Random thoughts on a football weekend:

1. If you live within 50 miles of the Red River this is the weekend you wait for all year.  It’s Texas/OU weekend.

As for me and my house?  We are rooting for Texas.

2. Did anyone watch Poldark Sunday?

At the risk of stating the obvious, Ross Poldark and his flowing locks saved the day again.

3.  It was a great week on the blog.  We had brilliant fall decorating ideas and made sweater pumpkins and discussed Round Top and ideas for decorating with vintage finds.

4. I’m so excited about Christmas this year.  It’s the first true Christmas in the new old house and since we’ll be at home now for Christmas I can put up real trees.

Are you a real tree or faux tree person?

5. Somewhere along the way, I decided I CAN’T EVEN with people cracking their knuckles.

Does this bug you, too?  Yes or no?

And now?

Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week:

Does this not make you want to find old windows?

And decorate with them?

Oh, good.

Me, too.

You can see the rest of the decorating details here.

Love this post on photo styling.

There were so many props just like these at Round Top.

You can see the rest of the photos here (and they are AMAZING).

This textured vase DIY.

It’s so easy and looks so vintage.

See the DIY here.

And this sweet cottage.

It’s decorating for early autumn.

Yes, yes, yes - knuckle cracking and gum snapping drive me nuts! Happiest of Saturdays to you Ms. Karianne.

Wowzee, I am with you on the knuckle cracking...makes me want to crack a few other things on them. 😉😰 Happy weekend!

Happy Fall, Karianne I recognized Craftberry Bush's lovely DIY textured vase right away. As always, you always find such fun projects to feature. Thanks so much for including my props in your weekly roundup. It's been a busy summer for me but I'm getting my land legs now that I'm officially an "empty nester". Crazy, right? Hope everything else is well in your neck of the (thistle) woods Happy Saturday to you. xoxo.

Yes to Poldark! If you want to lighten your mood, watch The Durrells of Corfu. And I am a faux tree person. I grew up with a family who insisted on real trees. Oh, the mess and frustration of falling needles and crooked trunks! I can perfectly time putting up and taking down my tree, I know how many strings of lights I need, and I can throw a few real pine branches on the mantel for that signature odor if I so desire. I have no strong opinions on cracking knuckles but I haven't been around anyone who does that recently. Happy weekend and thanks for the visual candy on Thistlekeeping!

Hi Karianne ~ I loved seeing you sitting in your new blue and white living room - and, of course, you and your outfit matched it! - for the Coffee Chat. I kept wondering about the necklace you were wearing. In fact, I admit not concentrating on the talk about grout because I was curious about the necklace! Maybe I missed a blog where you talked about it. I'm thinking maybe it was homemade or a gift from someone special? Anyway, the Chat was fun to watch and getting to see your living room in real use was fun, too. I love your blog and your house and all the poignant stories you share with us about your life. :>)

Please stop using the expression "CAN'T EVEN". It makes no sense and you are entirely too smart to say that. THANK YOU

KariAnne, The link to the post about the book club is beyond words to describe what I am feeling. I am part of a book club that is celebrating its 9th anniversary this November, and many of the things the writer discussed have been experienced by my book club... except having babies.... but several members have had GRANDbabies in these 9 years. I liked the article so much I sent a link to all of my book club members. And, remember, Rockstar, you can please some of the people all of the time, but some of the people SOME of the time. You ROCK! Write the way you want to write... we get it. Judith

Wow! Hateful much? When you post your own blog you can say whatever you want however you want. Some of us actually understand what "Can't Even" means and we have no problem with it. I Can't Even with your reply.

What a fun Thistlekeeping! I am obsessed with that little blue and white chicken dish and will be searching for one. the book club essay brought a tear to my eye as I recalled the life events that I have happened during my book clubs, and I found the perfect floor for my mudroom. Yes to real trees (Fraser firs are the best for lasting a long time), Poldark (my absolute favorite show), and no to knuckle cracking! Have an amazing day, KariAnne!

You know I watched it !! So good to have everyone back... I am trying this year to go all natural on my decorating...getting rid of my silk mums and leaves...and only decorating with real pumpkins, gourds, mums. Love your blog as always.

Karianne, Love your stories, your design sense, and your inspiration. You are a favorite of mine! "Can't Even" is a colloquialism. It's your writing style and we LOVE it! Keep it up please. (Granbury Texas gal)

Your Thistlekeeping Saturday posts are some of my favorite reads... I love your writer's voice - it is so upbeat and optimistic and encourages me! I notice you've mentioned Poldark a couple of times... Is it a really heavy show to watch? Are there characters and storylines to cheer for? I'm trying to figure out if I'd enjoy it too!

I loved the coffee chat and "grout color friends"! I also loved your living room!! And, I also loved the red highlights in your hair!!! xoxoxo
