Random thoughts on a cold Saturday morning:
1. We are heading to the rodeo in Ft. Worth this morning. I’m so excited. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a rodeo before.
2. Did you watch the first episode of Victoria on Masterpiece? Seriously. Her husband’s hair is almost as amazing as Poldark’s. Almost.
3. Has anyone ever painted peel and stick tile before? We have some in a back hallway upstairs and I’m thinking about it.
4. In super exciting news, Kirkland’s will be carrying my newest book, the new DIY (Decorate It Yourself) planner. And I’m going on a Kirkland’s book tour. Yep. Me. Coming to a Kirkland’s near you. I can’t WAIT to shop together. 🙂
4. I seriously cannot thank you all enough for the last-minute ideas for drop-by guests you left in the comments last week. It’s like a treasure trove. I just used one on Thursday. If you need any ideas for entertaining, any at all, take a moment to read the comments on this post.
And in awesome, awe-inspiring miracle news.
Remember when I wrote this post about Buddy? We left the vets that day in tears. We were getting our hearts ready to say goodbye. And then? You gave me hope. So many of you e-mailed me with ideas on changing his diet and we did. We removed all the gluten and sugar and added in a few other things.
And then? It was like a miracle. All of his symptoms almost disappeared.
I literally can’t even.
He’s like a teenager now.
We’re going to take him back to the vets for a follow-up visit and we’re not sure of the future or the new prognosis or what tomorrow holds.
But today? Today looks AMAZING.
All thanks to you. 🙂

Karianne, I’m so happy for Buddy. My rescue kitty was switched to grain free food and it has really helped w/chronic respiratory stuff. I ordered the book and can’t wait- hope u visit a Kirklands near me. Love from WI
KariAnne!! I'm so happy to hear about Buddy. That is such good news! I pray the changes you've made continue to give him good results. And if you end up in the Austin area, I'll be there! So excited for you...Kirklands will be perfect. ( I love me some Kirklands!) Not only did I watch the first episode of Victoria, I watched the 2nd. I love that show. Albert is soooo handsome. I've never painted peel and stick tiles - should be doable! And girl, if my photos looked like yours, I'd be happy! I'm eager to read the tips. Have a wonderful weekend! 😊Cecilia
I’m so excited to hear this good news about Buddy! I will be watching and waiting on a future painted tile post. I’m itching to paint my tile kitchen backsplash. Happy Saturday!
I'm so glad to hear that Buddy is doing so well! Enjoy whatever time you have with him, it's all a blessing! I ordered the book and can't wait for it to come.
All these happies are so great to hear! I love that Buddy is doing better! A book signing tour....wooohooo...will it be just around TX (though that state is the size of a small country!) Or will you be traveling to different Kirklands in other regions? I would love to meet you and have you sign my book in red lipstick....though on second thought that would leave smudges.😉 Have fun at the rodeo. We went to a PBR once. While it was exciting, my advice is to sit further back and bring earplugs to see and save your hearing. I know that sounds like a grandma statement, but hey keeping your hearing for as long as you can is practical thing!
Ooooh! Come to St. Louis, pleeeeeease! Hope you have a fun weekend!
KariAnne, that is such wonderful news about Buddy! I'm keeping my fingers crossed your book tour will include the Kirklands n my home town! Doubtful because it's a small town, but I can still hope.
So glad to hear about Buddy! Also great news about the book tour and Kirklands I will come and see you if you show up here! Love and Hugs Rockstar !
Buddy! No matter what happens he knows he is loved from here to the moon and back! Here's my post on a recent peel & stick project! https://notatrophywife.com/2018/01/how-to-install-peel-stick-tiles/ I love the look! xo laura in CO
So happy to hear about your dog. Can you share what changes you did?
Keeping fingers crossed and saying a prayer for Buddy's continued improvement. How very kind of your readers to send their help. Thank-you for another wonderful "Thistlekeeping"!
I love a good miracle story like Buddy's! If you are anywhere in S FL on the Kirkland's tour, I will be there!
My heart was overjoyed at the Buddy news!! So very thankful!! And this was an amazing Thistlekeeping!! So much to see and in the middle of the flu week before last—a good reminder of a post I missed. Yes! Love Victoria! And Stonegable. And can you plan to add Paducah to your Kirkland’s tour. It would be so much fun!! Have a great weekend, friend!
So very thankful to our Lord that Buddy is well . Love him ! I have two Goldens myself. Have a great week end !
So glad for Buddy!!!
