Christmas decor dining room

(you can see the rest of this house tour I photographed last year….here)

I just decided at 7:46 am that this is my favorite day of the year.

I’m looking at Thanksgiving in my rear view mirror and giving thanks and celebrating family and still full from turkey and dressing.

And tomorrow?

Tomorrow is full of holly and jolly and Christmas lights and decking the halls and rocking around the Christmas tree.

But today?

Today I’m sitting in a quiet, still kitchen with a heart full of joy next to the glow of lights on the tree with a tiny yorkie curled up at my feet and the smell of sage evergreen filling the air listening to the rain falling outside my window with a barn door on the back porch waiting to be painted.

The calm before the storm.

The most wonderful day of the year. 🙂

My favorite Christmas decorating is free.

Especially when it’s a Ho Ho Ho banner that you can download and print yourself.

Free printable found here.

How brilliant is this?

I have license plates sitting upstairs and I’m making this next week.

Here’s the DIY and free license plates printables to make the tree and the star.

Easy snow globe centerpiece idea.

And it only took 10 minutes.

DIY found here.

I’ve never seen a scrap of fabric look so good.

Make your own with burlap and imagination.

And in random news this week:

For everyone who has ever rescued a piece of junk.

This table made me sigh.

This post made me think.

Love this Christmas home tour.

And here’s the perfect table to take you into 2016.

And one more for the road.

If you need a smile today….

….here’s the story of the perfect innkeeper’s wife.

Happy random Saturday to you.

OMG, who's dining room is that first picture!!??? Gorgeous! The ceiling! The painto on the wall!! Holy cannoli! Yesteday was not my favorite day; I was so busy all day getting ready for guests for dinner, then exhausted by 10PM. Can't wait to see all your Christmas decor!!!!! XO

Oh I love your dining room picture!! I wish I could follow you around for a day but I don't think I'd have the energy :-( My dining room table has a white flannel sheet on top of it. I have white sheets over the windows and I still have too much light for my food photos. I made a homemade light tent that ended up being an episode of the Three Stooges. When we bought this house little did I know I'd want to be a food blogger who loves to tease a little blonde Kentuckian who is the rock star of decor!! Sending big hugs to you -- anxious to see the Christmas house!!

I love when you post and add your little treats from other sites. The "Skinny" article was so true. Last week I saw an ad for a sale on skinny jeans. I've been thinking maybe I should get a pair and maybe they would make me look like I lost some weight in this season of pies and cookies. I took a pair into the dressing room and almost had to call for help! I have muscular cafes and the legs were stuck! Somehow I made it out! I laughed to myself on the way home and came to the conclusion that skinny jeans are one fashion style that I won't be taking part in.......and that's ok.
