Random thoughts on a Memorial Day weekend:

1.  I love the lady with the Chewbacca mask.  May we all live life with so much joy at the smallest of things.

2.  I had no idea when I wrote this post that this tip would go viral.  Apparently we all have couches that need assistance.

3.  I’m officially addicted to Family Feud.  I can’t help myself.  Steve Harvey has the best facial expressions.

4.  I ditched the purple and painted my toes red.  Just like my Lee Press On Nails from this military love story.

5.  Someone asked me if I had big plans for Memorial Day weekend and I said no.  I said I was just spending it with family and friends.

And then I thought just having family and friends around?

I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂

My friend Julie hosted a summer tour party.

There were so many beautiful tours on parade.

But I think hers was my favorite.

You can see it all here.

Summer to me means all things project.

Like this DIY arbor pergola project.

Free DIY plans found here.

While I was making over a community center, my friend Jess was making over a space for some super deserving individuals.

She transformed the break room at her local police station.

See all the before and afters here.

Here’s one more house tour that I love.

It’s the best mix of old and new and eclectic and traditional.

You can see it all here.

And in random news this week:

I love this table (and the room, too).

Great styling tips for retail.

Raspberry muffins?  Yes, please.

Best before pool picture ever.

I just flew, so this article made me smile.

Need inspiration for what to read at a wedding?

And I’ll leave with these clever ideas for styling a chalkboard crate.

burlap-flag - 750 x 500

And in honor of Memorial Day, a little story for all the individuals serving our country with honor and pride.

It was the sweetest I love you I’ve ever heard.

Just a thank you to you & your husband for his service in the military. God's blessings! Recently, on a rainy Spring night, my husband & I watched Blackhawk Down. I had to force myself to watch all of it. The bravery of those men was overwhelming. Ordinary men at home, they were giants in combat. They put themselves in harms way over & over so that no man would be left behind. Ordinary giants...Brave boys becoming men of honor... Truly everything we have & hold so dear, we have because generations of brave American men set aside their ordinary & stepped out as giants! Thank you!

Always so thankful to those who have served and are currently serving. Equally thankful for those who support them from home - you all have served/are serving in your own way as well. God bless you all! As for the viral post, I am eagerly awaiting part 2 - the part where you tell me (whose sofa and chair backs fine) how to "fluff" the cushions we sit on. It is viral - it deserves a follow up, right? (Can't blame a gal for trying...) Happy and safe weekend to you!

Hi KariAnne, I am visiting with family but wanted to sneak in a comment and wish you a Happy Memorial Day to you and your sweet family. The last link you shared about your hubby sailing off on that ship was one of the very first posts I ever read of yours. It still makes me smile. What a sweet story. I better go...family's calling....have a wonderful weekend! Blessings, Jeanne
