodel

The beams in this bedroom

These pineapple nutella smores.

And here’s my latest favorite blog. She’s funny and sweet and lives in Waco and has the most amazing projects like this one and this one and….

….oh wait this one that I NEED to make for Christmas.

AND HERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn’t it beautiful? And the best part? It’s FUNNY, too.

Want a sneak peek inside?

There are HUNDREDS of pages full of the relatable, honest, do-able answers to all the questions.

And we start with the couch.

And where to put it.

And how to fit it into your room.

But that’s not all.

Melissa and I discuss space planning and paint colors and accessories and styling and organization.

And the best part?

It’s all the questions that YOU wanted to be answered.

The book releases September 10, but you can pre-order it on Amazon here. and from Barnes and Noble here.

And we’d love for you to be a part of it.

You can apply for our launch team through this form here.

Thank you for being such an incredible support and encouragement to me.

None of this would be possible without you.

Happy random Saturday to you.

When you told me you shared me on your blog, I didn’t know whether to cry or jump for joy!!! You seriously inspired me to create a blog 2 years ago! I remember telling my husband 3-4 years ago about a blog called Thistlewood Farms... it took me another year or two to get started. To know that I can now call you, Kari Anne a friend, is surreal and inspiring for me to keep going! Thank you for inspiring me at Haven, and in the blogging community.
