Do you ever wonder what goes on between all these projects and DIY’s and stories?
A lot.
Sometimes a lot of nothing and sometimes a lot of something….
…but there’s always something to share.
And a really great pair of earrings. 🙂
So here’s a little behind the scenes at Thistlewood of the week that was.
This was the week I stood outside under a Bradford Pear tree with a sky so blue my eyes hurt.
This was the week the cat stared at me……staring up at the blue sky.
I looked up.
Then he looked up to see what I was looking at.
Or he might have been looking up…..thinking about climbing up the tree and then thinking how funny it would be if I had to climb up and get him down.
Absolutely hilarious.
Not.
This was the week I finished this project.
And the week I longed for summer cookouts and pink lemonade.
This was the week I wore these super cute shoes to Iowa.
And painted a dresser and met the BHG editors.
And the week that you cheered me on every super-cute-shoe step of the way.
This was the week that I tried to take a picture of my super-cute-shoes…..
…and my cat wanted his name in lights, too.
This was the week the forsythia bloomed.
This was the week the Wildcats made it almost all the way.
And this the week that this wonderful gift from my friend Andrea showed up on my doorstep to help me celebrate.
It’s a Kentucky silhouette painted on Kentucky barn wood.
If you are interested in your own silhouette….you can order them here.
And this is the week that I found this at Target in Iowa.
And I brought my Target treasure home and read it to my husband.
And told him I meant every word.
And this is the week that he sang me this.
This is the week that his eyes were extra twinkly and he sang me the song with the story behind it that still makes me smile.
(total aside: I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing with the i-phone video and I muted the first 20 seconds….it gets better….I promise)
Does a week get any better than that?
Seriously.
I hope your week is full of joy and sunshine and blue skies, too.
Happy day rock star.
You're absolutely right--it was a VERY full week! I loved it all--the cute shoes, the cats, the blooming forsythia, the song--EVERYTHING!!!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. :-)
miz karianne.....that was certainly worth coming home to! It sure made up for all the angst you went through with those Cats. And as exciting as it was to participate in the BHG Final Four, those twinkling eyes and super cute grin, declaring to the world his love for karianne, surely must've cancelled out all the disappointments of the week! PS Sorry you didn't come in first in Iowa....
You are so sweet! It was an amazing experience and I feel like I won just by getting to go! :) me
Sweetest thing....a EVER!!
Dear Karianne, What a week you had. I wanted both you and the Wildcats to win. You both get a great big "E" for effort and spirit . Thank you for making me smile on a daily basis and for all the inspiration you provide on how to make a house into a home. What a wonderful husband you have. I think you are both equally blessed. May God Bless you and your family.
What a wonderful week and the song is beautiful. It certainly touches the heart. I went back and read about the song. Thank you for clearing up how your pronounce your name -- I hate mispronouncing. My name gets mispronounced all the time.
Yes...you did have quite a week! Sorry about the BHG contest...all the projects were terrific. But, you know, your week isn't over yet...I've got a lot of faith in Friday! Cute shoes...did you wear those earrings too! ;)
Love!
Well the first line really had me going. I read it over & over. Finally just skipped it. The rest of this post was delightful. I loved every moment and had tears when your hubby sang your daddy's song! Have a great weekend!
That was so sweet and romantic! I had no idea your name was pronounced that way. I'm from NYC so I assumed it was said like Carry-ann.... like when you carry a bag. Enjoy your day!
What a glorious week, and how sweet is your husband?!? Love the song!
There is something so simple yet so beautiful about your blog. Yours has become one of my favourites. It's such a happy blog and we all need more happy! Thank you for sharing!!

Kari, how could life get any better! What a sweet moment you shared with us. Love is all you need really is true. Enjoy every day!
Can we just talk for a minute about how adorable your hubs is!... i mean really, what gal wouldn't get all mushy when her hubs sang to her like that... and the best part for me? ... your cute little giggles in the background!!! Perfect! :)
I personally loved the dresser makeover but I must say that Iowa pales in comparison to a serenade like this. Priceless and oh-so sweet. Also, nice to know it's pronounced like "Kah-ree" and not like "Carrie"-lol Have a great day, Lisa
OMGosh, Your hubby is the sweetest ever!!
Ha! Cuteness all around!

