Random thoughts on a chilly Saturday morning:
1. I’m in the middle of a Fixer Upper marathon. I had a lot of furniture to paint and Joanna is keeping me company. Can we all just agree that she’s brilliant?
2. I think I’m going to go all wood with my doors. They are so pretty and five paneled and there is beautiful wood underneath all that paint. I just have to find it.
3. I’m about to go to brunch with my in-laws to an Irish restaurant. I have no idea what the Irish eat for breakfast. I’ll keep you posted.
4. I just added several speaking dates to the calendar. My newest book, The DIY (Decorate It Yourself) Home Planner will be for sale at all Kirkland’s and I’m on a Kirkland’s tour. There will be a special shopping coupon and I’m giving a talk that may or may not be funny and showing fun, creative ways to style a bookcase and signing books and I’d love to meet you.
You can see all the locations here.
And now?
Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week.

Love the article on doing nothing. Frenetic activity has never served me well. Good to know I'm not alone. On a different note, the pitcher in your first picture is stunning!
Guiness: not just for breakfast anymore. : - )
Can't believe I read the pancake love story 6 years ago and STILL giggle and think of blue goo and you every time I make blueberry pancakes! Today I made banana pancakes. ;) Guiliana's house is lovely and I remember their designer Lonni Paul when she was a finalist on Design Star so long ago. And yes, Joanna is brilliant...like you. Sounds like you'll be meeting many friends on your busy book tour. So happy for you!
Oh I wish you had a Miami stop!! I would so camp out to see you at Kirkland’s! I preordered your book in January and I can’t wait to receive it!! Have a happy Saturday!!
I think Irish breakfasts are on the keto side.
I didn’t know what you would chat about today, but I was glad you said your book. I got word yesterday from Amazon that there is an updated delivery date, and I’ll see it next week. We have our house for sale and bought a fixer upper in a new place. Thought it would be a great thing for me to work through, well after the contractor has been through it. And as for colors, those are Irish Cream and Dover White. Sherwin Williams. My stairs and other accents Tricorn Black. Will be excited to get to it. Just wanted to share. Thanks for all the smiles. Kathi
I love all of your posts, but especially Thistlekeeping! It posts on a day when I have a bit more time to peruse and it's always filled with great ideas/inspiration/beauty, etc. Sherwin Williams has been my favorite paint since 2012. Your color suggestions have saved the house several times! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Still praying for a California book-signing... namely in Chino. I would bring a whole caravan!
So, I read the love story and laughed and laughed and laughed...thank you!
I think you should put Destin, FL on your Kirkland tour. You could make a nice vacation out of it. :)
KariAnne, I look forward to seeing how you refurbish your doors. I have lots of old doors here that I would like to bring back to their wood glory. Thanks for starting my day with Thistlekeeping.
I am so excited you are coming to Nashville!!!! I can’t wait to meet you!!
I believe I am receiving a special valentine Wednesday from Amazon! I am in the middle of a decorating project and am excited about your book!
So many fun and beautiful ideas, but that book....it's amazing. Very well done, friend!
I had striped the 1939’s trim around my large corner windows last summer. It had layers built up plus my mother in law was coming to visit. Decorating and painting were on hold but her visit pushed me. There were layers of white, cream, blue & greens paint that surfaced. I gave it a distress look and loved it. You know, sadly I had started stripping that window 13 years ago when my mom was well. She told me that raw wood industrial look was in. I am either really behind or ahead of my ideas, either way I am keeping it. Now I will strip the doors this summer and paint walls white or ‘piece of cake’ MMarket paint and accent black, and green/blues. I am an artist & my plan is to keep up with my ideas and be inspired by you. Thank you Katherine, for the reminders and wonderful ideas. Kathleen
Sorry ...autocorrect ...Katherine but Karianne.

where did you find, how did you make, ??? the lovely wreath. love your blog each and every time.
I read the book and I love it. Awww the printables are extremely lovely I like it.:)
Saturday is my favorite day because Fixer Upper is on all day! Joanna is the inspiration for all of my decorating and crafting adventures. The pantry door in this old house we just bought is painted a dusty lavender (is that even a color?). And the ceiling was painted mustard yellow - that had to go immediately! It was a very odd color combination to say the least, especially with black and white checkerboard flooring. My plan is to strip all the paint off the door when it gets a little warmer outside and stain it a beautiful dark pecan color to match the 100 year old butcher block island in my kitchen that weighs at least 84,000 pounds. If it doesn't turn out well, well.....I'll skip to plan B, which is paint the door black.
