Just in case no one else has mentioned it yet?

2023 is here.

A new year.

A blank slate.

A chance to start again.

I wanted to start the year off right, so last week I asked for your help. I asked for your very best advice to start the new year with and you DELIVERED.

Truly.

I was so inspired reading all of the words of wisdom you wrote to me and I wanted to share them with everyone. So to get ready for a new year, here’s a little inspiration to get you started.

Straight from your heart.

“Be gentle with yourself” ~ Kris

“Love without expectations.”~ Sue

“Give yourself grace in 2023” ~ Stacie

“If it doesn’t affect your family or your life, then don’t stress over it” ~ Maureen

“Life . . . and people . . . aren’t perfect; nor will they ever be. Things rarely go as was we dream or plan. Love what is and embrace the reality of the moment.” ~ Kristin

“Forget acquiring stuff , give to those that need help.” ~ Betsy

“The best advice I can give anyone in the new year is not to make resolutions, choose a word, withhold nourishment, or try to organize chaos. Because all these things tend to fall by the wayside very quickly. However if you practice gratitude in finding joy in the little and everyday things I promise you your life will change. In a good way, forever.”~Laura

“Fav advice is actually a quote I try to live by…”I don’t think we find compassion. I think we become the space that compassion wants to live in”…Judith Hanson Lasater” ~ Polly

“As far as the New Year goes, everyone starts off with big resolutions and plans for change and they can feel overwhelming very quickly. So I always say just take one day at a time and be kind to yourself.” ~ Janice

“When I use a big roll of tape, such as packing tape, when I’m done, I fold over a tiny bit, so next time I can find the end easily…or when filling a baggie with left overs, first fold baggie down a bit, then fill, most likely you won’t have any leftovers on the zip part of the bag to wipe off before you seal it” ~ Kathy

“Dear God, Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for all that you’ve allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every single day. We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above all else. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut tight. We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts. We ask for your wisdom, for your strength and power to be constantly present within us. We pray you would make us strong and courageous for the road ahead. Give us ability beyond what we feel able, let your gifts flow freely through us, so that you would be honored by our lives, and others would be drawn to you. We pray that you’d keep us far from the snares and traps of temptations. That you would whisper in our ear when we need to run and whisper in our heart when we need to stand our ground.” ~ Linda

“Major in the majors and minor in the minors.” ~ Valarie

“There are two pieces of advice that I often think about. One was from our former pastor…he said to “Love Extravagantly, Forgive Graciously and Encourage Endlessly until His Kingdom fully comes!” The other one is from my very wise grandmother…she always said “don’t meet trouble halfway – it can make the journey all by itself!”” ~ Karin

“The best advice I have received came from my older sister; “Never date anyone you wouldn’t want to marry. You never know who you may fall in love with.” ~ Sally

“One of my favorite quotes is part of Desiderata: ‘If you compare yourself to others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.’ ” ~ Peg

“I will give you a quote that My Grandson said to me one day when I was watching them and helping them do some things to surprise their Mom. He said to me Grandma…..Just Breathe!” ~ Darlene

“Before I speak, I ask myself: Is it necessary, Is it true, is it kind, will it make a difference. Otherwise, I don’t speak.” ~ Carol

“My advice: look for God’s nuggets in every situation and season. Sometimes we have to look hard but He is faithful and will always provide.”  ~ Olga

“Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you. Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you.” And one more: “Love the people God gave you, because He will need them back one day.”” ~ Barb

“My words of wisdom are easy: “let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;” James 1:19” ~ Susan

“My advice for 2023…Pray daily, laugh often and love unconditionally.” ~ DeMarie

“My fav quote I learned recently from my elder daughter, and I am so happy to share it with you for your readers too: There is NO such thing as perfection. So, practice doesn’t make perfect…..practice makes PROGRESS.” ~ Michele

“Comparison is the thief of joy” (not sure of the source) and “Give grace to your younger self.” As an older person, I have learned to look back at the younger me and be less judgmental about the choices I made.” ~ PJ

“Give thanks to God and be thankful for everything that you have because they made you what you are today, and that’s a pretty good thing!!!” ~ Donna Marie

“My favorite advice: Anytime I find myself feeling envious of those with more, I turn around and look at those with less. This will lead to a prayer of gratitude and a desire to help others. A wonderful place to be.’ ~ Barbara

And my best advice?

You all said it so well that there’s nothing left to say.

I adore you friend.

So I will leave you with a heartfelt thank you for your encouragement and this blessing:

May your troubles be less

May your blessings be more

And may nothing but happiness come through your door

Happy New Year

No, 2023 won’t be the best year yet. Nor will it be the worst. You see, a year is a mosaic of absolutely everything. Joy, fear, heartache, loss, beauty, pain, love. Failure, learning, friendship, misery, exhilaration. Each day, each moment even, is a tiny shard of glass in this beautiful, confusing creation. 2023 will be another mosaic to add to your wall of art. A wall that shows the life, you are continuously gifted. A wall that shows you are human. A wall of survival. I wish you many broken pieces of glass this year, Because this is living. And before you march on into another year of ‘everything’, pause to look back, at the work you have created thus far. It is quite something. YOU are quite something. Now onwards we go, Onwards we go Happy New Year❤️
