Did you know that you are a rock star?
Truly.
Yes….you….the one with the coffee mug.
Or the hot tea.
Or the breakfast cereal bowl.
I’m talking to you.
You probably hear that all the time.
But today…..I wanted to be the first to tell you.
You see….I know.
I know that….that I know….that I know.
There is something that you can do that is off-the-charts.
Something amazing.
Something incredible.
And I know that you don’t want to brag and that you probably don’t even realize how special you truly are……so I just wanted to remind you.
Because that’s what friends of rock stars do.
Maybe you can cook the best sweet potato casserole or paint a room in a day or grow a vegetable garden that would make P. Allen Smith sit up and take notice or find the perfect piece of brown toile dinnerware at a yard sale for only .50 or play the banjo with your toes.
Or maybe you are the best listener.
Or the best friend any one could ever have.
Actually…..I’m a little in awe of you.
Yes….you….the baker…the shopper….the gardener….the listener…..and the incredible friend.
I’m in awe of your amazing listening skills and your humor and your intelligence and your ability to greet each day with a smile.
And I am blessed.
Today.
Because today you are here.
And for just a moment….in the middle of this harried and hectic life that we are all so busy living…..I got to spend a little time with a rock star….
….just like you. 🙂
PS This post is dedicated my very own teenage rock star and his overwhelming, intimidating, mind boggling,…..but going-to-be-off-the-charts-amazing school speech today.
PPS And just in case you were wondering….it’s been snowing here. 🙂
Thank you for the inspiring email this morning.............I think you are a "rock star" too!

Trying to think of what my special talent is but you provided lots of inspiration and encouragement to make myself a rock start today. Thanks for the very uplifiting thoughts.
WE are blessed, because YOU are here, and you make each one of us feel like you ONLY call US "rock star." Truly. I thought you wrote this post just for ME. I'm actually going on a worldwide tour tomorrow - my private jet picks me up at noon! Kelly
Morning. **rubbing eyes and sipping coffee** Thanks!!! Right back atcha Rock Star. What pretty white winter wonderland pictures KariAnne. But you are making me giggle at my white frosted outdoors. Old man winter decided to return to north Central Florida this weekend. It's 28*F (yes, in Florida) and outside is so pretty and dusted in white frost. As close as we get to a white world :-) I am sipping my coffee and feeling special... Thanks again. Hugs, Gee
As I sit here with my bowl of cereal (and poodle snuggled up next to me) my day is off to a great start thanks to your beautifully written and inspiring post! You are a Rock Star KariAnne! I love your blog and look forward to reading it each morning : ) Have a wonderful day!
Sweet post KariAnne. We need to remind ourselves every day not to compare ourselves to anyone else because we are all special and unique and talented. Wherever we are in our individual journeys is the perfect place and perfect time for right now. Happy Monday xox
I remember now what makes me a rock star. I have decided when asked what I do that I am a "Fitness and Adventure Planner". That pretty much describes my lifestyle and I think I'm pretty good at it.
Always the first blog of the day, always the best. Please tell your teen to "break a leg". Rock on.
I love you Mom :)
SO VERY AWESOME!!!!!
And so are you, my-although-I've-never-met-you-I-feel-like-we-are-bff's friend! I needed to hear that:) P.S. How did you know I have my morning coffee with you? :) Hope the speech goes well!
Thanks for the encouragement today, Karianne! I have a busy, busy day ahead and needed the encouragement! Right back at you and to your speech-giver. Love the pick of the concrete? fence.
Hi Karinanne, Good morning! It is such a pleasure to wake up to such an inspiring message from you. You rock, Girl! For all the people like me who find our way into your home each day, thank you. You have a wonderful way of lifting us up, bringing out the best in all of us. So thanks, and from all of us, good luck to your oldest with his speech.
"Sniff" You truly made my day. Thanks a bunch!
Very inspiring and it made me smile :) Thank you for the Monday pep talk! Can't wait to hear how the speech goes- good luck!
Thank you, fellow Rock Star!
