Random thoughts on a sunny summer Saturday alliterative morning:

1. My husband woke me up to tell me there was a yard sale right around the corner from us. Isn’t it funny? He said yard sale, but it sounded like sweet nothings to me.

2. It was an amazing week on the blog. This week we talked about:

3. I’m all about this punctuation mark { –}.  I’m not sure what to call it–the dash?  The middle mark?  The line halfway beside a letter?  Whatever it’s called–I adore it.  It’s perfect for adding that last little thought–with emphasis.

4. Has anyone else watched the mini-series called The Pillars of the Earth?  A friend recommended it to me and I read about it and I think I’m in.

They had me at 12th century.

5. Have you ever written a word that you’ve written your entire life and suddenly, it looks like you spelled it incorrectly?  You keep checking and the dictionary says it’s right, but it just looks wrong.  So you type it and re-type it and ask your friends and double-check it and you just can’t wrap your head around it.  I do that all the time.

Like the word recipe. Doesn’t it seem like it should have another “e”?

6. And can I get an opinion?

What do you think of cutting off the bottom of your sweatshirt if it’s too long so it rolls up just a little bit? Too much?  Trying too hard?  Too vagabond-meets-mom fashion?

Inquiring fashion minds want to know.

And now—here are a few of my favorite finds from the internet this week.

Oh, KariAnne — yes, I do the word thing all the time!! (Notice the dash for emphasis😊) Thank you so much for another great Thistlekeeping post, and for including my painted pillows! Have a great weekend, friend!

Can any one say VACCUM...? That is one of the words for me that at times doesnt seem spelled correctly. It is, but my brain says differently. As for the dash..I've never really gotten into it. Maybe I should try because for a long time I have over used the (dot, dot, dot ...). But thats a discussion for another time. You left us with a list of things to check out. So I have to go treat myself and check them out. Have a wonderful Saturday. AND-As always-you made me smile.

That is so true about spelling of words and staring at it until I log back in to grammarly. Quick question I shared the cutest find at a shop in mckinney it is on same side of street of spoons and on a corner ( candles, cutest coasters I bought). I cannot remember the name & google maps was no help! Tons of mud pie ceramic pieces

Loved the punctuation remarks. I read somewhere that ‘old people’ use exclamation marks more than ‘young people’!! Isn’t that crazy!! Can you guess my age? Thank you for the happy post!! Whee!!!!

Read the Pillars of the Earth books by Ken Follett. They're long but so good!!! Pillars of the Earth is one of my favorite books!!!

The spelling thing...it gets worse with age. I have always been an extremely good speller and it has always come easily, but the last several years I find myself searching spellings more and more frequently just because something doesn't look right. Thank goodness for the internet...but I think it might be good for us to start using dictionaries again and perhaps teach children to use dictionaries as well.

I don't know where you find it all but you do an excellent job. Thank you. I collect old dictionaries and they are kept in bedroom, LR, comes in handy.

The stool ... Inspired By Charm's kitchen .... and the furniture makeovers .... they are making me overuse what I understand is the "overused by a certain age group" ellipsis. When I Google it, apparently I am using ellipses incorrectly. I can't even manage to overuse punctuation correctly. Sigh.

As always great thistles, KA!! Have to say Michael's kitchen remodel took the cake, er I mean PIE. Thanks for sharing that. It's really great. And yes to how odd sometimes words look properly spelled.

Pillars of the Earth is a brilliant book and perfect for summer reading. Like in most cases, the book is way better than the movie (or mini-series).

Absolutely go for it - cut off that sweater! You're vibrant and it'll look great on you. The only time I feel it looks like 'trying too hard' as you say is when it's too short. Love your blog! You do such a lovely job.

Yes! I'm a proofreader and editor and writer and I still do that with the word thing! It's usually on my own writing for some reason. Also! I love this idea about cutting off long tees and sweatshirts. I never ever thought of that. Thanks! You are such a cutie and I love your posts. Have a great week!
