Someone left me a question once on the blog asking me if my DIY’s turned out perfectly every time.

Ummm.  I want to say yes.

Desperately.

But I can’t.  Not even close.

There was my farmhouse table that wasn’t even and the blush that tried to get into the picture and the apples that weren’t ready for prime time and the time my robe took one for the team.

That’s me.

Always trying.  Always hoping.  Always planning and dreaming and thinking and creating and crossing my DIY fingers that it all shakes out in the end.

So close.  So close to amazing.

If you understand.  If you are nodding your head and raising your hand.  If your projects or plans or creative hopes and dreams sometimes don’t turnout exactly like you hoped either….

….come sit by me.

Today is all about celebrating us and our imperfect DIY projects.

(or our book pictures with purple toenails in them)

It’s about lifting each other up and finding out that we’re not alone in our DIY speed bumps in the road.

I’m joining a dozen other amazing, incredible, awesome blogger friends who are celebrating my new book, So Close to Amazing, by sharing their stories about the time that a DIY may have gotten the best of them.

And let me tell you—these friends of mine?  They represented.  They showed up.  They were vulnerable and open and honest and shared their heart and their imperfections. Stop by their blogs to read their stories and their review of the book.

You won’t want to miss a word of their incredible posts.

Here’s the list of my So Close To Amazing Friends with the links to their stories:

And now—here’s where you come in.

I’m hosting an In-Linz party with my co-hosts for you to tell YOUR story from August 21-September 16.

I’d love to hear your story.

You can link up an old blog post with a “so close to amazing” story.  Don’t have a blog?  Share your Facebook or Instagram post here, too.  To celebrate the book and your stories—we are giving away two prizes drawn by random number from the participants in the link up.

Two lucky winners will be drawn by random number and announced on September 17.

Please note that all participants must be 18 or older.

Now let’s get this linky party started.

Link up below. 🙂

KariAnne, Yes, I agree with everything Lynn Spencer said. In this crazy world, we all need those who lift us up, encourage us, and bring sunshine in our lives. Your So Close to Amazing book is such a joy to read. The people I've had the privilege to meet (in the virtual internet world) through you have also been blessings. Thank you for bringing us all together to share incredible stories that help us face times when our lives are less than perfect... like everyday. :) I am so thrilled to be part of the blog tour and the launch team. Have a great day, and remember your special glasses while watching the eclipse... such an amazing day today! Judith

Thanks, Karianne, for this encouraging book. As someone said, the world needs this book. It's time to celebrate the amazing instead of focus on the faults. Bless you!

KariAnne - you are the rockstar of all blogging rockstars. One whom I admire and aspire to be. What an honor it has been to have a seat at the table to help launch this amazing book - a book that has inspired me to step into the grace we've been given when the not to fun moments happen. You are a light in this world that touches so many lives, so many hearts and my prayer is that God continues to use you as His conduit to bless those who read your stories. Thank you for sharing your stories, thank you for teaching me to laugh at my gaffs, and thank you for being a friend. Love you HUGE!!! Jen @ Noting Grace

Can't wait for your new book! I ordered tips and everything to make my mother a beautiful cake for her birthday - no bought cakes for this girl :) "They" make it look so easy. Unfortunately the cake turned out looking like a dog's breakfast. When my mother sees the cake, she said just two words...... "Oh My"

I love this post in a world of Facebook, instagram, and tweets that promote and show the amazing side of everything, including people's lives, this is so needed! I'm afraid our social media has created such unrealistic expectations that it is effecting an entire culture. I LOVE blogs and Pinterest, and home design sooo much, but sooooo delighted to read this post and the balance of real life! Congratulations on your book!!

Thank you for your post about DIY projects that went wrong. While I have had some great decorating successes, there are always the few things I did that turned out terrible! Thanks for letting me know that it is ok to mess up....
