I read once that there are different types of love.
There’s the love you feel for buttered popcorn at the movie.
The love that you feel when a rainbow shows up after a storm.
The love you feel for friends.
The love you feel for family.
And then?
There’s the type of love that catches you unaware.
Love that shows up out of nowhere and hits you like a lightning bolt when you least expect it.
One minute your heart is minding its own business and then?
Four furry paws, the sweetest brown eyes, and the curliest wagging tail show up….
….and you’re a goner.
Meet Scottie the goldendoodle.
The newest member of the family.
My first official grand dog.
Sigh.
I know all the grandparents say it, but isn’t she the most beautiful puppy you have ever seen? Just look in those eyes. All that is good and right with this world is reflected there.
Yesterday something wonderful happened.
I was in the office at the computer working and I looked up and saw my daughter-in-law Courtney walk through the door with Scottie in her arms. She walked over to the desk and the SWEETEST pair of brown eyes peered out at me from a layer of golden curls.
It was our first official meeting—Scottie and I.
“Hello cutie,” I said and held out my hands.
I gathered Scottie in my arms and smelled that wonderful puppy smell and looked down at those beautiful layers of golden puppy fur and my heart flipped over.
Mid-snuggle she looked up at me and stared at me intently (and so intelligently)—her bright brown eyes never leaving mine.

It was a look of wonder.
As if she knew me.
As if she understood me.
As if she had been waiting for me all along.
And then?
// monogrammed doormat //
She closed her eyes and snuggled her head under my chin and settled in as if she belonged.
Which of course she did.
Later—when it was just the two of us—I whispered to her the same thing I used to say when I held my littles in my arms.
“More than the skies and the trees and the birds and the bees and the heavens and the seas….
….that’s how much I love you.”
She nodded as if she understood and licked the side of my face and then promptly dozed off to sleep in my lap.
The most perfect puppy I have ever seen.
I have a feeling our sweet family is in for the adventure of a lifetime.
And I’m here for every minute.

Doodles are the best. Our Nola is an Australian Labradoodle but Scotty looks exactly like her at that age. Those brown eyes will melt your heart. I swear she understands everything you say - except when she definitely does not want to do what you want her to do. They have a sense of humor. What out for the zoomies. They are hilarious. Oh, I have two grandsons, too. Both chocolate labs and I love them bot, too.

I love dogs, ihave had and loved every one of them. The 6 years ago my Lola arrived. She is an English Creme Goldendoodle. She is the sweetest and smartest dog I have ever known. Totally house trained in 2 day, truly 2 days’. Best wishes, his little personality will charm your socks off!!!
Scotty is the cutest puppy, I can certainly understand why it was love at first sight for the two of you. I'm in love with her too! You're making me want one of my own. I absolutely love my grand-animals, they are so lovable and get so excited when I come to visit my grandchildren, after all, they were part of our family first.
OMG puppy love. It is quite explosive. And then once they are out of that adorable puppy stage, the reality sinks in. Your love has changed from "you are so cute" to "I can't imagine life without you". I want to give her a treat just so he would like me best. Lol. So cute. Happy New family member.
Oh my gosh. She looks so much like Rudy did as a puppy. The same deep red color and that face. They are the sweetest fur babies. I could just eat them up. 🤪🥰
Pure love. Nothing compares. I have two doodles: a Havapoo (Havanese/poodle) named Roxy and a Bichon frise/ poodle named Rocco. So warm, intelligent and loving.

OMG what a perfect little puppy. I have a mini Bernedoodle her name is Aggie. She is 3 and I’m in love with her. She has those beautiful eyes as well. They are called doodle eyes, they look through right to your soul. She is the best thing I ever did. My husband passed 3 months ago and having her here with me has been such a joy. She is with me when I’m sad and happy. They (the doodle breads are soooo smart). They feel what you are feeling. Thank God for my little Aggie

Our Cavalier King Charles “Teddy” is the love of our lives and the little prince of the household. Guaranteed there is nothing like the love of a dog. Dogs really are loves purest shadow! OMG! A doodle! We had a wonderful once in a lifetime doodle. So smart and aware of everything. We trained her as a service dog for my husband. She loved it so much and would prance when she wore her service dog vest. She went everywhere with us and was an excellent biologist, companion and best friend. Scottie has the same face as Aquarius had. She died two weeks shy of her 20th birthday at Christmas 2023.😢 Enjoy Scottie- what a special gift🩷

What an adorable puppy! We are waiting for a new puppy in our life, and as it turns out, most of the puppies we have found are rescues from Texas! Our wonderful older dog is a rescue from the Austin area. Enjoy those puppy cuddles!

We lost our black doodle about a year and 1/2 ago. I was heart broken. We had him for 14 years but he had cancer. I couldn't go with my husband to put him down. I still feel guilty about that. He was the best and he loved all the kids and sat quietly while they combed him and dressed him up with hair bows and lots of other stuff. My sister in-law trained him to be a service dog and she took him to hospitals to visit the kids, Roswell Cancer institute was 1 and other hospitals in our area. About 4 months ago my husband showed up with a 3month old tan doodle. He is nothing like my Jack, he never slows down We are always chasing him. He loves to chew on my husbands feet, and arms. He jumps up on the counter and steals food. We got takeout from Applebees and he ate all the French fries. Now someone needs to sit by the counter to make sure he doesn't steal our dinner. He is in obedience school, we laugh about it he is a thief and will probably always will be. He does play well with the grandkids because they get rough, so good luck but I know we will learn to love him like our Jack.

Puppy breath and puppy snuggles are the BEST! Scottie is precious...we have a goldendoodle who is 9+ and he is my absolute shadow, follows me everywhere.
