What is it with all the random things that keep showing up on this blog?

Random things that used to be outside and then showed up inside because they were (a) free and (b) didn’t cost anything and (c) no charge and (d) priced right.

Seriously.

It’s like enough already.

First there was the stable door  from an abandoned barn that arrived in the family room and turned into the back drop for a fall mantel.

Understandable.

It’s hard to pass up a free stable door.

Then there was a window.

A window left and abandoned by the side of the road.

The window that morphed into the most wonderful wall chalkboard calendar.

And now we have the rusty garden gate.

Perfect future project for the farmhouse.

Do you see what I mean?

Do you notice a pattern?

Are you so over it?

Please tell me you aren’t.

Because I think this is going to be my favorite outside-turned-inside-turned-fall-decorating-turned-junk-that-was-going-to-be-thrown-away-turned-amazing.

And I can’t wait for you to see it.

When I’m finished.

In October 🙂

I did get started on the project, though….just the other day.

Can you see the difference?

Scroll back up to see the before.

So subtle….but so wonderful.

I love the rust….but I had to knock it down a little.

And I did it with the help of this:

Krylon Rust Protector Spray Paint

Okay….total aside here….is that not the prettiest picture of a can of spray paint you have ever seen?  Seriously.  The bricks in the background.   The leaves softly falling from the sky…..floating and landing…..just so….on the hay bale where the spray paint just happens to be.  All that can needs now is a Badgley Mishka evening dress, Jimmy Choos and a Judith Leiber clutch to be ready for the spray paint red carpet.

But the best thing about Krylon Rust Protector Spray Paint is not just that is looks incredible wearing a designer dress and Jimmy Choos…….

……it’s that it completely transformed my garden gate.

And I’m just getting started 🙂

Now…..how about you?

Do you have a great spray paint project?  Want to show it off?

This is your projects’ time to shine.

And I can’t wait to see what you link up.

I've already fallen in love with spray paint, but I love any excuse to use it again! Just the other day I used Krylon Glossy Black, which is both very glossy and very black. LOVE! P.S. I can't wait to see what you do with that gate. :)

That gate is just too cool. Do I see "Sears" on it. How cool is that? I know whatever you do will be even better than if it was wearing Jimmy Choo shoes. It will be wearing Karianne style. Can't wait to see you soon. xxoo

OH shoot, shoot, shoot! I want to join this party so bad because I am spraying up a storm right now. We're having a party don't you know right here on the farmette and it features skeletons of all things. So those spray cans of paint are coming in might handy right now. Why I even sprayed the corn stalks 'cause brown is not my thing. But it won't be ready until the end of October. Maybe....just maybe I can do a sneak peek thing......maybe. :)

Your mantel is gorgeous Kari...and the gate?.........well I will be coming to the party wearing my Manolo B's and Vera Wang gown...and my diamonds and I shall feel as though I am staring at the magnificent gate through the window of Tiffany's eating my breakfast!

Krylon's Red Carpet look this year is a vision of loveliness in white, grey, and red. Accents of dark bricks and leaves of dappled sunlight complete Krylon'sstunning appearance. "Just perfection, and not a drip in sight" says Joan Rivers.

I adore spray paint! It's what I use to transform ugly brass or wooden lamps into gorgeous usable art! And, no, I am not OVER you finding great trash and transforming it. Just wish I could find some...free...just laying around. The junk I find always has price tags attached. Now, THAT I'm over!

You are SO giving me the courage to tackle my porch railing! Beautiful!! I grew up in a house with a garden gate like that, and have always wanted one for my house!

I totally LOVE spray paint. I just did halloween decorations. I have also been painting my 11/12yr old patio set that was looking rather dated in it's faded hunter green paint. I've painted it a nice Oil Rubbed Bronze. Wish I had used Krylon. I guess I will have to get some, find a project and figure out how to do the link thingy. It's a beautiful gate btw.

Looking forward to seeing this project.. I have one of those gates hanging on the back porch fireplace. I left it rusty. I can't wait to see what you are doing with your gate, Karianne. I love your barn door fireplace goodness!

I can't begin to imagine the number of cans of spray paint that have passed through my life. You pay for them, you shake them, you empty them and then you toss them aside. I must say that each and every one have marked my life and I am a changed woman because of them.
