12-favorite-things-about-fall-low-res

I love coffee.

I can’t help it.

It wakes me up.  It makes me smile.  It’s been through the rough times and the good times with me and never let me down.

When you pour that first cup of coffee and the steam rises and the smell drifts slowly across the room and you take a breath and reach for that first sip….

…all is right with the world.

I love coffee so much, I thought it might be fun to try and visually capture what the coffee tastes like, so I shopped for supplies and found the cutest plates and mugs and yummy food….

….and snapped these pictures to the falling leaves outside.

I love these pictures almost as much as I love fall.

Truly.

I’m sharing my 12 favorite things about the season.  So here’s my homage to fall and cozy and warm and a really good cup of coffee.

Enjoy.raising-bread-low-res

1. I love the moment in fall when the trees start to turn the most brilliant of colors and a few leaves drift down and cover the green grass.

2. I love the first crisp fall morning when you aren’t expecting it and you open the door and shiver and step back inside for a scarf.

3.  I love the smell of freshly cut hay in the back field and the giant over-sized round bales against the blue sky.

4.  I love driving by a farmer’s market full of brightly colored orange pumpkins scattered across the field and spilling out of the barrels by the road.

5.  I love the roar the crowd at a football game, snuggled under a plaid blanket and hanging on every second of the final minutes of a close game.

6.  I love plaid anything.  Especially lunch boxes.

7.  I love the crackle of a warm fire on a cold afternoon with a Hallmark movie where the guy saves a girl’s tree farm.

8.  I love the first bite of toasted bread covered with jelly and butter.

9.  I love when the days get shorter and it’s dark earlier and everyone comes home and there may or may not be time for a game of Monopoly.

10.  I love the first time I put on a pair of fall boots and add a turtleneck sweater.

11.  I love the colors of fall, the browns and reds and oranges and golden yellows and the beautiful, vivid display nature paints across the skyline.

12.  I love the first warm, smooth sip of coffee and the first bite of warm muffins straight from the oven.

Most of all?  I love fall itself.  For all that it is and all that it will be.  This is the season for family and friends and celebration and get-togethers and thankfulness.

And I am.

Thankful that is.

Every. Single. Day. 🙂

Oh, KariAnne, you would have hated being me this morning! I had to get blood work and had to fast so NO COFFEE!!! I made a very early appointment, got there, and could not wait to get on my way to work and stop for a steaming hot cup! Didn't have a Starbucks but stopped at Panera. That first sip was heaven!

Have you tried the Mocha Chile (or maybe it's Chile Mocha...) I was so busy enjoying their new fall coffee that I forgot the name...am I the only one who does that??? I was so caught off guard by the flavor, the name completely left my brain... and since I normally drink my coffee black, that's saying something! I.Love.Coffee. and Coffee.Loves.Me. It's like that teeter totter in perfect balance with your best friend and never touches down! :)

I love my raisin cinnamon toast and first sip of coffee! I love looking out over our mountain and seeing the peachy colored trees! and I love all of your photos- I can just smell it all:)

I was raised in a family that HAD to have their coffee, but I can't even stand the smell and I am 82 years old, so I'm not pregnant. I love flavored tea and drink it all day long. Everyone has something they love. The pictures were lovely.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love when the leaves swirl down from the trees or hurry down the road with a passing car. I love the cool air, the smells and sights. I love the coffee, too!!!

Great post, sister! I could smell (and almost taste) all that goodness you have in those photos. Yum! I love the colors of fall, but I don't like the shorter days and longer nights. Guess I have to get over that. : ) And, like you, I am THANKFUL. For everything. Every. Single. Day. All the best to you!

The pictures are stunning. From the wood bread tray to the metallic coffee mugs. Blown away. Florida fall has not yet arrived. We have had a few cool-ish mornings but we don't have the pleasure of experiencing fall the way other parts of the country do. However when you are shivering under snow, I will be enjoying what Florida has to offer. Skills girl....you have skills and me and coffee are besties.

Thank you! I always love Fall but for some reason this year (probably because time is just flying by), I was really dreading it. I wanted the summer sun, the longer days, the carelessness of summer to stick around even more than it has. And I've been lucky, I mean 86 degrees in the middle of October??!! But after reading your post on loving Fall, I am finally beginning to feel the first stirs of excitement for the season. So I thank you for that!!! Much love from another Kentuckian!

Oh, yes, coffee. It is despicable the way that Starbucks has outlets at the entry to supermarkets, so you end up thinking about nothing but coffee when you came to get mundane stuff like toilet paper. I get sucked in every time. A Starbucks wannabe just opened in a mall here in Carcassonne, France, and it is mobbed all the time.

I know what you mean about Fall and Coffee -- love them both! And I adore your Fall pictures, Karianne. Not a single leaf or pumpkin in any of them, and yet they perfectly capture the feeling of this wonderful season.

  11. Image for Jeanne Jeanne

I am thankful too, KariAnne...your Fall photos are lovely. Coffee? Yes, of course...a lovely morning smell...and mixed with pumpkin spice muffins or waffles and maple syrup or even Mr. Doodle's "wallpaper paste" oatmeal...heaven. :)

Amazing! And of course, fall has to include coffee with all of those things!! Starbucks knows a good thing when they meet it! Applause for representing the coffee from one grateful heart to another.