Karianne- I can honestly say you are the ONLY blogger that I get something amazing from each and every time I read your posts - I can't wait to get the next email so I can open it up and smile through your words......... your words really do smile........ have an awesome Thursday and see you soon at Haven!!
You guys are the cutest couple ever! I love how your song was incorporated into your wedding day and how it was passed on to you as a couple. I teared up as I read that. P.S. Thanks for posting a photo of your "super cute shoes". I was wondering what they looked like.
A wonderful week indeed! Loved seeing your kitties, your shoes and that twinkle eyed Mr. Freshy. Thanks for sharing and congrats on getting to the final four. Well deserved, girl!!

Your happiness shines through your words. Life is filled with so many great moments: blue skies, fresh blooms, curious critters, cute shoes and an even cuter husband. Thanks for sharing! Love you!
What a wonderful week..Your hubby is a dear..I hope all this wonderfulness continues for you..
You want to know what to do with that little phone ditty??? Store it along side the Wedding License and your babies Birth Certificates! It's a precious document of your love's song! You are blessed beyond measure! ((hugs))
Oh my god, my name is Kari too, that just brought the memories flooding back to when I was a little girl and my parents would put that old Norwegian sailing song on the record player. And as a tween, it was *so* embarrassing!
There goes the makeup! Wonderful post. Isn't spring grand? You want to put your arms around it and hug! Is this your husband's 1st debut singing on your blog? I agree with the others' comments - bake a pie, hug him, store the video for the future.
You make my day l love having. Coffee on my porch and reading your blog. You have inspired me to be a blogger. I have no idea; where to start except to jump right in.
Cutest. Thing. Ever. He is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.
That is the sweetest and bestest story ever!! And your hubby so sweet to sing and let you put it on your blog!! What a good sport! Just totally loved hearing it and then reading the sweet story. Is he a Longhorn? that is where lost points with me, tell him "Gig Em Aggies!!" ;)
Your week made my week worth it......... :) Lois
I think that is the sweetest story I've ever heard.
Oh...My...God (In the Janice voice from Friends) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSmp1ZSvelY How sweet is your hubby, with those twinkly eyes and that oh so sweet song to his beloved Kari! Super cute shoes too ;-)
My week was wonderful because I live in Connecticut - sorry Kentucky
That video! So cute and beyond romantic! Loves every minute of it...even the first twenty seconds ;) x
I clicked over to read the story about the song on your wedding day. Absolutely touching!!!! It is something from a movie. Just beautiful, beautiful is all I can say. You are blessed my friend, and the best part is, you realize it!!!!
How perfectly lovely.
Sounds like a beautiful week!~~Angela
I DIE. Y'all are adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So cute!!!!
Today I had lunch with a Houston blog friend (Anita), and we agreed that yours is a blog very well done. It's always fun to come for a visit.
That was sooo sweet. I just kept thinking about the girl with the red lipstick waiting for her sailor. How precious and what an adorable couple you make. I am 67 and can only look back and wish that I could have ever had this much pleasure and true love in my life!!! Continued happiness and giggles for both of you forever!
I think that you are the rock star this week! It is one for the record books and one that you will always remember! So glad your week was amazing!
OMG what a fabulous week, love everything about it! but.... I LOVE that song from your fabulous man the most, just gorgeous, your own little John Denver... Have an awesome weekend and thanks so much for all your help, you rock girlfriend!!!x
After just reading about the Pennsylvania school stabbing (yikes!) it was so refreshing to an expression of such love. As always, your writing is swoon-worthy.
Oh my a love song, my heart is swooning! It was so lovely it was almost like it was for me. :D Beautiful!
OMG! Thanks for making me cry. That is the sweetest. I love hearing you giggle as you take the video, I love how he smiles at you adoringly. I'd be jealous, but my husband is pretty awesome too. :) Instead I will say that I am so happy you found your One!
My best friends name is Kari but pronounced "carry". Your husbands twinkly eyes and smile says it all...true love :) Its neat isn't it how over the years the things you go through..like having babies..medical issues..tough times etc that it makes the love that much stronger. Married almost 10 years now with 4 kids I can say the love for hubby is even more precious as time goes on. Watching him as a daddy and how awesome he is with our kids is even more special than our wedding day.
I loved the whole thing!
I went back and reread the wedding story and cried again. YOu, your hubby, your kids AND your shoes are all SUPER CUTE!!!!!!! I should write a post on "the month that was" but my 2 SIL's red my blog so can't. Leave it to say that it was one HE__ of a month.
