IHappy Thanksgiving to you

About a week ago a tiny set of furry paws with bright sparkling brown eyes showed up on the steps of the gatehouse.

We don’t really know where how he got there.

Maybe he had gotten lost and separated from his mother.

Maybe someone dropped him off.

Maybe he was at the end of a long journey.

None of that mattered to us….

….we were just happy that he was there.

Happy Thanksgiving

The journey had taken its toll.

He had worms and ear mites and matted fur and eyes that needed attention.

But none of that mattered to him.

He ran right up to us with a mischievous smile on his face and a twinkle on his whiskers….

….and he jumped right into our arms and into our hearts.

I think he knew he was home.

We took him to the vet and cleaned him up and named him Nash (as in Steve….the basketball player) and officially made him the newest member of the family.

So it’s with great joy and blessings that we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving….

….from Nash and the gang. 🙂

You are turning in to as much of a haven for animals as our house. Big hug to you and family for taking him to the vet for much needed care. Next he needs to be neutered!! I just had my latest two orphans spayed on Tues. We have the Christmas tree up for a "trial run" before any ornaments are put on. So far, so good with the two six month old kittens. Happy Thanksgiving to your new baby and to you and all your family! PS, I have one feral kitty that is took 8 years to become a house cat. She finally decided the day before Thanksgiving last year she had enough of the hard life outside. She had her one year anniversary of being a house princess yesterday. She is the first picture on my sidebar.

Several years ago while living in Alabama and prior to our move to Kentucky, a gray and black male cat was noted to be hanging around our house. Already the owner of a "pound pup," I cautioned my husband to not feed the cat, else....... You got it! After about a week of seeing the gray cat scrounge food off our dog, hubby fed the cat. Tom is now a part of our family. He weathered the ride from Dothan Alabama to Danville Kentucky and became a hunter and adventurer in the vein of Daniel Boone. Tom is fond of chipmunks, chasing squirrels, catching birds, and treeing raccoons. When the latter gets caught in our Have-A-Heart trap for safe relocation to the country, Tom stands watch and beams when it is noticed that "he" has caught a raccoon. Enjoy Nash and your family Thanksgiving. May all the blessing that you give to others return to you ten-fold.

In just a few minutes, we are driving to our daughter's house for Thanksgiving dinner. I am taking her a sign to hang on her back porch that says, "Cats are like potato chips, you can't have just one. She has three indoor cats and two outside ones Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and a special greeting to Nash..

Thank you for introducing sweet little Nash to us, KariAnne! He was so lucky to chose your doorstep. Cats are wonderful and such an enrichment. I couldn't imagine living without at least one any more. Even when I'm sad, they can make me smile. Little Cecily who I had found some months ago in a tree, just climbed on my lap to cuddle. Have fun with Nash! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Just read your post and your new kitty looks like the kitty I rescued more than 20 years ago from the K-Mart parking lot. He was a few months old. We named him K-mart because he was a "BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL". We had K-Mart 20 years and he blessed us wth his antics and his climbing ability. Unfortunetly he got Cancer in one of his back legs and his leg had to be amputated. From then on our little cancer survivor could not longer climb, but he had no trouble getting around on 3 legs. Your Nash is so lucky to have found you and your family.
