Random thoughts on an almost-cold Saturday morning:
1. The twins had friends over last night to make chocolate chip cookies for a friend of the family’s wedding. I have never heard so much laughter in my entire life. And their laughter? It made me laugh. And then they laughed. It was a laughterapalooza.
2. Today is the Big 12 Championship. If that statement means nothing to you, do not stop by the house today from 11:00-2:00 to watch the Texas Longhorns take on Oklahoma. There might be yelling instead of laughter.
3. I just started ordering Christmas presents yesterday. I can’t believe Amazon is still standing. Raise your hand if you love online shopping as much as I do.
4. In the love department, I think I may want a relationship with this pair of scissors. In my mind, I’m sitting around my house with Santa pajamas and a cup of hot cocoa wrapping presents with fancy office supplies. I’ve put them in my cart. I’ve taken them out. They are currently sitting in the basket waiting for me to decide if gold and acrylic scissors are a must-have this holiday season.
4. And today?
Today is the first day the twins are getting behind the wheel of a car. They have their permits and my father-in-law is taking them out on some back country roads to practice.
Help me Lord.
I need prayer.
Let’s distract ourselves with the best of what the internet has been up to this week.
This wall of mirrors.
I found it touring this house.
I need to find a place for this in my home.
Today is the first day of Advent.
If you haven’t gotten your calendar ready yet, here’s a simple idea.
See the DIY here.
(total easy advent aside: if you don’t have bags like this, you could always use that set of paper bags that they sell at Hobby Lobby. Just marker them up and your set and looked like you prepared for months ahead of time.)
I love the simplicity of this table setting.
And a brilliant idea?
She layered the runners.
See the rest of the table setting here.
And of all the tours on the planet….
…this one was my favorite.
It’s so fresh and navy and red and plaid and amazing.
Take the entire home tour here.
And in random news this week:
So excited for this friend
I’m making this for the twins’ rooms
Make your own outdoor planter
What will life think up next
Brussel sprouts? Like this? Yes, please
Upgrade your wreath for free
This made me sigh
And I’m adding this to the walls of the upstairs living room
This new year’s resolution that just got checked. You go girl.
And you know when have to bring a gift to play at the family game or your pokeno group or your bunko group or your girlfriend’s gift swap and you can’t think of anything.
No worries.
I got you.
I just ordered this for only $13.
One more for the road.
This is the perfect craft to make and decorate with until Valentine’s day.
See the DIY here.
Happy Random Saturday to you.

Love Thistlekeeping! Thank you! Also, buy the scissors! 😉
Thanks for the reply and link.We have our own windows so will figure out the hanging part! Again thanks ever so much.
Haha, we are in the same season of life with new drivers behind the wheel. Our favorite quote from my son's driver's ed teacher?? "Just stop somewhere!" It's definitely a bit nerve-wracking. And you have two to train at the same time. Ack!
Thanks for all the great ideas today 💜. Good luck to the new drivers...they will do great! Especially with Grandpa and backroads. 😊
We live on those backroads!!! Lol Well not in Texas...
Best wishes to the twins on their first driving lesson. I still recall mine after all these years. The first time my dad took me out, he fell asleep! At least they do not have to contend with snowy, icy roads like we have in the Northeast. Have an amazing day, KariAnne!
I'm pretty sure you NEED the scissors! Just saying....
Laughing so much about the scissors. At our house, fiskars are orange-handled paper scissors which can be used by any two-legged creature who happens to need to cut PAPER. On the other hand, Ginghers belong to ME. They cut FABRIC ONLY. Any other creature (gray haired, bald, blonde, skinny, round, short, tall) who attempts to remove the ginghers from my sewing room for nefarious purposes other than cutting fabric stands in risk of being removed from the family tree (or at least never getting another quilt made by his wife or mother [me]). Buy the scissors,, but hide them! PS....even my adorable 4 year-old granddaughter who is learning to sew with me knows which scissors belong only to Mimi (training her right!).
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support. I truly appreciate it. I'm sending you aaaaaall the prayers! I can't even imagine how terrifying it must be to have your girls behind the wheel!
Oh yes, teenagers driving. I lived through six of them...and it never got easier! ;)
I can’t find a like to the beautiful snow flakes-did you buy them or diy? Thx
Bridget, They came from Balsam Hill! Here's the link: https://www.balsamhill.com/p/antiqued-snowflake-ornament-set Happy day! karianne
Oh no! I just saw they are sold out. I'm so sorry! ka
So sad —they are really beautiful. I will have to watch next year.
Sorry-the “link”
How was the driving??? I'm a few days late in reading!!! Praise to Grandpa's teaching grandaughters to drive! And, looking at those beautiful snowflakes from Balsam Hill...Maybe you could paint thin dowel rods copper and glue some gems other sparkly things from Michael's and make your own???Just an idea....they are beautiful!!!
The twins will be great drivers! No worries... I just bought some fabulous rose-gold scissors that I threatened the rest of my household within an inch of their lives if I see them get even close to those glorious scissors. So, I say GO FOR IT - buy them. And finally, that counter/cook top??? What?? Yes, alas, we must move to Spain, also.
