I think this week was a little more random than normal.
Blame it on the sunshine and the Olympics.
Between all the fuss over the Olympic scoring with the ladies ice skating and how relieved I was that Bob Costas had finally recovered from his eye infection…..
….I got a little distracted. 🙂
I have made my own napkins forever.
I had to.
I always had a napkin in my mind that would match the table perfectly in the exact color and pattern….but when I tried to find them….I realized that they didn’t exist.
So I made my own.
Except.
Except for those corners. They were always lumpy and never matched and the napkins looked like I made them in ten minutes…..which of course…..I did.
But then I found this simple tip from my friend Lisa at Celebrate Creativity and all the lumpy corners disappeared.
I am not an expert on photography.
Not even close.
But I did learn this easy tip to help get your pictures clearer and crisper.
I posted it a while back….but it deserves a repeat.
I saw this idea over on the forum.
My wonderful friend Christel created this project from wood she had at the house.
She stenciled one word from the quote, “To be or not to be” on each side of the block.
Brilliant and easy and almost free.
If you have a fun project you’re working on in your home….you can share it….here.
And in the exciting news announcement category…..I’m partnering with Creating With the Stars.
Last year I was in the contest.
If you missed my brief but super exciting performance….
….here’s the cliff notes.
The first week I started strong and won the week with this project….
I was all about myself and my clock and I floated around on cloud nine all week…..until the next week…..
…..when I crashed and burned with this project.
I thought it was brilliant….but I think only my mother agreed with me…
…..and I came in last place.
*sigh*
And so I gathered my tattered pride and my slipcover and my plate wall and my bicycle clock and went home to drown my sorrows in a glass of sweet tea. 🙂
But this year?
This year is a little different. This year I’m on the other side.
I know….right?
I’m going to be helping someone on their contest journey….and I am over-the-moon excited!
Fingers crossed it might be you.
It’s going to be amazing. Martha Stewart is a guest judge and you can win a trip to Punta Cana and there’s so many more exciting details.
So if you like to create and you want to enter a project in the contest….simply click here for all the details.
Happy random Saturday to you. 🙂
I love that chair!
Oh and I am just ever so slightly (more like jumping up and down) excited about CWTS.
I'm still in love with that bicycle clock...so original! If and when my oldest son moves back to the states from Japan...I might make that for him...remind me...ok? ;)
You are the real ROCK STAR! Looking forward to CWTS!!
I for one loved your slip cover! If there was anyone ever meant to participate in Creating with the Stars, it is you!!! I'm excited to watch!
I love your clock and chair, I relly love the plates!! I'm excited to check this out, I don 't know if I'm talented enough to enter but I would still love to do it!!! Thanks for sharing your blog with me! Have a GREAT day!! ~Rhonda~
Great and simple phot tip but one overlooked. Also, one you had shared an app that you did a rendering of your home with. What was the name of that app, please?
Hmmm.... I shall link up from my hospital bed minus my uterus. If that is not dedication I don't know what is.
thanks so much for the information on napkins. Mine always look terrible and now they will look terrific. Have a great weekend. Mary
Love the Clock , love the chair.
I am distracted by the tulips (mine from my dear hubby for Valentine's day are still hanging in there but won't be much longer!). Love. I loved the chair-chair cover. It's witty and charming. Maybe your sense of humor is more sophisticated than the average person. :)
Well I love your chair cover! It's going to be such fun following along with this.
I think that chair rocks and I appreciate the time it takes to make a slipcover! Thanks for photo tip. I am totally guilty of taking blurry "before" pics cuz I am too impatient to get out the tripod. Details! Details!
So, so cool!!! I'm headed over to see how to make pointy corners . . . and by the way, next week I'm being forced to be crafty! My mom came across a SLEW of already-cut-out quilt squares that my grandmother had done, simple squares, enough for 3 quilts! So, my sister is coming down for a few days, we're taking our sewing machines over to Mom's house (which reminds me, I need to DUST mine! LOL), and we're going to make quilt tops! I'm slightly nervous . . . ;) Happy SUNSHINE SATURDAY!!!!!
I KNEW IT!!! I knew that sooner or later, I was going to have to recruit my friend Linda, to bring that tripod and fancy camera out here! I'll have to think of something REALLY tempting to bribe her with! And I agree with you, Regina, Happy Sunshine.
I love all of your ideas. Did you ask for a recount :-) I do have to work with my photos -- and I have a tripod. I will definitely do it next time. As always, thank you for the tips. Your the greatest - have a good weekend.
You have made my day - mitred corners - how easy can it be. thank you- thank you
I must be attracted to "crash and burn" as I love that chair!....Have a great weekend...and yes, Lisa's mitered corner napkin tutorial is the best!
Who better to walk a participants through the whirlwind process of Creating with the Stars than someone fabulous who went through the highs and lows herself?! I love it. Whoever gets to partner with you is a lucky DIY duck! ;-)
Makes me wish I had a blog. I so want to give it a shot. Congrats on being a mentor this year!
Congratulations KariAnne, you are a star! I'm looking forward to following CWTS and now heading over to check out the photo tip from Lisa. So much information to soak up, thanks for sharing! Happy and excited for you, whoohoo!!
Ooo...rubbing shoulders with The Martha? That's pretty big lady. But I thought she didn't like bloggers, us being unprofessional and under skilled and all. Then again, if she likes your project, you're in good shape, I imagine. I hope you find someone divine to coach. What a blast for you and a treat for them. The Other Marian
Congrats KariAnne! Was so excited to see you name on the judge list. I totally missed the whole thing last year, blame it on my day job. ;) Hoping this year I get a chance. Keeping my fingers crossed. :) Thanks again for reminding us about the timer tip. I' m slowly getting into the habit of using a timer.
