Random thoughts on a cold about to be basketball watching Saturday.

1.  Tulips are my jam.

2.  I just signed on for an amazing project in Nashville in the fall.  I’ll give you a hint.  It involves designing and a house and ceilings.

3.  I want to break up with January.

4.  Why does coffee taste so much better in a mug that’s monogrammed?

5.  I mentioned I found the best polka dot bobby pins and then forgot to tell you about them.  They are called Jane Tran and you can get them online.

6.  I tried an experiment yesterday.  I smiled at random people to see if they would smile back.

Most of the time they did.

And when they didn’t.  I kept smiling anyway.

I figured they needed an extra grin. 🙂

Yikes, I do love thistlekeeping. It is a journey that takes us on a real exploration of sorts. Your favorite flower & your blog made me think, do you know about blue thistles??? I see them from time to time & I am in Minnesota. Thanks for your inspiration on this below zero January day. Ms. K., so glad I follow your blog. Love your style.

I love the smiling experiment, Kari Anne! I challenge myself when I am walking in the school halls during passing time to smile, say hello, and call every student I meet by name. (I figure it's my own free version of Luminosity.) ;-) The kids I teach smile back and say, "What's up Mrs. G?" The ones I don't have in class are immediately paranoid: "How do you know my name? Am I in trouble?" I just keep on smiling and assure them that I know their names because they are important people. The looks I get are priceless.

I love your way of expression. It is so uplifting but never overdone. Thanks for all the great ideas and inspirations just to think of all the possibilities out there. Have a blessed January. I live in Phoenix and we are going into our season of 60 to 70 degrees everyday. It's a blessing to live here.

Well you certainly are my sunshine -- although you have made me tear up more than a few times but they were happy, sympathetic, loving you tears. Now I do the same thing about smiling. I take it as a challenge -- although I genuinely want to smile at people. I remember being in Italy and everyone that came into a shop greeted the owner or employees and wished them goodby upon leaving. As you walked down the street you looked people in the eye and said hello.I thought that was wonderful. You know, we live in a university town and hubby and I discuss all the time how the young people won't look at you. And this year I've made a point to say something nice or compliment someone I don't know although I compliment people I know too. I get such wonderful reactions!! Have a great weekend Big hugs and I want to see your polka dot bobby pins. I always knew you were a polk dot person. :-)

I too like what Ree had to say, I'm just not a morning person! But it certainly worth a try for a while! Our new apartment won't be ready until spring but the master bedroom faces east so that should encourage me to get up early! But I think I need to get to bed earlier to make early rising a possibility!! Happy bball watching. We're doing the NFL play-offs!

I cannot imagine anyone not smiling back at your cute self : ) I love the tulips (our anniversary is Valentine's Day so the colors make me swoon) and the heart shaped rolls are so sweet - in more ways than one!

Trying to get on the Painted Fox website, but it states the website is limited and won't allow me to connect. I'll keep trying but I thought you should know. Weird.

Oh, m'gosh...cinnamon rolls??? And shaped like hearts??? Count me soooooo IN! :) After reading Ree's reasons for loving the morning, it makes me wish I was a morning person, too. Especially if there are heart-shaped cinnamon rolls to go with that first morning coffee...hehe! If you ever figure out how to DIY that wire basket, PLEASE share, k? ;)
