Truth?
Decorating can be a little overwhelming.
I get.
I understand.
I’ve stood in my kitchen surrounded by paint colors that were all so close and wanted to cry. I’ve stared at blank walls without anything on them and blinked dozens of times, hoping someone else had an idea of what to put there. I’ve followed trends and decorated my house with giant yellow couches covered with blue and red flowers. I’ve planned and re-planned and designed and re-designed over and over and over again.
I’ve made more decorating mistakes than anyone else I know.
But in the middle of all that mistaking, I figured out one of the most important truths about decorating.
….and discovered something amazing along the way.
My house is loved, but it isn’t perfect. Not even close. But here’s the thing…
…neither am I.
It took me a long time to figure out how to embrace the me that I am.
I spent years trying to have the perfect house and the perfect me. I wasted so much time comparing my beginning to someone else’s ending. I looked at the green grass on the other side of the decorating fence and felt like my house was inadequate—like my house was never going to be good enough. I wanted to click my ruby red slippers together and transform my home and myself into someone taller and skinnier with perfect hair who could rock a prairie skirt, concho belt and Lee Press-On Nails.
And then? One day I stopped comparing. I stopped hoping and wishing and planning and dreaming for something I wasn’t and embraced the me that had been there all along. The me that was created by an incredible, amazing, awe-inspiring God who designed me with a plan and a purpose. I’m imperfect and distressed and worn around the edges with flaws and weaknesses and I’m a sinner saved by grace. Every detail. Every line. Every flaw.
Every imperfection.
This is my prayer for you with this planner. I want it to inspire you. I want it to spark ideas. I want it to encourage you and uplift you and give you the tools you need to plan and design and decorate and create a space you love.
Your home is one-of-a-kind.
Your home is loved.
Your home is a reflection of who you are.
And you, my friend, are perfect.
Just the way you are.

I just pre-ordered your planner. Since I am WAY older than you, I have become very comfortable with my style.....whether it's "in" or not. I always think you can't go wrong with classic. However, you are the one who gave me the confidence to start my blog, so I would imagine I will learn something new through your planner. Plus friends support friends. Really impressed with your ability to do so much, with grace and humor.