What a wonderful way to wake up! Thanks a million, Rock Star! You probably don't know the full effect you have on your readers either! Sounds like your rock star son is going to give a fantastic speech...congrats to him! Enjoy your wonderful day....I'm going to peel myself off of this pedestal now...as nonchalantly as I can. I love the word nonchalantly! ;)
Made my day!!
How funny to open up your blog and read your post which I'm pretty sure you wrote just for me...right!? The timing couldn't be any better. Yup, it's all I needed to get my day started off to an amazing day! Your son is one lucky kid to have a Rock Star mom...you're the best. Have a Rockin' day and I bet your son knocks his speech out of the park!
Aw! :) Can you let us know how the speech goes? I am sure he does a great job! Have a wonderful day my friend!
Now I want to learn to play the banjo. Maybe not with my toes, but I think it would be awesome to do a little pick'n and grinnin' . And thanks for the cheers. I went for a walk, outside, at 6:30 am in 28 degree weather today. Mostly because the sun just looked so pretty against the trees and I wanted to be out in it. I hope you kid kills it with his speech today! And I am jealous of your snow. We've gotten hardly any this year and my kids are sad. But there's still hope. It's still cold here, no matter what the Groundhog said.
I think you are the Rock Star! Hope your son's speech goes well today.
What a wonderful way to start my day! Thank you for the smile! :) Good luck to your teen! With an encouraging mom like you, he'll absolutely rock it! Your snow looks so peaceful! It's going to be 85 here today!!! Have an awesome day!
What a sweet post. :-) Best wishes to your navigationally correct rock star of a son! Wow 'em with your speech!
You let the secret out! Now I will have to beat the Paparazzi off with a stick, or maybe that is just my children wining....Beautiful pictures, and what a beautiful way to start my Monday. Even if my rockstars are all Divas in this house. Good luck to your son!
Miss and love you my encouraging friend. Love the wide shots of your promised land! Thinking of you often and sending loving wishes your way. I think you are a rock star! A glamorous one at that! Your light shines bright my friend. Shine on! BARB
Good Morning Karianne (rock star), Pretty photos of the snow at your house but I'm so tired of snow. Today the sun it shinning and I'm so happy and trying not to think about the snow they are saying is coming our way again on Wednesday. I want spring, I want spring, I want spring! Good luck to your Super Rock-Star speech-maker. Joyous Wishes, Linda
Karianne...thanks for starting my day with Rock Star Status. Today is my due date for my 5th child, and I'm hoping to rock out a little one here soon!!! Did I catch in these comments that you have a son named Denton, because if so, we share something in common besides our rock star status :-).
simply said and lovely. thank you.
My hair brush and I used to enjoy a good concert when I was younger! And then I married a musician and now I use a real mic! Today I'm looking less David Cassidy, though. *happy to say I'll be carrying your son and his speech in my heart today! Every day we can put a little ROCKSTAR into our world! Thank you for doing that for us and for him! LOVE YOU and your WORDS!
I totally looked down at my coffee and thought, "She must be talking to me!" Thanks for the pep talk :) --Elena P.S. *you* are a rock star photographer--such pretty pictures!!
Now that is the most wonderful way to start the day! What an incredible Mom you are! The pictures are outstanding But the words are more outstanding ! Thank you for getting my day off to a rock star day! Smiles, Alice
Great post it made me feel very happy on this windy Monday morning. By the way, fantastic pictures. I wish they were of flowers and plenty of sunshine though. I need the spring to get here!! Cynthia
tearing up at his comment!!!! how truly special to see that from your son! and your house...that photo could definitely be next years Christmas card!
Rock Star-of-All-Rock-Stars, Snow?! Doesn't Mother Nature know it's March? At least your house looks gorgeous with that little sprinkling!
thanks! the best i think is the comment from your son. i have tears in my eyes. yes, rockstars do cry!
Just the message I needed this morning! Thank you and right back at ya! B
What an affirmation for us Monday-weary warriors! Thanks so much for the positive words. Also, made a burlap flower this weekend for a small grapevine wreath that was hanging on the louvered door between my kitchen and living room. Turned out great and looks so much better than the nekkid wreath did. Thanks for that tutorial.
