Christmas Eve Mantel

Dear recent  Wheel-of-Fortune contestant from Florida,

I could not let Christmas Eve pass without telling you how awesome you are.

You go girl.

Seriously.

Christmas Eve

You had it.

Really.

You were so close.

When you guessed the G….I was right there with you.

I would have done the exact same thing….except I would have flipped my hair and swung my earrings when I answered.

Where I come from….it’s 12 drummers drummin’, 11 pipers pipin’, 10 lords a leapin’, 9 ladies dancin’, 8 maids a milkin’……and…..

…..7 swans a swimmin’.

Red and White Stocking

*sigh*

It was definitely awkward all around.

Awkward for the sweet lady in the blue sweater with the tentative smile on her face who looked like she would have rather had a root canal than solve the puzzle instead of you.

Awkward for poor Vanna who probably didn’t know if she should light up the rest of the letters or just stand there in that super cute black dress.

Awkward for the audience who audibly gasped when Pat said yes….and then paused…..and then said no.

But even with a dropped G …..my wonderful wheel of fortune friend……you still won $8200 and the admiration of half the country.

So I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas Eve from the land of sweet tea and rolling hills and fresh eggs and chicken barns.

We think you’re pretty amazin’.  🙂

KariAnne I saw that one too! My 8 year old daughter is obsessed with Wheel of Fortune - I'll put it in the 'educational TV' catagory but that was so heartbreaking, what can you do. Merry Christmas.

Oh that WoF call rankled us all and you have turned it into a cute post. For what it's worth, I think it was absolutely the wrong call. Merry Christmas to you!

oh yeah....I saw that episode! He and I watch it every night during dinner (on the sofa). We both looked at each other at the same time and said "huh?". I bet she ends up getting that money. Merry Merry Christmas Karianne to you and yours. xoxo

okay - I'm just going to go ahead and admit that I am a blog stalker. This had me laughing out loud! Oh my. I can only imagine hearing you say this in "real life" - with a sweet southern accent. Your blog to me is like receiving my favorite magazine in the mail, only more often. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and funny personality with us all. Merry Christmas to you!!!!

Yep! What ever judge called that one must have been a substitute -- like a substitute teacher, a little over the top from nerves. One of my never-lived-outside-New England friends seems unable to pronounce a final "G." Won't surprise me if they do something about it. Happy Christmas!

my mom never misses Wheel if she can help it so I'll have to ask her if she saw this one...I looked at your video link and couldn't believe they would do that to her! But she was a classy lady and graciously accepted defeat....shame on those Wheel judges. Merry Christmas dear Karianne!

I hadn't seen the show (or heard of the controversy), but I agree with you - she was robbed. Your Christmas stockings are gorgeous! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing all of us into your home and your life during this past year; your home is gorgeous, your blog is gorgeous, and you are just too funny! I am looking forward to seeing more peeks into your life next year (that didn't come out right!) Merry Christmas to you and your family, Karianne!

Ok, so I went over to the greatest gift and now I can't decide who I would write my letter to. I'm going to be thinking about this for DAYS. Do I write it to all the strangers who've helped me? Or to my dear friend who has been my "therapist" for years? Or to my sweet husband who is still wondering daily if he may have bitten off more than he can chew by marrying me. The list goes on and on. But I can certainly think of worse ways to head into Christmas Eve than counting my blessings and figuring out who to write a thoughtful, gratitude filled love letter to. I hope that you have a lovely holiday on your lovely farm. And PLEASE go to Haven this coming summer so I can meet you! Much Holiday cheer to you, Marian

Oh, that makes me mad because it's so unfair. I hadn't seen or heard about that episode because i don't watch wheel. I wouldn't even say she used vernacular, she just pronounced the word exactly the way it's sung in the song. Obviously, she picked the 'G' so she knew it was there. *sigh* deep breaths. I hope they reconsider and give her the prize. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and thanking you for all the smiles and joy you brought to me over the past year. Have a blessed 2013!
