Today…..I wanted to share a little joy with you.

Just in case you needed some.

Just in case you had a hard week.

Just in case you were a little sad.

Just in case.

I wanted to share.

photo (43)

Nothing fancy.

Nothing earth shattering.

But today….when I walked down a winding country lane and listening to the crickets chirping and the wind blowing softly across the grass….I stopped.

I stopped for just an instant to take it all in….and I as I stood in the middle of the pasture and smelled the smell of hay and summer and life…..I spun and spun and spun around and around and around….until my heart was so full of joy at that exact moment that it was about to burst.

Joy that I discovered that I really like to eat ice.

Joy that I lost one pound.

Joy that my sweet husband grinned at me when I found Chex Mix for a dollar at Kroger today.

Joy that the dog had a bath.

Joy that I discovered chocolate glazed doughnut coffee has zero calories.

Simple.  Sweet.  Wonderful.  Joy.

photo (44)

And I was trying to think of a way to share all this joy.

So I wanted take a moment to to tell you….

…..yes….you with the coffee or the hot tea or the diet coke with the blueberry muffin.

You.  Are.  Amazing.

A rock star.

I thought you needed to know.

Just in case no one mentioned it to you today.

I wanted to be the first.

I mean….you probably already knew how amazing you are….and you probably are like….thank goodness she finally noticed and mentioned it.

You probably already figured out that you are a rock star

And from one rock star to another…..

…..I totally agree. 🙂

PS  If you get a chance today….maybe spread a little joy in your corner of the world….there’s probably someone else amazing who needs it. 🙂

PPS  All these pictures are brought to you by a summer’s walk in the country and my Instagram account.   You can follow along….here.

Happiness or joy is not determined by external circumstances, but by internal circumstances. Everyone chooses how happy they are by what they choose to think about. Your attitude is determined by your perspective, which is determined by what you think about -- your focus. You choose your focus, so ultimately, you are the one who chooses whether to be happy, or not. I know that this is your daily attitude and should be all of ours. I thank you for helping us choose to be happy today and helping us to see God's beautiful creation. We all should take a little walk today to enjoy the creation around us.

You have excellent timing, KariAnne! We had a death in the family this week; my 97-year-young grandma found joy in eternal life in heaven. Although it was sad, we found joy in memories, especially the little moments like the ones you described above. Thank you for sharing your joy - it's infectious! Inspired by you, I'm going to share some over at my blog! Have a great weekend!

Karianne, You have a beautiful and loving heart! Joy also come to me in short bursts like this, in between the work. Yesterday, on my way to work, on a back road, yearling sheep were grazing in a fenced area close to the road. I pulled over, talked to them, one came over to the fence, I gave my hand to be sniffed, I got to pet him, he/she nibbled my hand. I have long been enthralled with sheep, but this was the first I was so physically close to one. Such love of country and animals is what pulled me to you (along with loving creating a home) when I first read your blog in which you wrote about pie and goats. BTW ... my dining room is Anonymous below the chair rail, Intellectual Gray above the chair rail. It is good for the size of my dining room and it looks terrific with the colors and what I have in there. A swatch of mindful gray is on a living room wall and half of the ceiling being done in typical ceiling paint and half the walls primed is far as that is at the moment. Lastly, there are avenues of help with my son at home I have begun to explore. A sweet, peaceful and love-filled day sent to you!

Good morning! I'll pass on something that someone told me a few years ago... I loved to chew ice. My dentist hated that I did, but I just couldn't help it... I loved it. Then my sister-in-law's mother came along from MD for Christmas. She saw me chewing ice and said very matter of factly: Oh, Amy... you are anemic. Really I said? How do you know that? She said, because you're chewing ice. And it was true. I was anemic for the next 5 years because I couldn't stand taking iron - it's "slowed" me up, if you know what I mean. BUT, I finally discovered an amazing product called floravital that didn't cause constipation. Flash to now and amazingly, I have zero urge to chew ice now. Anyway, my winded point here is I would bet you are anemic. Thanks for the reminder Joy... have a beautiful day everyone! xo

Someone said they read you first. Well, I always save the best for last. And you're it. Thank you for being a vessel of JOY to others. :)

I'm crying now. Because I don't feel like a rock star. I feel like a frazzled working mom who's trying hard to hold it together...for me, for my family. I try to be that positive person to everyone else but I have so many doubts and bits of me that aren't working. So thanks for this. I needed it. P.S. I saw your instagram feed last night and thought it was funny because your photo of the straw bales was either right before or right after my photo of wheat straw bales. I just thought it was funny!!