:) KariAnne, your post this morning was beautiful! I have to admit... I consider you one of my blog BFF's. Wishing you a wonderful week and I hope your son's speech goes flawless!
What a wonderful way to start the day! You totally rock though, my friend! Your home is gorgeous and the snow is the icing on the cake! Your photos are lovely! We had a light dusting in central Georgia, but it melted quickly. Enjoy your day!
This is perfect KariAnne. I really needed this today!
Rock Star or not I LOVE these snow pictures--they inspire me here at my desk with my mug in hand :-)
I thought you only called me rock star? Just kidding, your house looks gorgeous in the snow! On a side note. Go to Safeway today pls. Get their Lucerne Mexican cinnamon chocolate coffee creamer. For real, you will be emailing me to thank me. :) Melaine {the original rock star, and your BFF}
Thanks, Sis...I needed that on a Monday morning. And, by the way, it's Diet Coke with Lime for me in the morning! XOXO
You always bring me a smile! Even the fact that I'm out of Earl Grey tea k-cups can't dampen my enthusiasm, now! :) Wasn't it a beautiful snow, while it lasted! My own teenage rock star is competing with a friend in the talent competition of the FBLA Regionals today. Fingers crossed that their rendition of "All 'Er Nothin'" from "Oklahoma!" will be the entertaining choice!!!!! Have a great day, you rock star, you!
Sweet Post! Thanks! Your blog, your house and you are wonderful. I look forward to your posts every day. The pics on this post are stunning. You are blessed to live in such beautiful surroundings.
I'm so happy I have off work today and I was able to start my day by reading your inspiring post. I can't say it enough how much I enjoy your blog and how lucky I fell to have stumbled across it. I don't even know you but if I did I have a feeling we would be friends. I love the pictures of your house and the snow. I was wondering where your purchased your mailbox? I live in a neighborhood that has an HOA and if we need to replace our mailbox it has to be similar to our existing one. Yours is very similar to ours. The HOA has picked one that is over the top expensive and I'm searching for a more reasonable one. Good luck to your son today.
Thank you so much that MADE my day.... from one rock star to another... you da best!
Just have to tell you how much I look forward to your blog! I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Have just finished up with surgery & treatments. You blog always allows me a few moments to escape..... Keep up the good work!
Haha! It takes one to know one!! LOL! You my friend are the starriest one of all! Thank you for being your joyful encouraging self. Your words were like a warm hug today. And your photos....well...there's snow! How does the world not look gorgeous...lovingly covered with a blanket of white! Hugs to you KariAnne!! P.S. Your son = so blessed to have you for a mom and I bet dad is amazing too!
Well thank you for making my day, your rock my world, have a fabulous day...Love the pics gorgeous.. You rock Miss KariAnne
Hi Karianne. This post made me want to reach out and confess something. Months ago you visited my blog and encouraged me to get on to Hometalk. You were so sweet when I told you I had tried and somehow messed up. You said the nicest things about my skills. Anyway, to make a long story short, I finally did it, I went and posted and ta da!!! I don't know why the heck I had so much trouble all those months ago, but anyway I just had to thank you for being such a positive person. Way back when...it stayed with me. And good luck to your speech giver, I'm sure he'll rock if he's like Mama. :) Leslie (Gwen Moss)
And that's why we love you and keep coming back for more!!! Congrats on the east coast creative contest, I'll be cheering you from the sidelines! (Although you should have been one if the 'stars'!) Xo, Christy
Because I was and am terrified of giving speeches, when my sons had to give speeches at school, I was the one sick to my stomach, not them. Apparently they have their father's (a radio announcer) gene for this, thank goodness.
Please send my encouragement to your Rock Star Speech Giver! :)
What an inspiring post! You ROCK!!
What a truly selfless, sweet blog you created today :) might be the nicest thing some people hear all week!
Well thank you Karianne! I kinda like you, too!
