Random thoughts on a summery Saturday morning:
1. I cannot thank you enough for the kind e-mails and DM’s and sweet notes about “The Graduation Song” that my husband wrote. I wish you could have seen his eyes twinkle when I read the messages to him.
2. If you are following along on Instagram stories, then you saw the yard progress last night. If you are not about Instagram then here is the Reader’s Digest version. We have half the fence installed and painted and now we are working on installing a 15′ x 15′ patio. We had to pull out layers of dirt with a Bobcat and now we are adding in a layer of gravel and pavers.
Whew.
It is a tough job supervising.
3. If you’ve ever wondered about Thistlewood and how it started and why we jumped and why we jumped back? I put it all together a fun set of stories for you. There’s just five of them and you can see them here.
4. It was such a fun week on the blog. Truly. We talked about how to clean wood floors (with a little bit of water controversy) and I shared a Father’s Day gift guide and I showed you my summer home tour and we discussed the CUTEST free DIY charger project.
And now?
Want to see all the fun things I found for us this week?
Oh, good.
Me, too.
This table y’all.
THIS TABLE.
It’s not an expensive Restoration Hardware piece. She built it for 1/32 of the price.
I’ve always wanted to plant a kitchen garden.
Herbs for days.
Here are tips and how-tos on how to plant one.
This pretty front porch.
Love the ferns and the summery colors.
You can see it here.
This beautiful greenhouse garden is amazing.
Those vintage bee skeps? Seriously?
And in random news this week:
This amazing tip
These blueberry recipes
This home tour is full of color
These reading nooks
This fun playlist
How to make a numbered crock planter
I’m doing this to my bookcase
These tours of fieldstone houses
These painted wood floors
And this.
This home tour reminded me of summer.
And one more for the road

Wow, this is one of the best Thistlekeepings ever. And I loved the song from earlier in the week, we are a musical family too. I am going to use a couple of the verses for a milestone for my niece. You are fortunate to have a faith-filled family, that takes guidance & the returns are great. My favorites in today's blog are the rag rug basket---totally functional without a ton of work & the bookcase made from a Target cheap piece. Way to go, Karianne, keep on sharing. Consider this your "happy mail" as they say here in the Midwest during the time of covid, etc.
Aww thank you so much for featuring our table - my husband will be blushing!! Now I’m off to check out all the other fabulous inspiration you shared - I love this post every week! Sheila Xo
Always look forward to Thistlekeeping, KariAnne! Hope you are having a lovely weekend!
OMG - some of your BEST Thistlekeeping features of all time! The historic stone houses? Just wow. And that last home tour was just too much for the senses. It "done me in." (To quote My Fair Lady.) I know I will be back for more but just after those two I needed to get up and stretch and take a mental break. I sure wish we had more money, haha. Hugs - have a fabo weekend. ♥
Amen to Donna's reply. Bravo!
Wow - a wonderful collection of beautiful ideas KariAnne! I'm diving in right now! 💗 THANK YOU!!
Good morning KariAnne, I am always a fan of your "Random thoughts for Saturday mornings" but yesterday I just didn't get to savor your message. But, today, in the cool morning sunrise and a cup of coffee in my hand I am savoring this moment. A deer is walking mere feet from my deck, a robin is already looking for worms to take back to the nest. No more perfect time to savor my imaginings!! I didn't say coveting because it is Sunday morning after all... ;)
I agree with all about a great post yesterday!! Enjoyed it all this morning and going to do the bookcase makeover:) Everything was wonderful!!
That was so so good, those baskets , those beautiful old houses, what a great time i had oohing all that, i looked at it saturday and went to see it again sunday. Thanks you are the best!
OMG, I love everything! That last home tour especially got me! So many beautiful rooms to devour. I have a chequered floor like that in my kitchen and hallway but what I loved most was the decorating. Every room is just perfect and I was able to pick out oodles of inspiration for my own home - thank you so much for sharing KariAnne!
I've seen the last house tour before and it's one of my all time favorites!!! xoxo
Oh my gosh- this weekly wrap up just took me 4 days to get through! So many GREAT ideas......Thank you!
Oh My Goodness!!! I just read the DIY Vintage Recipe Wall and I think that is so creative....and so adorable. Thanks so much for sharing this project that I never would have thought of on my own:)
