Remember when I mentioned we were pulling up the carpet in the bedroom?

In amazing news?

We’re finished.

The room is ready for Christmas inspired by this Fresh Cut Fraiser candle from Better Homes and Gardens.

You know when that first snowflake tumbles through the air, followed by snowflake after snowflake floating to the ground, covering everything with a blanket of white? Everything is snowy. Everything is fresh. Everything is crisp and clean and pristine against the blue sky and you know that you know that you know….

….that Christmas is just around the corner?

That’s exactly what this candle smells like.

All the Christmases before and all the Christmases to come.

The bedroom? Just like the candle inspiration, it’s decorated with a lot of white with a little blue topped with a little whiff of Christmas.

I can’t WAIT to show you the before and after. Are you ready? Are you sitting down? Do you need to grab a beverage?

Okay.

Let’s GO.

Here’s the before.

The really before before from when we first bought back the house. The room had gold walls painted SW Blonde (I know because I helped my mother paint them) and a grayish carpet and a random fireplace in the middle of where the bed should be.

We painted the walls gray.

And added some furniture.

And moved the fireplace here.

And it was fine.

Sufficient.

But why settle?

When your room could look like this?

CAN YOU EVEN?

Seriously.

Please go look at that before.

Did you ever think an after like this could show up?

Here’s another before from another angle.

And now?

Same angle.

COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROOM.

And it all started with the floor.

I’m going to do an entirely different post on how we changed it up because it would make this post entirely too long and we all have Christmas shopping and Thanksgiving baking to get to.

So I’ll Reader’s Digest how we changed up the room.

We pulled up the carpet and after a zillion steps we painted it SW Stamped Concrete.

We painted the room SW Extra White and added new moldings and new floor moldings.

And then?

It was time to decorate.

We added new bedding and new white curtains to the windows.

I love these new curtain rods from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart.

You can see them here.

They extend from 48″ to 84″ and are super affordable which was perfect because I have four windows in this room.

quick tip: hang your curtain rods 6-8″ outside your windows to make the windows appear bigger.

For extra seating, I added these blue tufted floor cushions from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart.

You can see them here.

They come in 7 different colors and look really high end.

They’re the perfect addition for extra holiday seating.

I added this farmhouse lamp from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart.

You can find in it the store and here are dozens of other lamp options, too.

I bought the shade separately here.

I added this farmhouse clock (for under $25).

And I also found these baskets, too.

I tucked a present in one at the foot of the bed.

The other larger basket (which is SUCH a good value for the price) is tucked underneath with a throw.

You can find them in the store, but I also found this basket that I love, too and this one.

And when we were finished and the room was decorated, I lit this Better Homes and Gardens candle.

Nothing says Christmas than the smell of Cut Fraiser.

Then I snuggled in and sat around all day and ate Christmas cookies and watched Hallmark movies.

Ummmm.

I wish.

There’s no time for any of that.

I have a turkey to cook. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving.

It’s perfectly gorgeous! But I had to laugh at the thought of throw pillows on the floor in my bedroom...getting up from them might be a challenge!!😂 Happy Thanksgiving, friend!! Enjoy all of those feet under your table.

Out of the park, as usual. And, speaking of lampshades, could you possibly give us a tutorial on how to figure out the proper size lampshade without dragging your lamp through the store and trying them on like hats.

Looking forward to when you have more time for details. I'm trying to figure out if you have hardwood floors that you painted or if you took it down to the subfloor cuz I'm nosy like that. BTW, I have the same curtain rod in my bathroom! Let's shop together! :)

Oh KariAnne, it's beautiful. I have a blue and white bedroom too and you've given me some inspiration to change up a few things. I have a dark blue headboard and I've been thinking it's time to change it so seeing your cream one made me think perhaps that might work for my room too. I love that you have a sitting area. My master bedroom is less than 12m2 but I've managed to fit an armchair in to make me think I have a lounge area. Lol. I love your room. Thanks for your posts, they continue to inspire me daily.

Major difference and upgrade. I love how you decorate your rooms, so pretty. You do my favorite style which is traditional with a little contemporary twist. Just gorgeous.

Thank you for sharing all the beautiful ways you have used BH & G items!!! So adorable and affordable! Maybe I need to ask Santa for some new decor. You are SUCH a gift!!! You have amazing, Texas sized talent and I am always so grateful for your heart and your stories.

Loved the bedroom and especially loved you used “our” rugs. Love love love mine in the living room but sure like the look in the bedroom too.

    1. Image for sue sue

Hi, I also noticed those rugs came from the living room, so does this mean we will be seeing a new look in the living room soon? Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it all! May I give you one of my tips? Lift off the curtain rod...take the first two rings and place one on the bracket coming out of the wall (wraps the drape panel around rod to the wall looking finished and polished) and the second ring place on the other side of the part of the bracket the rod clips on. Repeat on other panels. Wish I could show you a photo of mine if my explanation isn’t making sense :)

Your bedroom is a dream, no nightmares here just smiles!!! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving with all your family and pray safe if traveling.

OMG!! You all did quite a job on this room. Moving the bed made it look so much larger. What a transformation... It's so bright and open,. Great job Karianne. You deserved some cookies now, for sure!! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family!! Thanks for sharing this room with us!

I can't even!!!! I absolutely love all the blue and white you've added in your house. Your dining room is spectacular and so is your living room. And now this! So many "instagram and blog" homes are all white and they start to look the same after a while. Yours is not only gorgeous, but it is unique. Cheers to you!!! (I like exclamation marks also).

What. In. The. World?!?! Well, I just died and went to blue and white heaven. Stick a fork in me. I’m done. 💙💙💙 Gorgeous, as always.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Just remember to use a cooking bag for that turkey that is made for the oven or an electric roaster - NOT the kind designed for a slow cooker. Just heard a horror story about someone using the wrong kind!!!! You're going to do a great job!

  23. Image for Carolyn Brown Carolyn Brown

Well done KariAnne! I have the same curtain rod in my bedroom. They match my ceiling fan and lamp based. My room is decorated in blue, white, and beige. Love the combination of those colors. You have such an eye for design. Now that it's complete you owe it to yourself to have a Hallmark movie day in bed. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the family.

  24. Image for Joanna Joanna

WOW! What a transformation. It looks amazing - just like you! Great job!!! I look forward to learning more about it, in future posts. Have a spectacular Thanksgiving!

  25. Image for Sue Sue

You're right, I can't even. So neat, crisp and pretty!! And I like that you have used reasonably priced items showing how well a room can be decorated, without spending a lot of money.

Your bedroom looks amazeballs! But what did you do about the fireplace? And why aren't you showing us the TV? We need more details!
