Looking for transforming furniture for small spaces? Here are some options with furniture that lives large to maximize space in a room.

Need extra storage? Or a workstation that doubles as a coffee table? Here are 8 different options for transformable furniture.

Remember transformers?

They were amazing.

There was a robot that turned into an airplane.

And a truck that turned into a flying machine.

And a bird that turned into a motorcycle.

But as incredible as all that is? You know what’s even more stupendous?

Transforming furniture.

Yep.

Furniture that starts life as something and then you blink. And it turns into something else. It’s kind of amazing for small spaces. Transforming furniture is perfect for smaller spaces and apartments and places that don’t have a lot of room. You don’t need a lot of furniture when your furniture is doing double duty.

I just added some new pieces to my family room.

Want to see?

Oh, good.

They look like this.

Let’s start with the table in the family room.

I just discovered it.

Doesn’t it looks so cute and farmhousy just sitting there?

But really?

It’s a transformer in disguise.

Watch this.

Isn’t that the cutest table?

You just pull up the top and it turns into a desk to write on or a table for snacks or a place to play games or work on puzzles or a workstation.

It’s SUCH a good value for the price.

The top is so solid and there’s TONS of storage inside the top. The mechanism to pull it up is really solid and has good construction. There are faux handles on both sides of the coffee table and it measures 43in W x 21in D x 18in H.

You can see how pretty the wood grain is in this picture. It’s literally one of my favorite new pieces for the house.

It looks like higher-end pieces I have seen at a fraction of the price.

You can see it here.

And now?

Here’s another transformer.

This farmhouse desk matches the coffee table and it measures 47.5 W x 20 D x 31 H inches.

It’s the same amazing quality and it’s under $100.

You can see it here.

I know it looks like a simple desk.

But really?

It has a BUILT-IN charging station on the side.

Yep.

You just plug it in and you can add devices to the top of the desk.

Another transformer in disguise.

And did you see the storage ottoman next to it?

Isn’t it so cute?

It’s another one of my favorite things.

It has a tufted top and buttons and the prettiest gray weave fabric and it measures 17.5″ W x 17.5″ D x 16.5″ H.

But it’s a transformer, too.

When you lift the lid?

It looks just like this.

Tons of storage inside.

I’m storing blankets in there right now, but I thought about using it to store puzzles or extra office supplies for the desk.

You can see the ottoman here.

And the best part?

These are just a handful of the transformers I found.

Here are a few more:

  1. this loveseat that turns into a sleeper sofa
  2. this desk with a built-in charging station
  3. this leather futon that turns into a bed
  4. this gray tufted storage ottoman
  5. this gray tufted futon that turns into a bed
  6. this farmhouse table with a pull-up top
  7. this velvet tufted storage ottoman
  8. this rustic coffee table with pull up top

I hope you like transformers as much as I do.

They are such a great way to make a small space live large.

And besides?

There’s nothing like a piece of furniture that works just as hard for a living. 🙂

Your living room table, all farmhouse-y, looks like it's smiling. I guess that's what you do when you hide a secret, right?

I am accused of buying a lot of furniture. Or replacing perfectly good furniture. Hmmmm maybe I could use your blog as an excuse for doing it.🤣 all lovely itels. Thank you for sharing.

I'm sure you cringe when someone asks where you got small random items in the photos but.... the greenery on the table at the corner of the two couches, is it eucalyptus? And is it a "bush" that you just spread out? It looks great!

That's an amazing price for that lift-top coffee table. A friend of mine ordered one a number of years ago and paid about four times that amount.

My sister has a similar coffee table and it's genius! Another furniture item that I saw at a local furniture store was one of those tables that goes behind your sofa. It had a hinged top and the idea was that it could be a sofa table some of the time and unhinged, it was a dining table. For people who are short on space but who occasionally want to host guests, it's a great idea. I have a fascination with transformer furniture!
