Can I tell you how much fun I had writing this post?

Apparently I LOVE to mix and match pillows and I didn’t even know it.

When I posted the spring tour this year—I got so many questions about the pillows in this room. There is a LOT of pattern going on in this room. I get it. I understand that it might be a little overwhelming. But for me and my living room? We never met a blue and white pillow that we didn’t like.

People asked where I got the pillows and how did I match the pillows and how did I know which pattern went with what.

Most of these pillows came from random places that don’t have them anymore, so I thought it might be fun if I went and found pillows and matched them up for you.

I started with one set. I was just going to put one set together for you to show you how to match patterns and scale. But there were so many cute pillows and so many cute patterns that I put together another.

And then another.

And another.

I hope you like pillows.

Because here are just a few. 🙂

Pillow set #1: a little blue and white

You can click on the links to shop.

Love the pattern on the darker blue mixed with the ikat pattern on the blue and white pillow layered in with the white polka dot pillow.

And the best part?

That set mixes with this set.

Pillow set #2: casual blue and white

This set is a little more casual.

It mixes checks with stripes and then layers in a little polka-dotted tasseled pillow.

All of these pillows are SUPER affordable, too.

Pillow set #3: nautical blue and white

I love the look of this set.

I found the round pom pom pillow and was trying to match it and then the blue and white pillow just fell in love with it.

All three pillows have really pretty texture, too.

Pillow set #4: pink and white and spring

If you are shopping the post—please note that the blue striped pillow comes in the pink, too.

I think this was one of my favorite combinations because each pillow has it’s own personality.

And they all look like spring.

Pillow set #5: neutral with texture

One of my newest favorite pillows is sitting on my bed right now.

The pillow on the right is actually quite a bit darker than it appears in the picture and it’s SO PRETTY.

I love layering in texture with it.

These pillows all match with the pillows below, too.

Pillow set #6: casual neutral

This set is super similar to the set above—except I added in stripes. The navy pillow listed on the shop the post also comes in khaki.

I think it just makes the pattern pop.

You could also add in any of the pom pom or white pillows I matched with the other sets.

Pillow set #6: outdoor pillows

And it wouldn’t be a pillow post without a few outdoor pillows.

I have the pillows on the left on my porch right now and they’ve held up amazingly well through winter.

Black and white is a classic outdoor combination.

I hope you’ve enjoyed pillow shopping with me.

I had SO MUCH FUN putting it all together.

If you like posts like this—just let me know and I’d be happy to work on a few more for you.

There’s nothing better than shopping with friends. 🙂

PS Here are the pillows again and a few more added in.

Love the combinations! I love pillows too- have taken to getting or making pillow covers since storage of so many pillows becomes overwhelming! Love what you have done and the links are perfect!

These are a great assortment and it is so hard to just pick a few, so i have started making my own covers and i can have so many more, because they are easier to store.

What about the blue and white crab pillows and the Seashore one, where can I find those? Love them! Thanks so much, love when you post links to where to buy the things shown on the blog.

I bought those white pillows with the little blue tufts (on your couch) for my daughter last week at Home Goods! What great combos you have going here! Thanks for sharing!

Could you tell me which size pillows you prefer when buying pillows for your sofa or bed? Which looks the best 18" or 24"" I use to buy just what I like and didn't pay much attention what size it was. Just curious what size most of you buy. Does it matter? Thanks for any information you may share.

Connie, I like 18" for the couch---16" is a little too small for the couch. 24" is pretty---but it's just a little too big for me for most situations! I love down inserts with all my pillows! Hope this helps! Happy day!karianne

So, I have a burning pillow question for you... Where and how do you store all of these pillows? I love them, too, but I don't have room to store a lot of pillows. HELP!

Most of my pillows are all pillow covers with down inserts! I just switch out the pillow covers and when I'm not using them I fold them up in a drawer! Hope this helps! karianne

Thanks for all your great ideas. Love the textured pillows for sure. Please tell Whitney and Westleigh I received my books yesterday and they are awesome. Brings a smile to my face right away. I can't wait to give them to my family.

All so cute.! Does anyone else have a three car garage with no room for cars because they filled it with storage racks and turned it into a giant closet? Not that I have done that, heh heh. Bins with pillows. Yup. Just some of the extra.

So many amazing pillows! I've been thinking of pulling some navy in the living room since I have that "new to me" navy oriental in there now, but the neutrals call to me too! I want them all. So gorgeous. Nancy

Yes Karianne this post was very helpful. Thank you. It's always nice to have people like you to search, sort and coordinate. Makes life so much easier especially if one hasn't got the patience anymore to do it..❤️

This post reminded me of a question I've had re: pillows. I like a pretty pillow as much as the next gal, but they seem awkward to me sometimes. People come over and don't know what to do with them. Do they put them on the floor, try to lean back awkwardly, rearrange them or ?? I'm not talking about a lot of pillows on my couch either. I only have three. It also seems men are more at a loss with what to do. Thanks for any input. Some pretty choices you have there btw.

KariAnne, thanks for doing the research on the pillows! I love pillows! One can never have too many! Ha! Ha! I have sewn a lot of my cushion covers and store them in a drawer. However, I always seem to find one that just has to come home with me! Have a great weekend!