Just checked my mail. Thanks, you made me cry. I so needed this today. Actually, my youngest son is 36. I always used the Rock Star on him. Now I have a little grandson. He is " The Amazing Hero". We all forget how special we are at times.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!! It is 2 P, and I have had the WORST morning, actually 2 days but THIS has cheered me up and made me appreciate more what I have. I hope I have something to give. I try to be a GOOD friend. If that makes me a rock star, GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to feel good right now. So thanks, again, for being the rock star that YOU are. I am sure your teenaged rock star ROCKED IT!!!!!!!!!!! XOXO, Pinky
Awesome post! Thank you for sharing ~ I really needed to read this today. I know your "rock star" son will ace his speech. The photos are beautiful too! Pat
Such a gorgeous house you have. Wish it was mine!
Kari you are just the best at cheering people on! And the best blog writer. And the best photographer. And... YOU ARE A ROCK STAR TOO!!!!
I was eating my oatmeal as I read this (how did u know)? You are a blessing for all the kind, encouraging words you share so selflessly with others. I know that God will bring back to you more than double all the joy you bring us. The world would be a much better place if there were more people in it like you. I saw the post addressed to "Mom" and it made me tear up. Your children are so very lucky! xoxo
I'm sitting here with my chai tea and reading this wonderful post. Thanks, Karianne!
I used to teach a speech class called " Front and Center" to middle schoolers. Oooh, tough subject to many who struggle with adolescence. But, every time a student accomplished an appearance in front of peers, I saw growth and increase in confidence. So important for kids to experience. Way to go rock star!
Thank you Kari...wonderful words that totally 'rocked' my world. You did real good!!!
Your "Rock Star" title made me smile, since I read those same words from you in an email the other day. And I thank you dearly. I am sure your son will do his very best in reciting his speech today and that is what counts when one does his/her very best. I do miss those middle school students' speeches.
Congrats to your son. It is hard to toot our own horn sometimes, isn't it? We see the best in everyone else and all our own flaws. Thanks for the reminder that we are a "rock star" in our own right, after all. GREAT post- xo Diana
What a lovely post. Thank you for the photos and inspiration.
How about the one with a glass of wine..It's been a long day..Just getting to my computer duties...
Thank you. As I sit here at 7pm, house still a mess from my attempts at cleaning, todays dishes in the sink, tomorrows dinner waiting to be made (pot of soup that needs to cook for hours) and the hubby and daughter barely out the door to sell Girl Scout cookie, you made me feel appreciated. That doesn't happen much to us housewives. May I return the gift? I love your blog! You inspire me todo better and more beautiful things.
you know it's been a hard weekend when you read a post like this and start to cry. thanks for speaking love into our hearts and lives. thanks for calling out the obvious...that we are all rockstars at something. you're a gem of a woman, friend. you're one of those special kind of bloggers....hope you know that He has given you a spectacular platform, and you're doing rockstar job at it.
Well thank you. I am a rock star. I saw your address in County Living. Wow what a surprize when I read your blog on this first day. Yes I am a rock star. I am now a subscriber.
You're so encouraging! Loved this! And your pictures are breathtaking!
I love your posts ... you have a gift, Miss Thistlewood Farms.
Thanks for that! We all need to know we're a rock star and you made us all feel that way. Your photo's are beautiful.
Kudos for you, KariAnne. This special post had to mean so much to your own resident rock star. I know how much you treasure your four, and you are such a good parent to let the light shine in their lives. Thank you for sharing your joy, and for sharing that light with all of us.♥
YOU are a rock star! Thank you for always putting a smile on a face, making me laugh and always inspiring ME! P.S. It's snowing here today too! xx Anne

I thought I had kept that a secret... Thanks for making me smile and starting the day off on such a great note. Hope your son rocked his speech today :)
Takes one to know one ;)
Great post. It has a very soft Mr Rogers approach of appreciating those who can and do. Thanks KariAnn. Love you and stay dry and warm.
Very cute post! And I can relate to the snow...ugh. I want Spring and flowers and gardening and digging in the dirt!
Awwww thanks Kari Ann! I think you are the rock star for making us feel special! You always have such great posts! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Traci
Thank you, I just finished reading your post and felt very special. I know I am appreciated, but sometimes we just need to hear it. Even if it is from someone I've never met. You made me feel loved :-)
Thanks Kari Anne! I think you might have the gift of encouragement! I feel very encouraged right now. Lovely post, lovely photos. Peace, Linda
