Random thoughts on a rainy Saturday morning:

1. I’m about to start on one of the upstairs bedrooms.  As in NAVY walls.  I know, right?  Dark, navy walls painted SW Naval.  Have you ever painted a room dark and if so were you all about it?

2. I’m speaking to an incredible group of business owners today.  I hope they are as excited as I am to talk all about social media and business and creative ways to get their products in front of new customers.

3. I hope my hair stays cute in the rain.

4. And guess what I got for Valentine’s Day?  Poldark THE BOOK.  I’ve only watched the television show.  I didn’t even know there was a book until my husband gave it to me.

I think he was trying to tide me over until the next season arrives. 🙂

And now?

Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week.

I’m all about spring right now.

And nests.

Loved this post on ways to bring spring into your home.

My living room has been painted in B.Moore's Van Deusen blue for the last three years and it looks wonderful and so expansive because the corners just seem to disappear. I'll never go back to plain old vanilla walls..

I LOVE the idea of navy walls😊 We had them in our previous house. I painted the bonus room walls navy; it was a Sherwin Williams color but I don’t remember which one. The room had 5 beautiful windows so there was a lot of light. It was a gorgeous room.

Yes! I painted a small bedroom dark green back in the 70s and loved it. The inspiration was twin bed comforters that were white with large splashy red and green flowers on a white background. I painted the trim white. It looked great. Wasn't fun to cover when I got ready to sell but that was the only drawback.

KariAnne, I painted one wall of my son's apartment Naval and we loved it! We left the other walls white but painted Naval between two strips of crown molding that ran around the room. It turned out absolutely stunning and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Unfortunately when moving from that apartment, he had to paint several coats of white in order to cover the color. Actually, now I'm thinking of painting my front door the same color! Go for it!

Well, I painted one wall with chalkboard paint and I love how cozy it makes my kitchen feel. I bet a room in navy will be stunning! Go for it! I wish I had a big house with extra rooms to play decorator in...well, not really. I'd like someone else's house to play decorator in. I'm loving my sweet little farmhouse. :) But still kind of envious. ;) I'll live vicariously through you, k? hugs, Cecilia

For some reason, I love a boys room painted in navy and SW Naval is a beautiful color. There are so many possibilities that coordinate with navy and it suits any décor. I love seeing a young boys room done in navy with touches of sports, cowboy or nautical décor.

Almost all the rooms in our home are dark; I love the drama. Only two downsides are that every little imperfection in the surface shows , and you will see dust on the walls. I mean, maybe you dust your walls on a regular basis, in which case you won't see dust, but I had no idea that dust would collect on a wall, so having to dust them was an absolute revelation to me. (Not that I actually dust them as often as I should by any means! )

I love NAvy! WE painted our bedroom Indigo Batik after seeing an entire hotel library in Savannah and they kindly told us the color. A year later I wake up everyday and I love it even more.

I have painted a room navy!! It was my daughters room and it had 3 big windows so lots of light. I loved it and so did she. Have fun, can't wait to see it..

I painted my daughter's walls BLACK, yes, black. The room has so much natural light, wonderful windows, large crown molding, original thick door and window trim and tall baseboards. It is SO sophisticated, so much so I need to do a blog post about it!!!! Can't wait to see your navy walls, my friend!

I am a Poldark fan too! That series of books was written by Winston Graham and there are about ten in all. I couldn't wait either. I had to read ahead. You can find them on Barnes and Noble for Nook readers among others. Happy reading!

Hi Karianne,my daughter is painting her kitchen cabinets navy. She showed me the color today and we are both anxious to get them finished so we can gush. Acorns don’t fall far from the tree..haha

This will be so striking! We painted our bedroom navy with white trim and ceiling in the seventies. It looked so pretty and was a soothing refuge.

I have thought before about reading the Poldark novels--I just started watching the series this past fall and am working on catching up. Let us know if you enjoy reading it! As for the walls--I confess, I am a light and bright kind of a gal. It's so cloudy and gloomy where I live during the winter that I find I need lots of light to get me through those months. I'm sure your navy room will be stunning so don't take my comment as a negative. :)

Hi, I just love your blog and I love how you include other blogs from around the internet. BUT i want to weigh in, fake plastic plants that look like fake cheap plastic plants even when someone like magnolia sells them. A real pothos or a snake plant (sansiverria) in a planter takes little light and really, little care. If you can’t be bothered, just slap a vase there. Instead! Have some dignity 😊.Magnolia!! That said, thank you for all you do, Karianne!

For years I had a scarlet bedroom. Dark, but I started a trend in my neighborhood (Sweet Bottom Plantation) I now have gray walls - have lived in this house for 30 years. I have always been a Sherwin Williams fan and feel sure that your foray into Navy will be a blast! Thank you for the inspiration to evolve.

Had my family room navy for quite a few years but since one entire wall was windows, another brick fireplace and the third a wall, there wasn’t much wall space so it worked well and I loved it (it opened into kitchen, which was french country wallpaper but minimal wall there so all worked well).

Hello! I just wanted to say thanks for opening my eyes to thrift store shopping with your blog. I've never been a thrift store shopper, but recently, my daughter sent me on a hunt for vintage tea cups and saucers for a friend's bridal shower. I walked into our neighborhood St. Vincent's, where I drop off donations all the time. What a great store! I didn't end up buying any tea cups, but I purchased 2 vases for some pops of purple for my newly painted family room and two red glass plates to add an accent to the dining room. Total.....$7.50! They look wonderful in their new home.

Yes! I painted a bedroom cobalt blue and LOVE It! The room feels so cozy, like a cocoon. I think you'll love navy walls, my friend! 😉

My living room and adjoining (bilevel) entryway and living room are turquoise and we love it. Of course, we have a lot of light so it is not dark in these rooms. We love color!!!

Your hair totally stayed cute in the rain. I hope you felt the love from our group at your presentation on Saturday. You are darling! And I love the idea of a room painted navy!!

I'm a Poldark fan too and now I'm curious about the book. I received your book as a gift and it was great. I even chuckled out loud a time or two.

Oh my goodness, I am crushing HARD on Navy, SW Naval to be exact!! I chose that for the island and message center in my newly remodeled kitchen. (If you want to take a peek, you can find me on Instagram at "lovethebluewaters.") I've been tempted to paint a wall in the house in SW Naval, so I can't wait to see how yours turns out!! Love your blog!!

I loooooove navy walls! Moody charcoals and dark blues have been my jam lately. You're going to rock it, I have no doubts, KariAnne. Thank you so much for linking to my little gallery wall project! I was just gushing about your new book with someone today. Just wrote a post and sharing it this week! Hope you have a great week, friend! I've gotta get on that Poldark bandwagon I keep hearing about all over the place.

I painted the wall behind my bed navy blue and I love it! It's dramatic and elegant and very calming. I can't wait to see the results.

My son's bathroom in our old house was navy blue and it was stunning (for a bathroom, lol). Now in the new house, he wants his bathroom painted navy again. His bedroom is a charcoal gray and he has a navy upholstered headboard - gorgeous against the gray walls. With a little more navy, a touch of orange and a few rustic wood accents, his room is one of my favorites in this house so far. I think you'll LOVE the dark color - go for it!