You radiate such joy. Thank you. And now I'm going to insert a little downer here. If you "like" to eat ice, that's terrific. But if you "crave" eating ice, that could be a symptom of anemia, and you might want to check with your doctor. Just sayin'.

I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart. Down in my heart. Down in my heart today. Thank you for sharing your joy with me. I've got some for you, too.

Scary (in a good way): we are on THE SAME wave length today. I just drafted a post along the same lines. I was watering my container gardens last night and thought....WOW....all these vegetable plants and flowers that we have in the backyard are SPECTACULAR right now They are in their glory zone right now. It's the middle of the summer and the flowers of the earth are speaking to me. In a big way. Like you, I needed to SLOW DOWN. TAKE IT ALL IN. Forget all the 'crap' that happened this week and simply bask in God's glory. It was all there. Just for me. I drank it in. I drank it in deeply. We all need to slow down, don't we? Honestly. Life is so crazy. We forget to slow down. And Just. Do. Nothing. Have a wonderful (slow) weekend.

Love that "joy!" Thanks for sharing. And, what is this coffee you speak of? Because, I feel fairly certain that the Krispy Kreme donut I enjoyed last night was not zero calories. But, the hot sign was on, so we had to stop. And, it did bring joy to my car full of girls :) Life to the full! Melissa

Thanks KariAnne....... I would love to have taken that walk with you! Your words inspire and sooth all at the same time - and at the most needed time! Every morning at 6:00 am I take my three dogs for a walk on our property and find something new every day! Its probably been there a thousand years but new to me and only because I glanced in a direction I hadn't before or missed a new flower because I blinked. And how did you know I have my coffee with me while walking? :) Have a beautiful day! Lois

You are so cute. Thanks for the joy.. and I guess you got the anemic thing.. My mom was a big ice cruncher. She would stand by the heater and eat ice. And she was anemic for years!

As soon as I saw the word, "JOY," I started smiling, because when I think of you, that's what I feel! I got good news about a friend today - he had been diagnosed with ALS - but a second, and much more informed opinion, changed the diagnosis to one that is NOT a death sentence! I AM PRAISING GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW TODAY! Have a totally blessed day, Karianne!!

I was on google, trying to find directions on "how to find the right paint color" and it lead me here. I read the paint article (thank you!) and then clicked around some to read more about you. This post is so uplifting. I'm not even going thru anything difficult in my life right now, but I feel truly cared about ... from someone I haven't ever met or heard of or knew existed, no less! The pictures are calm and capture one of God's many beauties. This whole post made me smile. I'm excited to read more from you. Keep having a joyous day and weekend!

Ahhhh ... I, too, felt joy while sitting on my back deck during the last couple of days while the pasture was mowed, raked, and baled. I wish everyone could share in that smell and those sights!

I had a bad day at work this morning, in fact, the whole office has had a tough day today. This was a great respite from all that stuff. I just wish I were standing in the middle of one of those fields listening and smelling and feeling and rejoicing... Thank you for sharing this with us. Gonna go get a treat of some sort for the office to end the day better than it began. Thanks again, Jill

Thanks Karianne, we all need to find joy in all the little things that make up our days. Sometimes it takes a gentle reminder from an awesome friend like you!! I'd like to say that I found joy this morning in not knowing if I lost a pound or gained a pound because my scale just stopped working!!! LOL!! Thank you for being one of those little joys in my day---you are awesome!!! Kim :)
