I’m so excited you are here for the Christmas lights tour hosted by my friend Rachel from Maison De Pax.

She’s invited dozens of bloggers to show off their Christmas lights at home after the sun goes down.

If you are visiting from Rooms for Rent, it’s nice to meet you.

I thought I’d start the tour with a little before.

Here’s the farmhouse in the snow.

During the day.

And now?

Here’s the farmhouse at night.

There’s a tree in every room.

It’s Christmas shining against the dark of the night.

Here’s the view you see when you drive up the driveway.

I wish you could see the stars twinkling in the night sky overhead.

Or listen to the sounds of the country at night.

This is the dining room just as the sun was setting the other day.

It takes on a sparkle that would make you smile.

Twinkles dance across the room.

The other day everyone left to go Christmas shopping.

The house was quiet.

The house was calm.

I wrapped presents and watched the twinkles and turned up the Christmas music.

I’d walk from room to room gathering up ribbons and tags and searching for tape.

And I noticed each room had it’s own sparkle.

The family room twinkled with neutrals.

The front living room?

It’s red and green with sleighs full of ornaments.

The twinkles are softer in here.

The back porch?

It’s white and bright and you can see the trees through the french doors.

You can see the porch trees from the road.

In the quiet with the Christmas music playing in the background, I finished wrapping the last present and tucked it under the tree.

Outside I heard the crunch of gravel and I knew everyone was home.

Soon the quiet would be gone.

The front door would open and laughter and joy and stories of shopping and Christmas would fill the air.

There would be whispers and hot chocolate moustaches and scraps of paper and sprinkles would cover the tables in every room.

Soon the rooms would sparkle with a different kind of light.

My heart was so happy.

I love you family.

I love you Christmas.

I love you farmhouse.

Twinkle on my friend, twinkle on. 🙂

And now for the next stop on the tour, be sure to say hello to my friend Abby.

You can see her house here.

And now….drum roll please….here’s the rest of the tour:

The photos of the farmhouse are beautiful, just absolutely beautiful! My son and daughter-in-law have a very tall Christmas tree in the large foyer next to the stairs and one small tree in different rooms for each child to decorate themselves. Whoever decided more than one Christmas tree is OK is OK by me ;-)