I've always been a tea girl (Lapsang Souchang in the fall, anyone???) but in the past few years I've learned to like coffee as well--at least, I love my lattes. I think autumn is the most "sensory" season--the smells and tastes of apples and pumpkin, the scent of falling leaves, the texture of swishing your feet through the leaves (I always take the "leafy-est" path), the sounds of the geese flying south for the winter, and of course the visual beauty. For me, it's the most wonderful time of the year.

All the photos are just awesome , I agree with all your reasons that you love fall..But one of my favorite fall drinks is a warm pumpink chi ,so yummy.

  15. Image for Janis Janis

I don't like coffee, but I love a cup of hot chocolate in the fall and winter. Actually, I like the smell of coffee, and I enjoy the flavor in baked goodies. I agree with all the other likes. Fall is my favorite season!

  16. Image for Terri Terri

My sentiments EXACTLY!!!!! It's like you read my "heart" ......... feel the same way about that first cup of "coffee" in the mornings.... and fall... well there is no season I love any more than fall !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST DITTO... to all you posted !!!!!! :)

I love the color of the Minnesota sky in the fall, the blue is intense. Fall morning walks nothing better, cloudless sky and stars to admire. Long drives enjoying the beauty of this very short but precious to me season.

  18. Image for Rebecca K Rebecca K

I love finally NOT sweating when I walk outside or around the corner! You captured the essence of Fall beautifully with photos and words. I hope Starbucks is as pleased as I was to see your talent. Thanks!

My husband and I have a Starbucks coffee EVERY day - black, no sugar. We don't drink and we don't smoke and this is our treat. A few years ago we drove to Charleston SC for our anniversary. On our way home the weather was terrible. We were in New Jersey and the only way I could convince my hubby that we should stay overnight even though we would be able to make it to Connecticut in about 1-1/2 hours was to find a Starbucks for him. Luckily there was a Target nearby and I hoped there was a Starbucks inside and thankfully there was and we stayed the night. It is our favorite treat.

I am thankful for coffee and YOU! Every. Single. Day. I live for Fall to come and the return of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte! I just purchased the Fall Blend as a gift for my son, he loves all of their seasonal blends. I can't imagine a world without coffee, I shudder just to think of it!! Your photos are spectacular and the 12 favorite things are well said. Thank-you for this delightful post. Excuse me, I must run to Starbucks for another Pumpkin Spice Latte-NOW!!

I couldn't agree more, after the long hot, dry summer we had, the chill in the air is exhilarating and I love to walk around my yard in the morning with my coffee and my dog Haggis. Thankful Fall is in the air. Thankful for everything.

I am so ashamed to admit this. But *sigh* I'm a coffee snob!! Yes, I know it's terrible, but in the morning I drink a strong tea - Pu Ehr to be precise until I can get to Starbucks and get my coffee fix. It has to be bold. Don't even think of giving me their ordinary wimpy blend. I'll refuse it. And blond?? Please don't insult my taste buds. I have them put the bold blend in my Wal-Mart Bubba cup which holds the "grande" size, or for the English speaking person, it's a medium. Then I add two raw sugar packets and a splash of half and half. The color has to be a beautiful tan -- not too light-- I know when it's just right. Ahhhhh! I could go for some right now, but I'd never sleep. Can't wait until tomorrow. You are so right about fall. Have a wonderful evening!!

What a lovely post, KariAnne...you've pretty much encapsulated everything I love about fall in it, too...the cool, crisp weather, the cozy sweaters and blankets, the beautiful colours, the hearty food and drink! And I go crazy for Starbuck's pumpkin spice lattes...or pumpkin spice anything, really! Coffee is always a must for these cooler autumn mornings, yes? Your photos are just gorgeous, too...I'll bet you've made Starbuck's very happy that they asked you to do this for them! They are so lovely, I get goosebumps looking at them! Well done, KariAnne! Now, if you'll excuse me...I'm off to Starbuck's for some pumpkin spice! ;)

Thank you for this Beautiful and Fun post. Fall is my favorite time of the year and you just made it even better!

Fall is such a wonderful -- and beautiful -- time of the year! Really enjoyed your post. I, too, just love to stop and have a Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte -- and a pumpkin spice muffin from Tim Horton's. KariAnne, your pictures are lovely. I really like the dishes on your table. Have a great evening. God Bless!

Lovely photos KariAnne. Starbucks Pumpkin spiced latte is my favourite thing. Had one today. Makes me think Christmas will soon be here....

I was down in Southern California taking a couple workshops and had my first Starbucks pumpkin spice latte of the season and hummed as I sipped. Oh such a delight from that first scent and the spices kind of tickles your nose and the whipped cream, melting into this decadent treat. I don't visit Starbucks very often but always enjoy it when I do. Your list is so right on with autumn upon us. I love pulling out my many scarves, fav sweaters and boots. Geese flying overhead with their honking echoing across the lake, leaves and acorns crunching on morning walks and my dogs wore their jackets for the first time this year looking quite spiffy. Glorious time of the year!

It has been in the 90s here in Texas... our cold fronts mean 75°, so seeing your beautiful pictures brings the fall season a little more to my heart. Thank you!
