Hello sunshine.
We had a cricket in our house this week.
Why is it that thousands of crickets outside sound like a symphony? A gentle, lulling sound that dances across the blades of grass and swirls around the night sky and makes you want to hum along in tune.
And the sound of one cricket inside the house sounds like the noise on the radio when the station goes out of tune.
He’s hard to find, too.
He’s tricky.
First you think he’s by the refrigerator.
Then the pantry door.
Then the bathroom sink.
And just when you think you’ve pinpointed his location….
….he stops singing. 🙂

Easiest way to age terra cotta pots.
Ever.
You can find the DIY here.
Love this simple outdoor table setting.
And the blue and white makes me happy.
If you collect white ware like I do, I thought this was a simple table idea.
Hello summer.
I love this house tour.
Perfect kick off for June.
You can see the entire house tour here.

And one more for the road.
I’m asking for a big favor.

Fingers and paws crossed we win. 🙂
Happy random Saturday to you.
Joan's kitchen is my most favorite ever. Her whole house is lovely. And I love her puppies, too. And now I have more wonderful books to read. Thanks, friend!
I totally can relate to the cricket episode!:) Still voting- good luck!!!!
Happy Saturday to you, too!! : ) So happy when you stop by!!!
I voted AGAIN ( and again).......I do love Saturdays Thistlekeeping post. Hope you find that indoor chirper.
Good morning, Karianne! And Happy Random Saturday to ya!! I am watching bunnies munching grass in the courtyard outside my new apartment as I type this. Have to say, friend, much more enjoyable than an elusive indoor cricket. Heading out soon for some coffee at Pikes Perk and then shopping with my beautiful, sweet daughter today. Hope you find that chirper soon and you have a spectacular Saturday!
You do know that the one and only best solution to a cricket in the house is a kitten - or two - in the house, right?! :)
I've been voting every day :-) And I can relate to a cricket in the house -- usually our cats could hunt it down or at least stare in the right direction. I love Joan's kitchen and I'm totally crushing over that stove. Oh my!! I would just stand there and drool. Hope you get your cricket -- have a great weekend.
Good Saturday morning KariAnne, I just voted then came back to see which link I wanted to open and read... I have been seriously considering opening an online store on my blog/website and thought maybe the "business owner" link might be fun. Never in a million years would I have guessed that it would be from Marian, at MissMustardSeed. What a great post she wrote, but also a scary one, seeing just how busy her life is, running her business...now she's getting CEO lessons? Yikes, maybe I don't want to open that online store after all and get that busy. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts along that same line... how you keep it all together and do you ever wish your life wasn't so busy. I've read your "starting a business/blog" section a gazillion times, trying to glean things from what you say, but I'd still like to know more from you... Thanks KariAnne, Have a wonderful Saturday! Blessings, Jeanne
Your links are so fun. We have similar taste in kitchens. :) I think I must have the elephant print in your craft room. Love!
Could your little friend be the cricket of Disney fame? I voted again today. Hope your room wins for all those lucky little pups!
I love the sound of a cricket in the house, reminds me of long ago girlhood days in rural Pa. on my Grams farm. She told us it brought good luck to the house. Look forward to Thistlekeeping every week- so much to enjoy! Still voting for the best of the best makeover. Thank-you for this delightful post.
Reading your story about your cricket friend reminds me of a song I loved teaching my middle school students years ago- "Peace on Earth ... and Lots of Little Crickets!" You can listen to a recording (not my group) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NExZiUhU4wE ;) It's a great story, and I know you love stories!
Oh those crickets! They can be tricky. Have a great rest of your weekend friend.
I love love love crickets. Jiminy Cricket, my beloved cocker Cricket who has passed, and best of all, my English Grandma would always say..never kill a cricket on the hearth.... Maybe had something to do with luck, but just saying, crickets and thistle wood farm ROCK.
I, too, love the sound of a cricket. But years ago I heard a cricket in my office at work, but as much as I tried, I couldn't find it, so I decided to just let it be. I became amazed when I could still hear it after weeks and weeks went by. Well eventually I realized the cricket sound was coming from the screen saver on a co-workers computer. Didn't I feel foolish!
