Tomorrow is the Fourth of July.

But today?

Today is Wednesday.

An ordinary, run-of-the-mill Wednesday.

This morning I was drinking coffee and waving my hands and talking about today and baseball games and shopping and a project we have to work on and how excited I was and randomly jumping up and down and in the middle of the entire conversation my husband started laughing.

I stopped mid-sentence.

“What?” I said. “What’s so funny?”

“I finally figured out what makes you tick,” he grinned.

“You always think there’s something amazing about to happen just around the corner.”

He’s right, you know.

He succinctly summed me up in better words than I ever could.

I’m an optimist.

An eternal believer that the glass is half full.

On the Enneagram scale, I’m a 7.

That’s the enthusiast. It’s the number for people who randomly stand up and cartwheel across the living room and give themselves standing ovations and look for an adventure around every corner and believe that you should never put off eating a brownie fudge sundae.

And so today, me and my cartwheeling, applauding, Enneagram self wanted to share a little joy with you.

Yep.

You.

Just in case you needed some.

Just in case you had a hard week.

Just in case you were a little sad.

Just in case.

I wanted to share.

Nothing fancy.

Nothing earth-shattering.

But today–when I sat in that kitchen and watched the sunlight and took that first sip of coffee and thought about all that is amazing in this world…

….I stopped.

I stopped for just an instant to take it all in until my heart was so full of joy at that exact moment that it was about to burst.

Joy that the grass is so green and the sun is so bright.

Joy that my sweet husband grinned at me when I found Chex Mix for a dollar at Kroger.

Joy that the dog had a bath.

Joy that I discovered chocolate glazed doughnut coffee has zero calories.

Simple.  Sweet.  Wonderful.  Joy.

And I was trying to think of a way to share all this joy.

So I wanted to take a moment to tell you....yes….you with the coffee or the hot tea or the diet coke with the blueberry muffin.

You.

You.  Are.  Amazing.

A rock star.

Truly.

I thought you needed to know.

Just in case no one mentioned it to you today I wanted to be the first.

Now you probably already knew how amazing you are and you probably are like thank goodness she finally noticed me and my amazing self and mentioned it.

You probably already figured out that you are a rock star

And from one rock star to another…..

…..I totally agree.

PS  If you get a chance today….maybe spread a little joy in your corner of the world….there’s probably someone else amazing who needs it.

PPS Something amazing is just around the corner. Happy July Fourth.

I love it. I talk with my hands and get super excited about simple things and squeal with delight at nothing, so I totally get you. Yes, you are amazing.

You a big ray of sunshine! Thank you for the blessing of your post today. I saw a little thing on Pinterest that said some like, the pessimist's cup is half empty, the optimist's cup is half full, but the Psalmist's cup runs over. I love that!

How do you know? HOW do you know when someone has an sad heart and they need to hear, or read, words like this. You made me cry. It was a nice cry, though. Thank you for being so amazing. Karianne, tell Twinkle Eyes he's right. You are a walking, talking happy bomb!

Hi Karianne, Did you know it takes more energy to frown than to smile? I think the same goes for being negative over positive! Having an attitude of gratitude each day, even about the little things such as the bluest sky and the greenest grass is such a better way to expend energy! I'm sure that is what attracted your husband to you in the first place...he just couldn't label it! It sure is a beautiful attribute! So rock on with your joy-bringing, something amazing is around the corner self! Love reading all aspects of your blog!

There is a reason that I kept following your blog when my cousin Cheryl recommended it, and a reason I’ve latched in to each of your books and never delete your emails. What is that reason? It’s YOU! That amazing friend who now lives hundreds of miles away instead of a mere 45 minutes away - that I’ve never met in person! You embody the gift of encouragement!! Have a truly blessed regular ol’ Wednesday! I know you’ll turn it into something spectacular!

Love this post! Such words of wisdom and beautiful pictures! Gotta love those peony arrangements, too! I was just in my gardens this morning at 6:00, rescuing what is left of my lovely peony blossoms after three days of rain. I gathered up armfuls and brought them to the house where I deposited them in pails of water and flower food. Tomorrow I will arrange them in bouquets for my Farmer's Market stand. Now to just find enough vases! Our peonies bloomed so late this year, due to the cold and rainy spring. Here it is, July 3rd already, and I still have peonies budding. I left nothing to chance, and gathered the buds, too. Put those in my refrigerator where they will stay for a few weeks. Did you know you can refrigerate the peony buds and use them up to three months later? Happy fourth of July!

You did spread that wonderful joy to me! And now, I’m off to share it with someone here in Nashville! I’ll probably throw in a little southern love with it! Thanks for the joy! And, because I write a little baby blog so my family will always know where I am, thanks for writing your great big joyful blog....blogs are time-consuming and can rob me of joy (I’m just not internet savvy). Your writing always encourages me!

The effervescent joy of the Lord flows from you my dear! You put a smile on my heart and I needed your overflowing enthusiastic joy today. I'm about to be assessed for pulmonary rehabilitation hopefully they'll help my breathing and give me more strength to do the things I want to do. After all, my kitchen cabinets aren't finished being painted yet and it's been over a year! That's what happens when your mind says go but your body says no! So thanks for reminding me that I'm amazing and that something good is right around the corner! I'm always reminded by his Word that God is always good, and thankfully he's not just around the corner he's right here with me and that is good! Love and appreciate you so much, you are like 1000 white light bulb full of blessings!

You are amazing Karianne! I am not an eternal optimist--never have been. But I have learned during my 75 years to keep my eye on the positive, not always on the negative. I am not always able to, but I do try daily. You are very lucky to have the natural optimistic outlook that you have. You are an inspiration to those to whom it doesn't come so naturally--like me. Blessings! And Happy 4th!

You are so sweet. I’m having a good day too. I found out on Tuesday that my husband does not have any form of dementia. He has atypical depression which can be cured with medication. Thank you Dear Lord. Happy 4th of July everyone.

Thank you for this reminder of all the blessings in everyday moments....I've been irritated this week that the rest of the nation has a nice four day weekend while I'm at my desk on July 4th, but I'm lucky to have a job I love....with a killer view of the mountains outside my office window. And I'm sipping a big mason jar of old fashioned sweet tea while hopping around blogland on my lunch break! Simple blessings, right there!

I just love your attitude - you are a rock star too! Just an aside, my perfect morning is going out on the deck at 5AM with the dogs. They toodle around the yard and I watch the sun come up. Even though I live in the middle of a subdivision it feels like the whole world but me is sleeping. That's my happy place! Thanks for sharing all of your happy moments with us :)
