State of the Christmas update.
I did it.
Almost.
Back when Hark the Herald Angels thing wasn’t really a thing yet, I made Christmas resolutions and almost stuck to most of them. Which is really, really good for me. Most of the time I forget I even made a resolution.
I ordered gifts online. Check.
I wrapped as I went. Check.
I planned five last-minute parties when I said I was only going to plan one. Almost check.
I listened to Christmas music every day. Check. (although just between us….if I hear Baby It’s Cold Outside one more time my hair is going to curl all on its own)
But most importantly? I paused. I slowed down every now and then. I laughed really hard. I looked at more Christmas lights. I drank more hot chocolate. I added mini-marshmallows whenever I could. I sang more carols.
And I tried to spread a little joy wherever I went and remember the reason for the season.
Because that’s what Christmas is truly about. 🙂
And now….if you are wrapping gifts today…..here’s some super-easy, last-minute gift tag ideas just for you.
Cookie Gift Tag
Recycled Christmas Card Gift Tags
Clip-on Chalkboard Gift Tags
And I leave you with this easy idea sent in by a reader.
I made this merry banner here.
But wouldn’t it make the perfect monogram tag for presents?
Just cut out a letter from a card with their initial.
Merry Christmas gift wrapping from our house to yours.
GREAT IDEAS!!! I will tuck them away for next yesr since your advice I followed motivated me to keep it simple and I'm done wrapping. Thank you for reminding us to enjoy the season. Yesterday I did my grocery shopping. Typically I would chase with the crowds today but really is the asparagus going to suffer in my refrig if bought 24 hours earlier. I don't think so. AND...in an hour I leave with my future daughter in law and her bridal party to pick out and order. bridesmaids dresses and then to have lunch. Never in a million years coukd I have pulled this off the day before Christmas Eve and entertaining. So happy I paused and enjoyed this wonderful time of the year. Merry Christmas!!!!!!
How wonderful. Have the best day ever.
Cute ideas...but I'll have to save them for next year. I'm.not.going.out.there.again...to.the.stores! LOL! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family! ;)
Have a very Merry Christmas!! ps. I can't wait to see what you and your siblings made for each other this year!
I am wrapping today, if you can believe it. Thanks for the inspiration. It helped me remember that I have small chalkboards that are supposed to be used as plant markers. Whoop! Fun idea, thanks again. Have a Merry Christmas!!
i'm so prouda you....great job. even if you did have that one more party...it was so worth it. and you definitely made everyone's christmas season a LOT merrier and a great deal merrier. and yeah...baby it's cold outside makes me groan inside...but the worst? santa baby. i have to leave the room. if i'm listening to pandora, i can't hit the skip or the thumbs down button fast enough. that song is a travesty against christmas and paints good old saint nick as kind of a lech...if you know what i mean. hate that song. with a passion. happy christmas my friend...wrap yourself in the warm of love and sweet memories this precious season. all that's left now is the unwrapping, the twinkles, the smiles, the sighs and the greatest joy of the entire year.
All wrapped and gift-tagged here!! Merry Christmas to our angel!! : )
If spreading a little cheer wherever you go is the true meaning of Christmas, then truly it is Christmas day every day! Thanks for shining your light!
Awwwww Darn!! I love your wrapping ideas but I wrapped my last gift this morning. So I am saving and pinning and sharing your awesome ideas. I've been doing a lot of Fa La La -- ing but not Baby It's Cold Outsiding -- Hubby says he thinks it's a dirty old man singing the song. Poor young girl wants to go home and he is "heh heh hehing" and trying to ply her with drink. Shame on him!!! I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!! Big Hugs!!
MerryChristmas to you and your family! Sheila
Those cute cookie tags would not last around my house...the dogs would sniff them out and eat them right off the gifts, lol. Today I have one last gift to get then I'll be home watching the Poinsettia Bowl (my beloved Boise State Broncos) and baking chocolate chip cookies. Merry Christmas Karianne!
Love the gift tag ideas. My granddaughter and I are making gift tags this afternoon. Presents are wrapped waiting for tags! The tags may not be perfect but will be make with laughter and love. I got the idea from the Merry banner. No hot chocolate needed here--supposed to be in the 70s today but we can pretend. Merry Christmas, Nancy
Merry Christmas, KariAnne! I'm with you on the song...I've started thumbing it down on Pandora when it plays. I kept most of my Christmas resolutions too. Doing one tonight - going to San Antonio to eat supper on the River Walk then driving back up through the hill country to see Christmas lights. With friends. :-) Then it's the mad dash tomorrow to get the house ready for guests. Oh! I want to go to a Christmas Eve service somewhere too. So, some last minute things to do before the big day!
You are a treasure....cannot begin to tell you how many times you have brightened my day and made me giggle. Oh how I wish you were my next door neighbor and we could be friends. Thank you for just being yourself.....it means so much. Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family. Jill
Cute tags! I'm happy your Christmas season has been what you planned (almost). I'm in the thick of wrapping and I hate to say it...I've resorted to the peel and stick tags. It's crunch time. Next year I will so be on top of my game. Of course, I say that every year. Merry Christmas karianne! I hope Santa is good to you.
I could of used some of these earlier when I kept looking around for a tag. I did use a Christmas card cut up, but not as cute as your's. I still love the Merry cut out of Christmas cards - that was pure genius - go ahead and do the genius dance, you earned it. Merry Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY KARI!!!....Have a most joyous one making beautiful memories!!! P.S. Love the tags!
Girl, I love these gift tag ideas, but I have to say, I am going to be a wrapping fool tomorrow! I worked today and we had a bunch of neighbors over tonight, so that's about all that will be done today. I'm going to have to throw all the gifts in my room and bar the children from coming in so I (Santa) can wrap. Looking forward to Christmas day! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas KariAnne! Your writing always brings a smile. Thank you for all of your creative inspiration and encouragement this year! I hope you and your family have a very blessed Christmas! Xo, ~julie