Glad to hear of Buddy's miracle. Praying for continued improvement. Love your blog.
Have fun at the rodeo. I went to a rodeo in Madison Square garden when I was a child. It was a lot of fun and fascinating, too. Marilyn
What a fun day you will have at the rodeo! I'm so happy to hear about Buddy! Our furry friends are so much part of our family and I'm glad you found a way to help him out. Your new/old house is looking so great! I'm excited to see what else you have waiting for us!
I only have a moment to post today but first can I just say how happy I am to hear that Buddy is OK?! That's wonderful news!! Also wonderful news too about the Kirkland book tour!! I'll be the one in line with long grey hair and a big silly grin on my face if you show up at mine LOL
OMG! I am so happy to hear about Buddy doing better. Here’s praying for continued improvement and that you come to a Kirklands near me!!
I didn't even take the time yet to linger over your links, I just had to jump straight down and say YAY Buddy! I'm so happy for you and your family and that you all have more time with him. Sounds life he's enjoying life! I've been wondering how he's been so thank you for sharing. And I'm SO happy to hear about your gig with Kirkland's! I'm sure you'll love it!
KariAnne, such wonderful news about your precious Buddy! Pets are so precious! Will continue to pray that Buddy has many more good times with you and your family! Have a great week! Blessings!
Okay... I have lots to ask... and say...deep breath... How did you like the rodeo? Please tell me that part of the tour is the Chino store, because if it is, I'm taking my first trip to Kirkland's!!!! Thanking the Lord that Buddy is feeling so much better. Up your photography game....Are you kidding me? I wanna be you when I grow up and can take real pics! ;-) Love me some fiddle leaf figs... but I may have to stick with the one you can get at IKEA. AND... commenting for the first time with my blog handle!!!! Woot!!! Thanks for being such a big part of the inspiration that God has given me! Hugs!!!!
Yay for Buddy!! Great news! Also, regular linoleum flooring can be painted so I would assume peel and stick tile can be painted. Just rough it up, then clean it. Then put down a primer and use floor/concrete or marine paint. Let dry/cure then seal it.
Oh my...I could spend alll day lost in this post. So many ideas!!! I live in the sandhills of NC...where people come to golf (not us). We had 6 inches of amazing, beautiful snow this week. Everything was shut down (almost). I spent the entire day sitting in my la-z-boy, in my cozy fleece pants, watching the flakes fall from the sky, and binge-watching The Crown, followed by Victoria. Can we say Perfect Day (with a British accent, of course!). Albert is too cool looking...hmmmm...Victoria thought so too...they had 9 children.
God bless Buddy!! xoxo
That is awesome news about Buddy, I am elated! I pray he continues to get better and better! I just bought both of your books on Amazon, cannot wait! I wanted to also comment on the post regarding the dutch door, laundry room and butlers pantry. PURE LOVE FOR ALL THREE!!! Your new/old house is just beautiful!
Are you coming to Columbus, Ohio? I hope so!
YAY, Buddy! And that tip on painting french doors is over the top! Who knew??
Will you share your book tour location list once you have it? Of course there's no Kirland's in Boise, but I'd road trip if you were anywhere near! I'm glad Buddy is holding his own. My boxer Maggie who is almost 11 has bad arthritis in her leg from an old surgery. She was having trouble jumping up on the bed and sleeping in her favorite spot by my feet. I was told by a coworker and then my Vet to try CBD oil (hemp oil, no thc in it), legal in all 50 states and available via mail order for your pet. Sure enough, it started working like a charm after a week and she's been great ever since. Lots of pet owners I've spoken to are using it for their pets for arthritis, cancer and other things...give it a try!
Just pre-ordered your book! Praying that you will come to my local Kirkland :-) Happy to hear Buddy is doing better! xo
So happy to hear Buddy is doing so well - I have a cat that has seizures and they were reduced dramatically after switching to a grain free diet. Sometimes the simplest things make the biggest impact!! Watched the last episode of. Victoria - guess I better not ruin it for anyone that hasn’t already seen it ❤️ The show
Thanking God for Buddy's miracle!
The same news you had about the miracle in Buddy is the same thing that can happen in a human's life by doing the same thing. If, heaven forbid, cancer comes to your family, consider changing everything your doing. See the blog "Chris beat cancer".
I am happy for you for all of the reasons you mentioned. I am sorry to say that I am not animal person (please don't hate me!) but I understand the love you feel for animals because my son-in-law is such a dog person. Just so you know I have prayed for dogs recently. That is actually something I had never thought of doing. In. My. Life.
