Looking for an easy (and free) to get the bathroom ready for guests? These toilet paper flowers are perfect. Here’s the how-to.

I spent the weekend getting the house ready for a party.

Yep.

I’m having a Mahjong party tonight.

I’ve invited a bunch of friends over and we have a teacher who is going to help us learn how to play the game. I’ve never played Mahjong before and it’s been on my bucket list to learn. Mahjong and Bridge. Except I heard Bridge is super hard, so I’m starting with Mahjong.

The house is ready and all decked out for fall and I just added the BEST new towels to the bathroom.

And just when I thought the bathroom was cute enough?

I remembered something I saw years ago that makes the bathroom even cuter for guests.

You can create it in two minutes and it makes the guest bathroom look SO FANCY.

And the best part?

It’s FREE.

My bathroom looks extra high-end now because I added this.

Can you see it?

It’s kind of peeking out from the corner.

Oh wait.

Let me open the door first.

Here’s the entire bathroom.

I just added a little fall decor here and there.

Like this wreath I tied onto the bathroom door and this vase full of fall flowers and these pumpkins.

And then?

I went all fancy.

Can you see it?

Can you spot it?

Have you figured out what it is?

(total aside: I just realized this post was so timely for the holidays. Nothing says Merry Christmas to your guests like a fancy bathroom).

Here it is.

A toilet paper flower.

Years ago I stayed at a house where this greeted me when I came into the bathroom. I couldn’t believe it. I took it apart in the bathroom and figured out how it was created and promised myself I would decorate all my toilet paper rolls from now on.

Is it wrong to say that I fell in love with a toilet paper flower?

It was such a simple idea so make a space even more welcoming for guests.

Here’s how to make a toilet paper flower.

How to Make a Toilet Paper Flower

1. Rip off six squares of toilet paper

If your toilet paper comes in squares, rip off six sheets along the perforated lines.

They will look just like this.

Each of the squares will be a petal on the flower.

2. Fold the squares

Take each of the squares and fold it in thirds.

Fold one edge of the square over.

Then fold the second corner over as shown.

Repeat with the remaining five squares.

3. Overlap the folded squares

Now it’s time to create your flower.

Place the folded petals on top of each other. Start with the bottom two in an X. Then the next two in another X. Then the final two in another X.

Create a stack like this.

4. Bond the petals together

Here’s the brilliant part.

The step that will make you go, WOW.

Turn on your faucet and let water run for a second. Then turn it off and you will still have drips of water coming out.

Press the group of petals together against the rim of the faucet.

5. Let the flower dry

When you remove the flower from the faucet, it will look like this.

It’s damp at first, but when it dries it will be stiff in the center.

And now you have the perfect toilet paper flower.

This is what it looks like when it dries.

I usually fold the end of the roll of the toilet paper and put the damp flower on the end of the roll.

It will dry to the toilet paper and hold it in place.

And now?

Here’s a quick tour of add the fall I added to the bathroom.

This is all fall decor that I repurposed from last year.

But I did add one new thing to get the bathroom ready for the holidays.

// the best towels //

I got new towels.

This is the third time I’ve ordered these towels—once for the twins and now twice for me.

They are so absorbent and fluffy and feel like hotel towels.

I love them.

You can see my favorite towels here that come in a set of four.

Just one more look at that toilet paper flower.

Here’s what it looks like in the bathroom.

And here’s what it looks like up close.

Isn’t it the cutest idea to add something special to your guest bath?

Your guests will be talking about it for parties to come.

I can’t wait to hear the conversation tonight.

Mah Jong and toilet paper flowers.

Sounds like a party to me. 🙂

PS You can pin it to save it for your next party (or holiday get-together).

Wish I could come! I could help to teach you and your friends -it is so much fun! My mom and her girlfriends learned how to play when I was a teenager. They have played ever since once a week. 40+ years! We daughters were occasionally invited to come play with the moms -always a special occasion...

My sister loves bumblebees. I love rubber stamps. I took one of my bee stamps to her house, folded the toilet paper into a point, wet my stamp and embossed her toilet paper with a big fat bee. She was giddy! It was like the Royal crest seal for her bathroom. Too fun! Your flower is going to send her over the edge 😉

KariAnne! We must be sisters from another Mother! 🩵 I get all excited when I see the TP creations! I have company coming next week & I certainly doing this flower! It’s brilliant with the facet trick!!! I have to share this.. I once noticed my company sneaking in their own TP??? Turns out they thought mine was too harsh? ( that’s when I used Scott- so my kids wouldn’t use so much😉) So next time they came to visit- I wrapped the TP roll in steel wool ~ because it’s funny!! 😂

So my only question is, as cute as this idea is with the toilet paper, I would imagine some guests might be a bit puzzled as to what they are supposed to do with the flower! Do they wipe with it remove it so they can get us some toilet paper to use and then put the flower back? Just some practical questions but a fun idea nonetheless ask.

I do the folded point in my guest bath. Think I'll try a flower just to see what my husband says when he sees it in our bath. This looks fun.
